I've booked two rooms for our family of 2 parents, 3 kids for August. While connecting would be awesome, if they're just beside each other, or in the immediate vicinity, I'll be happy. Do I make the request now, or closer to August? And is it better to fax the request or phone it in?

TIA!
I always tell them when I make the reservation, and I call and confirm about 3 days before check-in date. Every time they have gotten us connecting rooms.

I've always wondered how this exactly works. Did they offer you only one choice of resort? Could you ask for a rate at a value or deluxe resort or ask for a different moderate?

You can choose which resort you want as long as there is availability. The first time this happened to us in May 2000 (I think)they asked if we wanted to book CSR for the same rate. This time they asked us if we wanted to try POR for the same rate. Like the above poster I want to try all of the resorts so I was happy w/ their suggestion. A friend of mine was offered AllstarSports and it was also the same price as SOG.

Is the Stars and Stripes Ticket the same as a "Park Hopper with Water Parks and More" Ticket?
Do they take a credit card at the SOG ticket booth?
How much savings do you get by purchasing at SOG over Disney?
Thanks!

What discount card are you talking about?

Probably the Tables In Wonderland card (formerly known as Disney Dining Experience). It's only available to annual passholders and Florida residents. You pay like $65 if you have an AP, $85 otherwise, and get 20% off your entire meal (including drinks) at most Disney table-service restaurants, and a few counter-service locations (where no TS option exists, like the Value resorts) for a year.

I believe the S&S tickets are unlimited visits to the water parks and Disney Quest for the duration of the ticket, whereas the WPF&M option adds only equivalent admissions as the number of days on the ticket (5 admissions on a 5-day MYW ticket).

Another difference is that a MYW ticket has a 14-day expiration (unless you pay for No Expiration), but a S&S ticket is only good for the length of your stay.

I'm sure SOG will take credit cards for tickets. There's a slight discount on the MYW tickets SOG sells, and no tax. You just have to check the prices on the SOG website and compare to Disney's. Also check your local ITT or MWR office.

I just wanted to post here that I will be cancelling a room at Shades of Green for the week February 21st - March 1st. Our friend, who was supposed to come along, was diagnosed with Breast Cancer last year after we made the reservations, and her radiation won't be completed in time for her family to come along.:sad2:

If anyone was looking to book that week, I can give you more info of when I will be calling and you might find availability.

Jack

Sorry if this question has been asked before. I just booked our trip for the first week in May. I think I remember reading that you can send a box ahead of your arrival and that Shades of Green will hold it for you. Has anyone done this? I really want to reduce the amount of baggage we check or carry on the plane.

Thank you!!! I'll call first thing Tuesday morning (instead of monday because of MLK Day) and request connecting rooms...

I made a reservation on line yesterday, but haven't received the confirmation email and the deposit hasn't been charged to my credit card. How long does it normally take?

Oh, and thanks again to everyone that helped me. We found out today that my DSD may be joining us, so having a sofa bed is really going to help out. Now she won't have to sleep with my 10 year old DS.

I made my reservation on a Saturday--did not receive confirmation until Tuesday. SoG reservations office is closed over the weekend, so don't worry, especially because this weekend includes the observance of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday on Monday--a federal holiday. I would bet that the reservations office will remain closed until Tuesday.

I called for our reservations yesterday. So we've got two rooms for July 14-18. After that we're going on a 7-night Disney Cruise on the Magic. It seems so far away.

btcrane, thank you. I didn't see your response until after I called and found out they were closed today. Hopefully I will get it Tuesday.

bigAWL, I booked for July 17th-21, so might see you there. I'll agree, it does seem far away.

That's great. I know you'll have a wonderful time or should I say Magical time?:)

We tucked a three night in between two SOG stays in Dec and it was great.

This was our first stay at SoG, and I hope it will not be our last. The rooms are much larger than any of the other WDW resorts and the staff was very friendly. We were able to park at Epcot and Disney Studios with no problems or cost. I cannot comment on the SoG buses as we had a van.

Our waiter at Evergreens told us they were closing on 1 Feb and they were going to change the building to a larger workout facility. We did not care for the dinner buffet but did like the breaksfast buffet (cannot remember the restaurants name).

No alligators seen but we walked to the Polynesian a few times to either eat or take the monorail to the MK.

Was I reading that post right. Is Evergreens closing?? Have a trip scheduled for late February and was really counting on Evergreens for our teenagers picky eating habits. Does anyone know for sure if it is closing?
Thanks,
firenurse

I was there a couple of weeks ago and didn't hear anything about it (and we ate there every day). I have sent an e-mail to SOG checking on this and will post their answer as soon as I hear back.

I too will be returning in a few months with a couple of picky eaters and would not be happy trying to find someplace for them.:sad1:

It's hard to imagine SOG would think an expanded exercise facility would be a better use of the Evergreen's building. Evergreen's not only serves SOG guests, but a large amount of golfers. That would leave the SOG guests with the buffet, the quick stop, and Mangino's. The buffet doesn't serve lunch, the quick stop isn't open for dinner and Mangino's is only open for dinner. Unless they are going to change those places, it doesn't make sense. And just where am I supposed to get my pina colada to sip by the pool? The waiter must have been mistaken.
