Sad when one of my highlights was seeing the Disney Cruise line pull in. I wanted to leave with it.
I can imagine it was like seeing a little piece of 'home'. I have never fancied a Disney Cruise around Europe, too many Europeans for my liking. I prefer to holiday in the States as I find the people much nicer and I can understand the language - sort of :rotfl:
Years ago my mum dated a guy in the US Army and my aunt dated a guy who was in the US Navy. There mcut be something in the genes making me attracted to a man in uniform - who can resist? Shame DH doesn't really fit in his anymore :rotfl:

Oh well at least LuvinBelle can sit by the pool with her drink watching DD while she has fun in the pool and DH can relax in the hot tub. All will be happy. :thumbsup2

Are you psychic or a mind reader? Because that's EXACTLY what I was thinking!! :rotfl2:

I've decided to not request a pool as we will be happy wherever they put us.

Thank y'all so much! (That's me trying to do my southern accent -- I'm from Ohio living in Louisiana)

:lmao: And for some reason we still have to keep the uniform and seven shirts.
I know, thankfully he has it in his Army bergern up in the loft along with all his other Army bits and bobs. He likes to get it out now and again and DS loves to look at his medals and try on his NATO peacekeeping beret and a Russian uniform that DH got on the night the Berlin wall came down.

Just wanted to thank your husband for his service and you for your sacrifices. We have a very large British community where I live. I am at the NATO base everyday, so I see all the armed forces working together for a common goal.

I did not "see" that you were at Naples. I've never been there but did lots of tours through Italy when I was stationed in Germany. I was in a NATO unit and I loved working with all the other countries' servicemen & women.

Clare D -- you are TOO funny! :rotfl:

Luvin Belle I think it must be all the British comedy programmes I watch, but it is typical British humour - the sort where not everybody gets the jokes.Have just seen your ticker are you all excited? Will you be staying at Shades of Green? (great name for a resort used by Service personnel)

I love British humor (or should I say humour? ;) ) My favorite movies are British movies -- Bend it Like Beckham, Love Actually, & About a Boy. (Though I must admit I'm a Transformers fanatic too -- but the main robot does have an accent, British perhaps?) I worked with Brits in a NATO unit & they were definitely the most fun to be around.

We will be staying at SOG. It will be our 1st trip as a family & we are all very excited. :cheer2: My DD asked me to not tell anything else about it until October (woh, that's today!) because it was making her want to go NOW!

I have decided I am not telling DS this time that we are going as he will be 6 on our next visit and I want it to be a surprise. We are flying into Orlando from Chicago as we have a family wedding so he may guess when we are ready to get off the plane after just 2 hours compared to 9. I am already excited so instead I am discussing the trip with our other son instead. He is nearly 6 months so he isn't exactly going to tell the other one :rotfl:
I hope you all have a great trip, the weather is much better at this time of the year as well.

Take care :yay:

Well it will be a surprise then. That makes it more fun. Have a magical trip! :cloud9:

On the official SOG site, it states that if you sponsor a room for someone you must accompany the guest at all times while on SOG property. Has anyone sponsored a room for family, etc. and has experience with this? Does this basically mean we have to stay with them the whole time we are on the property? What if we want to go our separate ways a day or two:confused3 Not possible?

You don't have to be by their side at all times, but you are responsible for them if they do something they aren't supposed to. If it's someone you trust, you have nothing to worry about. My husband & I took a few friends with us last year and had no problems. We all went our separate ways most of the trip. You will need to be with them if they want to purchase park tickets with the discount through SOG though. We went separately to the parks and to the restaurants on property. One guy left early every morning to go for a run and had no problems coming back onto property after heading over to the Poly and GF.

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure where you're seeing that. I'm looking at
http://www.shadesofgreen.org/sponsor.htm
and it says...

"As an eligible Shades of Green guest, you may sponsor up to three rooms. In addition, a dependent spouse can also sponsor up to three rooms provided the following conditions are met...

You are a registered guest at Shades of Green
You agree to be responsible for your guests
You must accompany your guest at time of check in. Sponsored guest will not be authorized to check in without the sponsor being present
Sponsored guest reservations must check in on the same day and must depart before or on the same day as your reservation
You accompany your guests while purchasing attraction tickets
Your guests must follow the rules of the resort "

So as long as you're with them for their checkin and at the SOG ticket office, you're fine. However...we've never actually sponsored anyone, so I don't have first hand experience.

WOO HOO WOO HOO WOO HOO!!!:dance3:

Why do you ask?? :confused3

We just added ANOTHER night to our trip!!! 7 nights @ SOG!! :cool1:

We do have to change rooms as our room was not available but it's okay with us! We have our regular pool side room for 6 nights & then an ADA pool side room for our last night! (We could have changed rooms our 1st night & then stayed in ADA room for 6 nights but we didn't want to take away an ADA room for that many nights & don't like the lack of counter space in the bathroom)

Can't wait! Now we can say we're going to Disney NEXT MONTH!!:yay:

This will be our 4th time at SoG. We love the room size (family of 5) and for the price u just can't beat it. We always take the walk to the Poly and catch the monorail. We have stayed in the new building and old one (loved both). I personally like the new one better, closer to main building, but kids like old one b/c of the pool. DH and I just love being on disney property and this resort makes it possible for those of us who have to watch our budgets.

Ain't that the truth about the budget! We kept putting off going because of costs and now we finally said "Let's do it!" And since DD is 9, this is the last year we can get a child ticket for her. I would like a new room but we HAD to get a pool side room so that didn't work out. I don't think any of us would want to walk to the pool from the new section after walking all day. Some say lazy, I say we like convenience! I like the room dividers in the old section too.

Is it usually crazy when you go in February?

We have had pretty nice crowds every trip. Never really have seen the resort crowded either (maybe just for check-in/out). We have stayed at both new and old part and I really don't care which section they put us in. My kids will go swimming, but it's not a big deal if we don't get a room close to one of the pools. They are 14,10 and 4, my little one is not a big fan :scared1: of the pool. Just have fun.

Hey everybody!
We are planning a trip to SoG in 2010, and I see that the room pricing is available- can I already book the room? :goodvibes

How far in advance should we book Easter week? I am assuming as soon as we can, just curious if this is too early. :goodvibes

You can only book 52 weeks in advance. I tried to book for two weeks and had to call back the next Monday for the second week. I need to call next week or so for next October (fall break) to be sure I get just what I want.

The rates always go up on October 1st, that is why you are seeing the 2010 rates included.

Just like our Tricare deductable, it all starts over in October.
