Hi, just thought i would let everyone know that husband got his date and leaves from Iraq on the 5th of Oct and we will be at SOG and WDW from Oct 9th to the 17th.
Thanks everyone for giving me ideas and I have already made some of the reservations.

Thanks for the kind replies , I am very excited about DH coming home . I have so much to do now, pack, get car ready, change oil and rotate tires and get beer to take with us.

Do you have to have your Military ID to make purchases at AAFES at SOG? We leave Thursday night yay: ) and I did not know if I would have to drag my (sometimes grumpy) Dad along with me if I need to make a purchase.

I don't recall ever getting carded when I went into the store. And I stopped at least once, daily.

Many years ago you had to show it for every purchase. Of the most recent years it seems to be only when purchasing cigarettes and alcohol.

The exception to this that I found was if you are buying beer or liquor. Then, you must have your mil id. (not just a DL)

Try Evergreen for German beer on tap - it's a great place to relax ..........

How late is the store open? We won't arrive til around 9pm, but I know the men in our party will want a beverage after being on the plane with 4 kids for hours.

Do they offer a variety of beers? Do they have other types of drinks, like Hard Lemonade or similar? How about wines?

Thanks for your answers. We had planned to make a grocery stop to pick up what we wanted, but I just saw that the ticket office closes at 9pm, and we have to get our tix that night so that we can be out bright and early the next morning for the parks. Since our plane lands at around 7:45, we are cutting it close already.

Jesters, I think that the store closes at 9. But the sports bar (Evergreens) should be open when you get there.

There was definitely a good variety of beer at the store. I don't remember exactly how extensive the collection of wine was, but I know we bought a great bottle of German wine. East Meets West also has wine, though you'd have to put it in your fridge and wait for it to chill. We didn't pay attention to the malt beverages, though I'd assume they have those too.

I have a few questions, they may be addressed somewhere else, but this thread is sooo long. Does anyone have pictures of the rooms now that it has been renovated? The website allears.net seems to have old pictures prior to the renovation. My son has peanut allergies and they are very willing to work with me in the parks but what about the places to eat at the SOG? Also we will be going from 18 OCt - 26 Oct and I was wondering about the pools there will they be open and lastly is one room big enough for a family of five (children aged 11, 9 & 4) We went about 12 years ago but that was before kids and I really don't remember how big the room was? Thanks.
