We only took the bus to go to MK. We drove to the other parks. What day was it. I think we only took the bus on Sat and Sun (June 21 and 22). I am afraid the vacation is blurring for me as it went by so fast and we did so much!!! Once I am home for awhile and start to look at pictures things clarify for me. I do remember we had a great time!!!!:thumbsup2

I don't think it was you then, I want to say this was going to DHS one day? Glad I didn't say something or I would have looked like a crazy stalker:lmao:

Has anyone ever arrived at the resort in the A.M. or around lunch and was able to check-in? Looks like we will be arriving at Disney before lunch and we have never done this before.

It depends on how full the resort is and the amount of arrivals and departures. Check out is 11:00, but a lot of people leave earlier. We arrived at noon and were allowed to pre-check-in, but were told the room wouldn't be ready until 3:00. Even when we returned, we had to wait until 3:30. They were extremely busy and housekeeping had a hard time keeping up with the turnovers. Some people couldn't get into their rooms until 5:00. We used that extra time to eat lunch at Evergreen's, explore the SOG grounds, try out the walk to Poly, and take a ride on the monorail. It actually worked out nicely.

In '05 we arrived around 11:30 and were able to check in and go to our room which was wonderful because we'd been on the Auto Train all night and I just wanted a shower.

Thanks for the advice. Boy, they did seem busy. What time of year was that?

I'm not sure if this has been done already. Is there a way we could make a list of our upcoming dates of trips to SOG to see if any of us will be there at the same time?

I like to put a Lime Green Mickey Head w/DIS written on it attached to our door. Last time we saw another door with a DIS Mickey head.

Our dates will be: December 13-21, 2008

I'm not sure how to make a list, but our dates are:

December 18-21
Cruise 21th-24th
December 24-27

We were there the first 2 weeks of June. It was booked solid. We found it interesting that, except for the check-in, it didn't seem crazy busy. SOG has a very calm vibe, unlike other Disney resorts. :goodvibes

That is good to know. Last trip we were there spring break and it didn't seem crazy either. We really noticed a difference in the noise level when we went to CR to eat one day. The lobby was so loud and going back to SOG was so calming.

Unfortunately, I procrastinated and SOG is booked solid for 2 days of our 4-day trip in August. :(

Can someone tell me about overflow rates? Where and how much is usually offered?

I haven't used overflow in like 8 years, but it used to be they gave you a value season rate no matter what the season - I'm not sure if that's still the policy. The last time we tried to get overflow rates they were not available.

we did this about 5 years ago. They gave us a choice of resorts available and we got about 40% off POR. Our friends got 40% the Contemporary Resort the same summer.

This thread is so helpful. We are looking into SOG when we go in April of 09. My husband is currently deployed right now so this resort will be perfect for us. Any other advice from those who have stayed at SOB for a first-timer here?

if you can make your reservations now. With Spring break, Easter, car races, etc. I think April can get very busy.

This may have been mentioned elsewhere--but the availability calendar on the website isn't entirely accurate. It showed 4-7 Aug as completely full, but when I called, I was told that only 5 Aug was full. So we were able to make our 6-10 Aug reservations! :thumbsup2

Always call if there is nothing available on line.

This has happen to me a couple of times, there is nothing on line, but when you call there are rooms available.

This has happened to us, too. So far when we called we have been able to get a room.

I tried to read all of the posts, but my eyesight started failing!! Haha!!

If we're doing a split stay between SoG and a Disney resort, do the same rules apply? Meaning, will they transfer our luggage for us or will we have to do it on our own?

We stayed at the Poly in May (for the kids' first trip!!), but this time around we want to stay at SoG. However, I have a 40% PIN that I am heckbent on using (since they're apparently rare, and I may not get another one), so we're going to stay at a deluxe at the beginning or end of our trip.
