*** Official September 2024 Thread ***

We may have to break my cardinal rule of never going to Epcot on the weekends during F&W because I have got to see Sheila E!
Yes Epcot weekends during a festival are always packed. But I have to go Ride guardians on the 21st as many times as i can. So I can hear EWF all day long!!

Yeah, I read about that on Reddit and when I saw our dates coincided with it I was like man we have to try that! What a cool easter egg. Still trying to figure out how to work it into our plans though. Originally the plan for that day was to rope drop AK, then leave for our midday break. Possibly hop to Epcot on the way back to the resort for Cosmic Rewind, then spend an evening at the resort. We were going to have a DIY dessert party and watch HEA from our room since we are in a TPV room at the Grand.

I'm not sure what we'll do now. I think possibly we will go into Epcot to catch Sheila E's first set, and ride Cosmic Rewind, but then just book it back to the GF ASAP. Our scheduled Food & Wine day is Thursday 9/19 for a reason lol. I'm not dealing with all that!

My issue with Epcot on F&W weekends isn't the bigger crowds so much as the specific nature of those crowds. I thought people exaggerated about how awful it can get then until I found myself there one Saturday night on a holiday weekend just to see fireworks after HS had closed. I was in World Showcase maybe an hour and it was just absolutely trashy behavior everywhere you turned. I'm no prude, I like to enjoy adult beverages, but the vibes were just not vibing and I couldn't get back to my resort fast enough at close. (Thankfully I was at BC that trip.)

We still have 1 ADR to decide on, but we have until the 16th to decide. Epcot is always a stressful day for us (DH, DS12 and DS9) and this is the day we haven’t been able to pick a ADR for. For some reason everyone starts to lose their cool on Epcot day, don’t know if it’s the heat from the lack of shade in future world or just the lack of rides, but there are always attitudes. I want so badly to be able to leisurely explore the WS. Last year we decidedly to definitely do a breaks for pool time midday and the Skyliner went down right when we got to the station, not weather related. We tried to wait it out, but left and the groans got louder the closer we got to the buses and wasn’t work it to go back after the long walk. Anyone else have a park that seems to stress your family more than others?

Oh my goodness, YES! It's Epcot for us, too! It's crazy because it's my kids' favorite park, but I think the LONG walk around WS combined with the heat makes for some grumpy attitudes. I won't lie...sometimes the grumpy attitude is mine 😜 Nothing a ham and cheese croissant in France can't fix, though!
Keep us posted on what you decide on!

Our is Animal Kingdom. Omg. I cried once. The heat. The humidity. The amount of walking. We unanimously agreed to skip it back in May -- going to revisit on my solo trip in September so I can see the tigers on Maharajah Jungle Trek without everyone else in my ear complaining that they need a drink and a bathroom break and to sit down for 10 minutes

Ours is Epcot as well. We're skipping this time around except if we decide to park hop as we are staying at BWV. Since Test Track is down for refurb and my kids pretty much only want to do Soarin, it's just not worth it for us this time.

I think it's a combo of the heat just hitting harder because of the insane amount of walking and all the concrete with such little shade, and Main Character Syndrome coming out in people in the worst way. Even on a solo trip last year I started to lose my cool at Epcot towards the end and gave myself permission to just dip one day and I went over to HS and just had a far more pleasant time snacking and watching shows.

Today was ADR day for me and two questions....I wasn't able to get Space 220 Lounge at all during my week even when booking exactly at 6 am 😭 not a total shock, but still sad. What does everyone use as a reservation finder? It's been a while since I've needed to use one so I wanted to see what was out there.

However, more shocking was that Rainforest Cafe in AK has no reservations after Wednesday, 9/11. It's kind of a tradition for us to eat there every year, so I was sad to see there was no availability as it's one you can usually book pretty last minute. Does anyone know if it's closing for renovations, etc?

Happy ADR Day! We've had great luck just keeping an eye on Space 220. Availability usually pops up. Last trip, my brother in law actually grabbed a last minute reservation the morning he wanted to go, so it definitely happens. We've used Touring Plans for a reservation finder.

I just checked Rainforest Cafe at AK and there was plenty of availability through Sunday, September 8th. This restaurant has plenty of openings. You might just need to wait another day or so. You won't have any trouble getting a reservation. :)

Yes, it has plenty of availability through Wednesday, September 11 and then it's completely full. I was just wondering if the restaurant was closing for something since it's strange not being able to get a reservation there. I booked Yeti as a backup so we have something for lunch, I just thought it was strange that availability seems to completely stop

I'm surprised that you got Yak and Yeti. We've had trouble getting that one. :)

Reserved today for our entire stay. Yak and Yeti was available on 3 of our nights. I grabbed 2 as its our favorite place to eat. I also saw a lot of open times for Space 220 and I was looking for a group of 7 for that. Rose and Crown had our fireworks dinner which surprised me. Relief its over as I'm always a little concerned until we get them!
