Official September 2012 planning thread! List on page 30!

Yes, that's a great plan! I think all too often people try to do too much and forget about the relaxing part! I know the past few years we have gone, we have made it a point to take an afternoon break at the resort and it really does make a huge difference!

We don't do naps, since I find it breaks up the day and I miss too much but what we do is 2-3 days of parks and then one off day, then repeat. We are going for 11 days but only 8 days in the parks. That way we get a day to sleep in and swim and hit up downtown for some easy going drinks and shopping.:cheer2:

We are doing our first disney vacation on Sept 14, 2012! I am soo excited! We will b staying at movies from 9/14 thru the 22nd..it's the first time w my DS n his best friend..would of love to stay in AOA..but no ref rooms before we come!!

I have friends staying in Movies the same date as you. We are right next door at Music...lol

Wow, that actually sounds like a dream to me!

LOL -- I have to remind myself sometimes that there are other people who would love to have what we have! The homesteading and homeschooling workload is pretty intense, but the acres of beautiful farmland and the mountain vistas make it worth it. (Our closest neighbor is 1/3 mile away!) We're new at all of this, too -- came into this situation about 4 years ago and we're still learning -- so I think we sometimes make more work for ourselves just because of our inexperience. But each new day is a delightful challenge.

Let's not talk about how much it's going to cost to board/care for all the animals while we're gone... :crazy2:

We leave 9/12 my countdown clock says I have 39 days to go,
when I count on the calendar 39 days brings me to 9/10
What am I doning wrong? :confused3

We also leave Sept 12 and my countdown says 40 days on the Disney website...are you counting the day you arrive and today?

You have to trick the countdown calendar. It's not taking into consideration that this year has an extra day. I just checked mine and it's right on! Four more Weeks and 1 day or 29 days to be exact!! :dance3:

I am counting today but not the day we arrive so that would be 40, (may ap says 39) we are doing a count down chart at home and I tell my girls what day to take down, I think I am just going to skip today so we are on the right count. Now if only I knew how to access my Wigits on my phone to change the date on the count down ap I would be all good.

Leap Year, I did not even think of that. Thanks

I always skip the current day in my countdown. The countdown for me is for how many more days past my current day we have to go ;)
:thumbsup2

:)
Hmmm....sounds like we need to do a house-swap! Want to sublet for a year or so? On my end, you'd get a delightful 150-year-old farmhouse (three hours' drive from any decent-sized city) in the midst of a lengthy remodel with some yet-unfinished walls, no interior doors or trim, and in desperate need of new siding. You'd also get our two dogs, a flock of chickens, some barn cats, a rabbit and two goats to take care of. I know you just can't wait to sign on for all of that!!

My DH says it sounds perfect and we will pop in to discuss the details at the end of September when we are finished with the mouse :) We love old houses and the more chickens the better as far as DD is concerned. Walls? who needs them.
PA is Pennsylvania right? My DD9 (homeschooled!) loves the Magic Tree House books and would love to live near Jack and Annie... And PA is kind of somewhere near New York? I have a thing about NY, haven't been but have this fantasy about living in an apartment overlooking central park.
Now you will be dying to know what you will be getting: Siding (um, desperately needing replacement would be an understatement for here), practically no storage, 3 small bedrooms, 30 mins from what WAS a major city until an earthquake last year took out the centre and many of the suburbs, fairly constant shaking (only 3 quakes today). BUT you will be steps from a safe swimming beach, you get to look out the kitchen window onto a beautiful park with playground, tennis courts and duck pond, forest walkways practically at the back door and the mountains are just couple of hours away. Think location and try not to think about the actual house :)

Are you watching the transportation board for a discount code? I'm sure you can find a deal with one of the airport rental companies as it gets closer.

I'm so glad we're taking the Autotrain so we don't have this expense. With 4 kids we have to rent a minivan and it's outrageously $pendy! Hopefully the train will be a good experience. Has anyone here done it?

Yes I'll keep checking till time to leave for better car rental deals using coupons or whatever. The prices for car rentals have jumped this year but renting vans is always more (the demand is higher). The prices for "big name" rental companies has pretty much doubled. I also have a backup reservation for Advantage Rent a Car (aka Hertz) for $113 Dollars for the week. Our plan is I'll pickup the rental and drive over to WDW, the others will take DME they are arriving on a different flight anyway. With DME getting most of the luggage we don't need a large rental car for just "running around" the Orlando area. :thumbsup2

You and your family are welcome to visit anytime! PA is Pennsylvania. We're in the dead center of the state -- near the home of the kind-of-famous ;) Little League World Series (kids' baseball). We're a 3 hour drive to Philadelphia, 3.5 hours to New York City, 4 hours to Washington DC, and 4.5 hours to Niagara Falls and the Canadian border (all in different directions). If you're interested in seeing this part of the US and don't mind renting a car and driving, we're quite central!

Your home sounds charming, shakes and all. I think our only problem will be getting my DH a year's leave from his employer :lmao: :lmao: :lmao . But if you ever wanted to do a shorter swap, I'm sure something could be arranged! I'm just sad our Disney trips don't overlap. It would have been wonderful to meet you. I'll bet our girls would be fast friends -- I think homeschoolers just click no matter where they're from.

Just looked at your trip dates and see you will be arriving in Orlando the very day we return to our charming house (poor us, lucky you!!), we have a few days in San Francisco before flying back. Would have been great to meet you. Your location sounds fantastic, in order to make it perfect I just need to confirm that you have copious numbers of squirrels in Pennyslvania, we go NUTS over squirrels :)

Sounds like great fun and your dates are almost the same as ours. 9/18-9/25.
Same MNSSHP too! My advice - get in the spirit and dress-up! When you are in costume you have so many more interactions with other guests and CM's. Our girls only group consists of my two adult DD's, DF and myself. We will be Miss Piggy, Kermit, Pinocchio and Ursula. Say "Hi" if you see us and have a blast!
