*Official September 2011 Thread!* Who's joining me?!

Ok, we are officially booked !!!!!! Just did it today. After a long discussion last night we decided to book CBR instead of POP. We just think we'll be more comfortable with the baby and having more space. We are booked Sept. 24th-Oct. 1st. Now it's terrible b/c I want summer to hurry up and get here. LOL!

Yeah! Maybe we'll run into each other there! I also want winter and spring to get here and get over so September will get here faster:lmao:
I'm going over all the dining options (man, there are ALOT!) and trying to decide on which are musts.

Yes, I will be trying to plan out our meals too. We have our favorites that we do every trip, so I already have those planned, but I would like to try a few new places.

I am so excited to get our dining plans made so as soon as we can make resies I will be set!
Dh was one that was "who cares" about Disney until we got to the MK that first day. After that he was hooked. He understood why I was so crazy about planning and obsessed about all things Disney.

:tink: I just booked our first Disney vacation!!! We are beyond excited! We will be at POP from 9/7-9/14! :ccat:

Changed our reservation today to take advantage of the current FD offer that is out there, after going back and forth since when we first booked last month we finally decided to change our dates and will now be going September 29 to October 5. Going 3 weeks earlier and saving all that money just makes sense. We are staying at the Contempory-I still need to change my tickers

:welcome: to all you newbies to the September 2011 thread!! So glad you could join us! :goodvibes

:cloud9: I just found out that one of our kids' friends is able to go with us when we go in September! I can't wait to start including him in some of our countdown activities!! :woohoo:

Here are some of the things we've decided to do (found ideas on other threads & adjusted them to fit our family):

1. Since we're leaving on September 10, we're going to do a Disney theme night on the 10th of each month leading up to September. Nothing too fancy, just something to get us excited. For December, we had turkey legs & loaded potato fries, then we watched Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull (dh's movie choice to make the first night fun for him ;) )

2. In a couple months, I plan on buying each family member a white pillow case & providing some fabric markers & fabric paint so we can decorate pillow cases celebrating our vacation. The older boys thought I'd gone overboard with this idea, but DH thought it was a fun idea! :lovestruc I thought about doing red pillow cases, but DH was afraid the paint wouldn't show up on the red ones... any ideas?

3. I have some Disney scrapbook paper, so once the countdown gets to a managable number, we'll make a countdown chain. Of course, I could make it a monthly countdown chain on one end & have the other end be the last few days before we leave... hmmm... I'll have to think that one over some more.

4. Someone mentioned a countdown to different preparations of the trip, like countdown to packing day. I think that would be fun, but I can't think of any other preparations that we could do ahead of time to countdown to... any ideas?

5. I ordered some red t-shirts for 15 of the 17 in our traveling party. My plan is to have something embroidered on the pocket area & give the shirts out closer to September. My original plan was to have it done by Christmas & give them as Christmas gifts, but I suddenly realized (about 1hr after placing the order for the shirts) that the kids in our group are growing kids. They may outgrow their shirts before September!! :scared1: The shirts were only $3ea, though, so I'll just hold off on the embroidery & purchase a couple of the right sized shirts later, if necessary.

6. Lastly, I'm planning to purchase the new Passporters book in a couple weeks just to give me a keepsake to pour over as I overplan and obsess.

On another note, my in-laws are sick of me talking Disney all the time, so just as a "woohoo"... :cheer2: ...I haven't mentioned it to ANY of them in the past TWO whole WEEKS!!! I can keep my mouth shut around them because I have you DIS folks to talk Disney to!! THANKS!! :flower3:

You have some great ideas there for counting down. I was just on a site designing T-shirts, I made up one for MNSSHP and one for the 40th Anniversary. I told DH he was going to have to dress up for the party and he said no way but maybe I can get him to wear a shirt :rotfl:

I drive DH crazy talking about Disney , geez look at us Christmas is right around the corner and what are we talking about :lmao:

I have last years Passporter which I did not use other than for reference not sure if I am going to buy a new one for this trip or not since our November trip got cancelled.

Ooo! Hadn't thought of a 40th anniversary shirt! What website are you using for designing t-shirts? I couldn't find any with reasonable prices that had any cute fonts :sad2:

I know! :rotfl2: I get nervous that I will be building my Disney vacation up to an unattainable perfection, but with that in the back of my mind for last time, I was able to keep it reined in enough to enjoy the actual vacation when it came around.

I think I saw that you can get the updated portions of the Passporter to update your old one to the present year. Not sure if it costs extra or if it's just a service they provide.

 Another thing I'm doing that I forgot to add is something I did with our last Disney vacation. I am putting together a Power Point presentation to present to the family showing what is in store for them. It has the time we'll leave, pictures of the 7-bedroom house we'll be staying in, pictures of the "must-see" attractions for each day of parks, and any other nuggets of interest I can dig up. I also have a Mickey Mouse Mannheim Steamroller cd I will play in the background while the presentation goes. popcorn:: I can't wait til the in-laws start to get excited about this trip so I can show them all this stuff!!! :yay:

I'll be at POR from Sept. 7-15! Right now I'm trying to figure out ADR's so I'll be all prepared when March rolls around.

Just booked our Sept trip to WDW. We are staying at Pop Century (18th-27th) Our family is 2 adults and 3 kids....let the countdown begin!:santa:

You have some fantastic ideas!!! I love #1 especially. I think I just may steal your idea. I also really like #3 and plan on doing that with my boys once we get about 50 or so days out.

The place I was designing the shirts on is CustomInk.com, they are not exactly cheap but do have a variety of shirt styles, the ones I made up came to roughly $20 a shirt so I figure that is not bad since I am not that crafty and if I did shell out $5-10 for a shirt then bought the transfer paper and had someone on the DIS make up designs it really would not be much cheaper and then there is the chance I might mess the whole thing up.

You can design the shirts and save to purchase later which I like since no way I can afford them right now with Christmas.

Thanks! Feel free to "steal" any/all ideas, that's exactly what they are, stolen from elsewhere on the DIS. :rotfl:

I saw that website a while back & got to the end of designing my shirt & for some reason I can't remember backed out at the last minute. Probably because of cost (15-17 shirts). Anyway, my shirts were on average $3 each & with the small amount of embroidery I want on each one (done by a friend with a machine), it'll be another $9 or so each.

Glad to see I'm not alone on that one...so many of my friends just don't get my excitement :confused3

Yes!! Y'all are the best!! Of course, DH has been very supportive of my frustration and encouraging me when his family just doesn't understand. ((DH))

We did a disney countdown chain last trip and my boys have already asked to do it for Sept. LOL!! I told them we would make on over the summer. It was way too early to make on now.
