***Official Planning Thread -DECEMBER 2024 - Welcome all!***

So the temps show low of 47F and high of 72F for my party day. Would any short sleeve dress be too chilly in the evening? I was thinking of wearing leggings under the dress but not sure if i need to bring a light jacket or long sleeve

I personally would be too cold in just a short sleeve dress at those temperatures. I am planning to be there at the end of next week, which is looking a bit warmer, but am bringing long sleeve shirts, a hoodie, a packable puffer jacket, and possibly a hat. Your cold tolerance may vary of course - I have that thin Southern blood.

My last Orlando trip at the holidays was to Universal in November. There was a cold snap and I think it got into the 50s at night with misty rain off and on all weekend. I had only brought a hoodie, jeans, and long-sleeved shirts. I was ok walking around but I remember being so miserable sitting down listening to the Mannheim Steamroller Christmas concert my last night! It was like the cold ground sucked all the warmth out of me. I am definitely coming more prepared this time since we are planning to close out the parks each night by watching fireworks/Fantasmic.

Haha yeah, I'm in Canada, it's getting into the negatives tomorrow. Earlier it was 0F. We have lots of snow and more coming.
Lol it's the heat I have more of an intolerance for. But, I do think you're right, maybe a long sleeve under the dress or light jacket to put over in the evening.
I have been to WDW when I had to wear a hat, scarf, and gloves with a spirit jersey and leggings so I know it can get chilly.

Thanks for the help and I hope you won't get cold!

With all the temperature variance, we’re packing layers and options.

It’s making my plan of “only one checked bag” unlikely. Even just the difference of packing two pairs of runners instead of runners and sandals eats up more luggage space.

On the plane in 48 hours! So exciting!

The first week of December still looks cold, especially in the mornings and evening. The weather looks like it will be similar to the weather we had during the first week of December last year. We had two days of really cold weather and then two days of nice weather. I plan on wearing jeans instead of shorts every day. I will decide exactly what I will bring when I see the forecast on Monday, the day before we leave. But it will definitely include a hat and gloves. :)

I have a down jacket from Lands End that is super light weight but very warm and folds into pouch. I figure I can wear early in am and evenings. I’m still hoping for afternoons warm and sunny enough to sit at pool even if water is too cool to swim. Disney’s idea of a heated pool and my idea are not the same.
Safe travels!

I would 100% plan on leggings and a light puffer jacket. Mid- low in Florida is cold

Sooo exciting!
I just finished up packing 4 suitcases!

We drop out cat at the vet for his "staycation" on Monday morning at 10. Then we leave for airport around 2:30-3:00 and in between is when I can finally pack! I have everything grouped together, it's just a matter of getting all in the suitcases.

Trying not stress our cat with luggage! 😂

I just bought a light down jacket from Eddie Bauer today. I had a gift certificate and they had a big sale. I think it will be perfect for the trip.

Our cat got upset when he saw the suitcases, too. :)

What would yall do?!

We have hoppers and we don’t start any of our days at Epcot. Which means - we cannot enter the VQ for guardians (we have military salute tickets so we need park reservations)

On Monday Dec 9 - Epcot deluxe hours were at HS and I was going to do to Epcot after fantasmic to ride it, but learned there is a 6pm VQ (we obviously won’t be inside the park).

On Dec 10 and 12, we start at MK and hop to Epcot later in the day. On the 10th we have 4pm CRT reservations so probably will hop over after we eat. On the 12th we have 5pm Biergarten reservations so will hop over around 4pm.

Ideally I’d like to not pay $18 plus tax for 7 people for a single LL, because I have a feeling my kids would want to ride it more than once so I’d need to pay that for the 10th and 12th. I’ll do it if there is no other option to get into the VQ.

What would my options be? I also plan to ask what my options would be at guest services when we activate our salute tickets. We also have DAS for 2 in our party, so if we got the VQ, we would need to convert that into the DAS.
