***Official Planning Thread -DECEMBER 2024 - Welcome all!***

29 days to go! Love seeing a new first digit —getting closer with each milestone.

That white chocolate peppermint igloo at the Roaring Fork looks great. We’re grabbing lunch there on our MVMCP day.

Started to second-guess our “quick service only” plan until I checked the latest Canadian dollar exchange rate. It’s going in the wrong direction! Sigh.

Sooo...we just booked a trip to Universal for next December!

Anyone going? That board is pretty quiet, I can start a thread!😂
My kids have been begging to go...but, I'm a Disney planner, not Universal. I have enough stress at work. 😁 I told them if they want to go, they'll have to convince DH to do it. 😂 Leaving it up to him - it'll never happen!

We’ll be there for a bit! We’re planning for a few days at Disney next Christmas break, and then three days at Universal. I went ahead and bought the Universal tickets the day Epic packages went on sale, not knowing how demand would be for the holidays.

There's not many planning groups like this! I joined a Facebook group but that's not the same.

I'll be pursuing the Universal boards here ... Look for me!

This upcoming trip, we check out from Disney after 5 nights and hop in an uber to Universal for another 5!

I’m looking forward to hot butter beer more than any WDW treat. 😁

As for Epic… we are thinking spring 2026 — with of course another stay at Disney World first.

My original plan for next year was going to be Universal but then I ended up booking our very 1st trip to Disneyland instead! I’m thinking we won’t make it to Universal until 2026. Either way, sounds like we will both have lots of research to do after this trip for next years trips! 😊

When are you going to Disneyland? We are going there for the first time next year, too! We're booked for May 6-13, 2025 at the Pixar Place Hotel, and then going to Universal Hollywood for 3 days after our Disneyland week is over.

RIGHT?! My jaw dropped when I saw the exchange rate recently. I was originally going to book all our LL and my friend would pay me his half with Disney gift cards but the exchange is just so bad he will have to book LL for 2 parks while I do it for 1 (the most important). I really hope it goes up after the election.

Nice! I very much dislike peppermint but that treat looks adorable. I'm really excited to try the cube treat at Grand Floridian

Sooo, is it too early to start looking at the weather? 😂 😂 😂

Ugh. I'm bringing warm and cool weather clothing, but I want to know now! I will starve myself for a month if I know I'll be putting on my bathing suit. 🤪

Also, I'm struggling with not decorating until after we get home. Normally we do it day after Thanksgiving but it sometimes stresses the cat out and we drop him the Monday for his staycation with his vet, so we decided to pretend to play it cool before we bring out luggage.

But I compromised and did my office!

@japanese maple: We will be in the pool if weather is above 70. The last time we were at the Poly the Oasis pool wasn’t open and kids were jumping into the only open hot tub in the Lava Pool area (dangerous-the steps and divider are not visible when the water is bubbling).

AKL Kidani has 2 hot tubs. Which side are you staying at? We couldn’t get in the hot tub at all because people were in there for hours with alcoholic drinks (bar next to the tub); no one was following the time limits (this was post COVID and there was social distancing). One person routinely left to get refills but the group stayed in for 2+ hours. The lifeguard told us about another pool but our kids were swimming in the main one and one adult was monitoring our youngest in the splash area.

We are in Jambo. 70....I'm not sure I'll go in the pool if it's low 70s, brrr! 😂

We aren't hot tub people so no worries there.

Just saw an article recommending comfortable shoes at Jollywood nights. I didn’t realize but you’re not allowed to walk barefoot in the parks (Incase anyone wanted to wear heels). If you do, have backup foldable padded comfy shoes (search for foldable sparkly comfort slip on flat shoes on Amazon)

Our toddler was not allowed on AlienSS (she lost one of her high top shoes somewhere in the park after renting a stroller. Also our toddler wanted to run around WTP ride outside the gift shop at MK and a CM stopped us. Fortunately our stroller was nearby and I had her robeez shoes in there. She said there was danger of glass (glass is NOT allowed in the parks btw)

Same here as far as struggling with not putting the Christmas decorations up as we normally do! We always put our tree up the day after Thanksgiving but have decided against it as we are leaving the next day. I’ll still have a couple days off after we return and plan to do it then.
