***Official Planning Thread -DECEMBER 2024 - Welcome all!***

We check in on 12/20 and out on Christmas Eve.

I'm hoping I'm not priced out of LLMP. That's one reason we aren't going to do the Christmas party the day we get there on the 20th. I would rather use that money for LLMP. There are four of us, so it could end up being about equal to four party tickets...that's my thinking right now, anyway.

If you have to choose, I would buy it definitely for your MK and DHS days if possible. You can probably swing AK and Epcot w/out it if you have patience for a few lines. And purchase Guardians at Epcot, Tron at MK and Rise at DHS if you can. I know, it's a ridiculous amount of money for us too!

I agree. I'd really love to have it all four days, because I know it will be busy, but HS and MK are for sure my top priorities.

Hello there on a Wednesday in July, counting the days!

Are you guys thinking ahead on how you might reserve rides in advance? I'm starting to.
As a group we just decided to purchase for each day of trip (outside arrival and departure). We know there are days when maybe we wouldn't have needed it, but honestly I'm doing all the planning and it's just easier this way! 😂

I plan to purchase/reserve our party days first so I can book Slinky before Jollywood Nights starts and then Tiana before Christmas party starts. Get those out of the way in case they have long lines during party. Also will purchase Tron for before party starts. And if we can buy 2 (which I don't think so) also Mine Train.

After those two days, I'll just buy/reserve in order of park days I guess. It's been since 2017 since I've actually had to reserve rides ahead of time. I'm rusty!
Sounds like you and I have the same plan!

Oh wait.. I forgot we have park hoppers..

We haven’t used hoppers since before FP+

After researching I saw this about the best days to go to which parks. Take into consideration parties, holidays, etc. Just a guide......

MK Busy Days Overall:
Monday
Wednesday
Saturday

Hollywood Studios:
Monday
Friday
Saturday

Epcot:

Animal Kingdom:

We are just picking our parks based on parties this year. If we are attending a party vs visiting a park on a non-party day. MK we are going on a day we are attending the party and then again on a party day when we are not attending. We don't plan to go on a non-party day, at least for now anyways.

DHS we are going on the day we are hitting Jollywood Nights and then again on a Monday evening. AK and Epcot just fitting in everywhere else!

According to the list, we are avoiding MK, Epcot on their busy days, but hitting DHS and AK on their busy days! It's a wash. 😂

We are two adult couples traveling together that have been to the parks many times so our trip will be pretty relaxed. We toyed with doing Jollywood Nights but my sis and I just don’t think our hubbies will enjoy it enough to make it worth the price. Plus, we are staying at AKL Kidani with a savannah view and Poly DVC so we want to enjoy the resorts. We’ve been at AKL Kidani before and the guys just love their balcony savannah time. Our plan is shaping up as follows:

Sun, 12/15: brunch at Homecomin’ and shopping/lounge hopping at DS; once our rooms are ready we will head to AKL Kidani, get settled, maybe take a quick swim, and then explore the resort savannahs and holiday decorations (Kidani and Jambo) and have drinks and food at the lounges (Sanaa if there is room at the bar, the one in front of Jiko, Victoria Falls).

Mon, 12/16: balcony savannah time in the morning; AK for the day. We love hanging out at Dawa Bar and listening to the African drummers in the morning. Then we will get QS from either Flame Tree BBQ or Satu’li Canteen for lunch, try to get into Nomad Lounge at some point, and if we’re up for a bigger dinner we will use my Landry’s card for a table at Yak & Yeti. If not, we will just grab some QS at the Mara when we get back to the hotel. I should note - I am going to try to book the Starlight Safari for either Sunday or Monday night but it will be a miracle if I get it… we will adjust our evening plans if we do.

Tue, 12/17: balcony savannah time in the morning and QS breakfast at Sanaa; resort check out and then Epcot for the day to enjoy the Festival of the Holidays. The guys like to spend time at the Rose & Crown Pub while sis and I run around the world doing some shopping, and we will all munch all day at the Festival food booths. At some point early evening, we will head over to the Poly to check in for our first stay there, which we are really excited about! We may take a dip in the pool, and definitely hit up Tambu Lounge and grab some late night bites at Capt. Cook’s. I need the pulled pork nachos!

Wed, 12/18: The guys are very excited that Tambu Lounge opens early so they’ll definitely want to grab a drink or two in the morning - LOL! We may do brunch at Kona Cafe, or hop on the monorail to eat at GF Cafe, which we all love. Then we will head to HS for the day, knowing that it will be an early evening due to the Jollywood Nights Party. We love the Christmas vibe in that park so much! We will definitely stay until it gets dark so we can see the show on ToT, which is a fave. We will most likely get a ressie for a drink at Oga’s Cantina, go to Baseline Tap House and/or Brown Derby Lounge, and just grab some QS or snacks somewhere as we get hungry. We will need to be out by 7 so we will spend the rest of the evening hanging out at the Poly, and we will try to get into Trader Sam’s that night (we will probably try the night before, too).

Thu, 12/19: more Tambu Lounge time in the morning; then we will head to Epcot for more Festival fun. If the weather is great we will head back late afternoon for some pool time (or we may rent a pontoon for an hour and take a zoom around Bay Lake if we feel like doing that) and then we’re hoping to get a later evening Narcoossee’s reservation. If we can’t get that one we will try for California Grill, Citrico’s, or Steakhouse 71.

Fri, 12/20: check out and luggage storage; then brunch at either Kona, GF Cafe, or Steakhouse 71, depending on previous ressies. Then we will have a little time to do some last minute shopping at the Poly store before we head to the airport around 12:30.

You probably see a theme that we like to have some cocktails (within reason!) and eat our way around! We definitely do rides and attractions too, but since we’ve been there a lot we don’t stress about hitting everything; we just go with the flow and enjoy what we can. I may buy the new LL passes for HS since lines always seem to be really long there, but other than that I think we will wing it.

Hi! Please add me to the list. We just booked 12/18-12/24 at Yacht Club resort. This is our first time at Disney for the Christmas season and we are thrilled. It's me, my husband and our 4 kids. We got 5 days of tickets and want to do at least one Christmas party. I'm leaning towards MVMCP since I think my kids would like that more than Jollywood nights. Our package included free park hoppers so I think that will be nice if we want to pop into Epcot at night from YC. Otherwise I have not done any planning. We are toying with adding a night at Universal on 12/17 since we've never been but for now it's just Disney. I'm looking forward to being part of this thread!

Welcome and you are on the list!

If your kids like Potter, add that extra night at Universal. A day spent in Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, riding the Hogwarts Express between is an amazing experience.

Who else will be watching tomorrow to see how the new multi pass stuff goes? :D

I will and will be taking notes! We arrive on 12/3, but rest of group arrives on 12/4. So I'll have to make our 12/3 reservations on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving (I think) and then the rest of the trip on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving (again, I think).

I work from home so no big deal, but honestly I think I will take the day before Thanksgiving off to be able to do the group! 😂

Park reservations made for our trip after lots and lots of internal debating. I’ve decided on

12/9 - start at AK will hop to Epcot
12/10 - start at MK will hop to epcot
12/11 - start Epcot will hop to MK
12/12 - Hollywood studios
12/13 - resort day with party at night!

Now to figure out all the dining for our group of 8!

Will definitely be watching to see how it goes tomorrow! I’d be taking the day off too to make our Fast Pass reservations but luckily it falls on a Saturday for me.

I’ll be watching for the next month! Gotta hear and learn all the nuances and strategies.

Welp, the multipass thread is ... something! 😂

I plan to just focus on the positive, enjoy the few months we have left of trip planning and not stress. We are lucky that we've been enough where we are the annoying "just being in the parks is enough" kind of people.

Let's stay positive here and just have fun planning together, reporting here any tips/tricks we learn along the way! :D

If you want I can add a section to the front page with tips on using this new system?
