***OFFICIAL*** October 2011 - Updated 10/08/11

I spent much of today (too much!) revamping our schedule and making touring plans. But it needed to be done. We had several major changes -- adding MNSSHP, removing Fantasmic and switching my parents from a park day to our arrival day. I needed to make sure that everything fit and that everyone got to do what they wanted to do.

I feel a lot better about the overall plan now. One of the issues with adding the party was making sure DS8 got enough sleep. Getting rid of Fantasmic and switching my parents helped with that, and it's better for my parents.

And I was able to lessen some of my son's Fantasmic disappointment by adding in fishing. Yes, i've got the only kid on the planet that wants to come to Disney to go fishing. :lmao: Ever since he saw someone fishing in the canal last trip, he's been dying to do it. So my parents will be bringing the fishing gear. And we'll do some pool time too.

Also, since DS and I won't be going into the park that day, I was able to put in a TS dinner with my parents. We're not doing any other TS this trip because of F&W. I would have liked a character meal, but our only option was Garden Grove and what minimal reviews I could find about the food seem to be pretty bad. So we're planning Cape May instead. That should be fun. :goodvibes And then we'll do the boardwalk, which is something we totally skipped last time. Maybe hit Beaches and Cream too.

Then 2 1/2 days in Epcot for F&W and MNSSHP. :cool1:

I also was able to log into the Sheraton site and change my Dolphin reservation. Rack rates dropped on Friday so I was able to change to the new rate and save $200. This is still backup plan B because the Travelocity rate saves us a little more. But saving money is always good. And DSis pointed out -- maybe the S/D dropped their rates because they know Disney is about to put out a GP discount. So crossing my fingers. :thumbsup2

Or at least, by the time you guys read this in the morning, it will be. My head has officially gone into OCD pack mode.

  • I've made a packing spreadshseet with multiple tabs (hand carry, toiletries, carry on, clothes)
  • I've made a list of things I need to either check to make sure I have or to buy (sun tan lotion, travel shave gel, etc)
  • I've created a schedule of appointments (in my head) for the week we leave

In the last few months I have been buying "deals" specifically for this trip. You know, groupon type things. So hopefully these places cooperate with appointments as I've made them in my head. Monday - spray tan (why not, it was cheap. ha), Tuesday - pedicure, Wednesday - eyebrows, Thurs - manicure, Friday LEAVE. As I was thinking about these appointments in the shower (yes, the OCD is that bad), it occurred to me that maybe it's finally time to pick up the phone and make these appointments. Yay.

Don't judge me by all these appointments. :lmao: I'm really not a girly girl, but I like to pretend once in a while. And why not for vacation? And I figure it's cheaper to do it by deals here than on property!

I think my costume should be here tomorrow, so we'll see what happens!

Have a great day!

That is my kind of people - I too have been thinking of all the things that need to get done - they are all already written down. I now take my Disney planning "notebook" (it's a 3 ring binder) everywhere with me.

I went to the $ store yesterday to get the last few organizational things I needed.

We talked a little more about our trip for next year and who wanted to go and so on - and guess WHAT???? DS 16 said he WANTS to go next year. So it looks like there are only 3 times that both of my kids can both go without missing school (16 year old goes to traditional, 9 year old goes to year round)- August, Thanksgiving & Christmas. I am not sure that if someone paid for it I would go for Thanksgiving or Christmas - the crowds are BAD!!! So it looks like we will be going in August - I guess I should start stocking up
on the water now. UGGGG - but it will be his Senior year so I
So I started to think about it, and I have started looking into the Cruise thing. DH & I have never been on a cruise, but both of my kids have been a few times with my parent's so we know they would LOVE to go again. I just don't know if it is worth the money - $6000 for 5 nights at Christmas - that is crazy high - we could stay at a deluxe for 8 days for that price

Anyways - I guess we will continue to talk about what to do - but I did tell DH that I had to know by the time we went in 18 days in case there was a bounce back offer.

nope, sorry. I have that link. I was kinda hoping for a 15% off code or something like that. In 2009, you could get 15% off if you paid with your Visa card. I'm not betting on getting a code, just hoping. ;)

yay for Mickey Mail!!!
did you see the Lion King in 3D...we are going to see it Friday after school!
bummer your spa isn't listed in the packet.
I'm hoping for a photopass CD discount too!
Anytime I start a convo with "on the DIS....." megan just :rolleyes1
No, we didn't see it in 3D. Unfortunately, 3D gives me migraines, so I always see everything in 2D (do you know how hard that is now? lol). It was so nice, though. And don't you know? Quinn watched it again yesterday! :rotfl: I looked for my Lion King 2 (Simba's daughter), but I must've had that on VHS and not DVD. Rats. Now I'll have to go and look for that.

And when are they going to release Hercules on Blue Ray?!?! That's one I would love to have with all the extras. :)

Not judging.....I am so far from a girly girl it's not funny. Yet I get my nails done about every two weeks and before we leave I am getting my hair done (my hair is actually white if I let it go).
And I soooo understand about the OCD. List, list,a nd still more lists. I ahve a binder I use for Disney as well. It's with me at work and I thumb through it at various points in the day to make sure I've done all I'm supposed to do.
And speaking of the girly girl thing....I'm the one with the spa appointment. :lmao:

Happy Monday, everyone!!!!

I am not a girly girl either but Kate (DD) and I are going to get our toes done before the trip. It's our special mommy daughter time.

After reading through the posts from yesterday and this morning I noticed we are at 29 days.
:banana::banana::banana::yay::yay:

How have I missed this, I can be in the Sept and Oct thread! We will be at CBR 9/23-10/3. Can't wait! :cool1:

My friends and I are getting together soon to create our shirts for Halloween and for another day at the park. We are creating a glow in the dark Halloween shirts and then a tye-died shirt. We have a great set up for MNSSHP on Oct. 31. My friends and I are super excited for this trip. We have everything paid for and we arrive at Pop Century around 1:40pm.

We will have to decide where we are going to eat before heading into the Halloween party.

It's getting closer!!!

I did a practice pack over the weekend:lmao: I had to make sure the kids had enough of warm weather clothes. They both grew a lot over the last six months so their inventory was greatly deminished. I aslo had to make sure I had enough luggage to haul our gear and still have souvin-ear space. I thought I may have to buy one more suit case. Fourtunatly (or unfortunatly depending on how you look at it:upsidedow) I don't have to go shopping for luggage. I have a large gym bag that will work for DD's gear, DS's gear will go in the smaller suit case, and DH & my stuff will fit in the large suit case.

My "week of" schedule is pretty small. Of course there's laundry detail. Sometime that week DSis will come pick up our kitty Figaro to kitty-sit. DD and I have an mani/pedi appointment set for 2 days before we go. The day before is packing day, get the kids cleaned up, and get gas in the truck. We have an 8:30am flight out of CA and it takes an hour to get to the airport. We'll be leaving our house no later than 6am.

DH still refuses to wear a costume:confused3, party pooper. The rest of us have ours though. DD did get the gypsy princess costume. It almost didn't happen. This costume was a hold over from last year; they aren't making any more, so what the stores have is all they're going to get. Our local store had two, put they were to small. We found one a size bigger than she needs the next town over, but still fits and I don't have to modify it so that it's age appropiate :). We went to yet another store two towns over too see if they had one in the right size, but to no availe.

This week I'm going to work on my Halloween yard display. I have to wait till DH gets home from work to get into the attic space and get the decorations.

That reminds me, I have to get the house ready for my mom to move in (just for the week). Ha. She will be grand-pet sitting. lol

Wow, Goofy_Mom, you are busy! I am going to try and start decorating for Halloween as well, but I won't be able to use a lot of what I normally do: I came home from work last week and my short tree and one bush were removed from the front of the house. :scared1: Seems hubby didn't want to deal with them anymore. LOL As the yard is his domain, I didn't care.....as long as I have a place to put my twinkly lights. I LOVE TWINKLY LIGHTS. No matter the color, I have them up all year. Primaries for Christmas and Yule, orange and purple for Halloween (although, I did see green and I liked them), and pastels for Spring.

Anyhow....there are a total of 7 holly bushes left and we are planning on removing them within the next couple of weeks. I have to have my dad come over with his chains and his pick-up though....we're just going to rip them out rather than dig them up. It's a lot easier.

I keep re-going over all my lists and there's not a whole lot for me to do but wait at this point. I emailed DD's teachers this morning. They are all so wonderful! They all said they would make sure she had her stuff before we leave!!!! I've never had that response before, so this is terrific. In 2007 & 2009, I was told that "we don't have to give you the work" and "it's an inconvenience for me to prepare that for your children". Imagine my surprise when the teachers are actually working with me this time. Although.....it could have something to do with the fact that I've recently become friendly with the superintendent (sp?). :lmao:

OK...off to do more work. I cannot believe how fast today is going. Or how full my day planner is looking between now and October 20th!!!

I've added you to the first post. You've got the first listing!!!!:cool1:

So.....do you stay at CBR because you love Pirates so much? Are you staying in one of the pirate themed rooms? You are so lucky to be going at the end of this week. Have lots of fun.

PS - love the Tag Fairy quotes!!!! :rotfl:

I have to control myself at work. I've resisted to giving them countdown updates only weekly and only telling them stuff when they ask. :) ....

or when I'm buying something else for the trip....

or when I need help with a decision....

You get the idea...:yay:

I just don't understand why people seemed to get angry about it. I mean, if they want to go to Disney, I will TOTALLY help them plan it. And if one more person says "Your going to Disney AGAIN?" I may pull their hair out. I get it, not everyone loves Disney like we do....but they SHOULD!!!!

(did I tell you guys....only 18 more days, however if I count it in "sleeps" it sounds better...so 17 sleeps till we leave for Disney)
