I'm not an "Online Check-In" gal either
Most of the time I am not satisfied with my pre-assigned room, so I typically have to negotiate with the CM to see if they can do any better.
For instance, last year at Wilderness Lodge I had 2 reservations/rooms booked. I had requested connecting rooms but did not get it. The lovely CM behind the counter was able to do some finagling, make a phone call, and eventually got us 2 wonderful, connecting, courtyard-view rooms!
Sometimes there is nothing they can do to accomodate your requests...but sometimes they can - and I at least want the option of being able to ASK.
