Our trip is one week from today.Today my father in law's doctors said they cannot treat his cancer after all. Chemo and surgery will not be effective. Now that they have the biopsy results, they feel he has between three weeks and two months. We live in Virginia and my FIL lives in upstate New York. DH is there visiting him now. They said their goodbyes today. DH can't bear to stay there until the end and his father does not want that either. So as of right now, unless something huge happens between now and Thursday night, DH still wants us to take our trip. If we have to come home early then we will but if not, we will go back up and see his father as soon as we get home from the World. This will be a very bittersweet vacation. But I think it will be good for us. I don't think it would be healthy to sit at home waiting by the phone for the dreaded phone call.

So with as much excitement as I can muster up under the circumstances . . . 7 days!:yay:

I'm so sorry for you!! We'll be praying for you and your family. I hope you are able to enjoy your trip!

Happy October, everyone! It feels good to finally be able to say "We're going to Disney...this month!"

I know!! I'm so happy to say we go to Disney THIS month!!

My countdown hit the teens today!! 18 more days. I need to have DH get the suitcases from his parents (we're borrowing their new ones). I told him we need to get moving on what we are taking.

Today was a big prep day for us. I rechecked the packing list then had everyone gather their belongings. My younger DS had grown a bit, so he needed new shorts and both boys needed new hoodies. Then we measured what we thought were carry-on sized bags only to find that they are too big and we needed new luggage!

Off to the store for the clothes, luggage and a potpourri of travel sized toiletries. We got an amazing deal on the luggage ($25 a piece at Sears!) and a bunch of clearance shorts for my DS.

Back home I was faced with piles of stuff and had a few moments of fear that all this stuff will never fit into the 4 carry ons. I thought myself mad for trying to do this trip without checking any luggage and considered rethinking the whole plan. :headache: An hour later, I stood smiling at comfortably filled bags with everything in them! :woohoo:

We now have a week and a half to go with none of those clothes or items, and less shoe options (oh yeah, one bag is ALL SHOES :scared1: ) unless we tap into these packed bags. I am soooooooooo excited.

Just realized our carry on is too big. I was hoping to take 2 carry ons on the plane, and check just one bag. Now i'm wondering if i should just try to do one carry on? :confused3

Not sure I want to be looking for new carry on luggage right now.

Mickey Mail on Day 25 - now the only thing left to do is order breakfast items through Garden Grocer!!!

What a game! What a day!
It was AWESOME! :cool1:

I'm assuming you're talking about Bucky and Co.? :cool1: Great weekend for Wisconsin sports!

Happy October 1st to everyone :goodvibes
Quite possibly a once-in-a-lifetime, perfect "trifecta" for Wisconsin sports!:woohoo:

Sorry Pack! I am watching the Brewers today:rotfl:

We're trying to figure out how our TV's picture-in-picture works.;)
And of course I'll probably fit some Disney packing in there too!:rotfl:

It is a great weekend for Wisconsin sports, even being a Bears and Cubs fan I can appreciate how exciting it is for the rest of you :goodvibes

Let's go Bears and Steelers! :lmao:

It was AWESOME! :cool1:

It was an awesome game! It didn't have that same feeling in the stadium as the Ohio State game, but it was really fun all the same. Especially when the students started singing the goodbye song and then everybody in the stadium joined in for our newfound Nebraska foes.

you could say that about the U of Minnesota (except we lost by a lot)

Yeah, that also was quite the game. We were watching it at our tailgate on someone else's tv. Holy Mackarel!

And then I forgot to post the most exciting thing for me today that I had specifically come to say!

We are in the teens today!!!! 19 days to go!!!

That calls for a whole lotta dancing AND creepy guy!

 :cool1: :dance3: :woohoo: :yay: :cheer2: :hyper:party: :jumping1: :dancer:

I think i'm going to break the creepy guy out next friday when I hit the 14 day mark.
My normally drama free daughter has been a handful today--one meltdown after another. I have gotten nothing done for our trip, she's been glued to my side all day. It's 6:30 at night and I'm seriously considering going to bed--that's how bad it's been!

it's getting so hard to show my Minnesota pride (lol) I will always be a Gopher and Viking fan, but this year it is getting pretty easy to cheer for Wisconsin teams. Don't worry Minnesota Dis'er's I will always have purple and gold pride.

All right, I have been working on my LGMH. ;)

I wanted to make buttons, so I didn't use the Home Depot paint samples. I think the green is a little off. What do you think? :confused3
Looks great- i am goign to try and laminate mine tomorrow during lunch at work. I just cut out my own lime green mickey head and wrote in sharpie on it. i think any shade of lime green is close enough! i'll post up mine when finished.

Thanks for the positive feedback all!

We are at 23 days - 3 weeks from Sat. we'll be at the World!
Everyone at work is sick of hearing about it, so I am trying to keep it low key, but I am actually about to burst!
The crowd numbers going up sucks, but we were there at Easter last year and every day was a 10. I figure anything less will be better.
Does anyone use their Planet Hollywood coupons? Between DM and our package we'll have $30 to spend there, but I am not sure which time we visit DTD that we will want to eat there - so I have three different ressies for PH! It's probably not that good because I don't see anyone getting excited about PH.
I hate PH- we went like 15 years ago and used those vouchers then, but the food and even the atmosphere is just so mediocre. It is so early 1990s. lol- anyhow, even with a free meal there, i would skip it unless i was really on a tight budget. :goodvibes

I just found this thread! Our family is going to WDW for the first time Oct 10-25 and we are soooooooooo excited!! I took two of our boys in March so I could scope it out and we could get the oldest used to the airplane, security and the lay of the land. I'm not sure what it's going to be like to take 8 kids on the plane though for the first time. Hope we all do OK. So if you see a mom pushing a triplet stroller it might be me!
We plan to do MNSSHP on Oct 18th.

We are staying at BWV for 3 nights, AKV for 8 nights and BLT MK view for 3 nights. I know some moving around but we wanted to experience each thing because I don't know when we will get to this trip again!
welcome! 8 kids in disney- what an adventure that will be and what a blast too!!!! We are there Oct 14-22, so maybe see you. AND we are doing the party Oct 18th too!!! Look for a little Peter Pan and us. We only have the one kiddo for now (hoping for two if in vitro works next year again!). But just our little pack of 3 for now. What are you guys dressing as for the party? definitely post up some pics of your shirts too! :) :thumbsup2

I would love some feedback!:rotfl:
Completely Fabulous!!! now where is Ken!???? ;) you did an awesome job putting it together.

HUGS :hug: I know how hard this must be, but glad you are still able to take your trip. We lost my grandmother while my sister and I were on a trip. We got a call from my family while we were at Magic Kingdom getting ready for the fireworks. Made for a rough night. But we tried to keep remembering she would want us to have a good time. I'll say some prayers and send some pixie dust your way and for your FIL.:goodvibes

I have officially begun packing! :cool1:

I have had a Disney box going for a while, but it was just a place to throw things as I got them. I now have 4 suitcases laid out and there are things in them!:lmao:

DH thinks I may have lost my mind. I have a list of what is in each suitcase - is that a bit much?:rolleyes1:lmao: Seriously, when I start packing early, I forget what I have and where it is! I have to have some method of keeping myself organized, so - list. I am, also, making sure that there is at least one outfit for each person in each suitcase - just in case one or more is lost by the airline.

I went over the plan with the family tonight - I have the park days laid out for the most part, but there is plenty of wiggle room toward the end of the week for changing things up.:thumbsup2

So excited!:banana::banana::banana:

Posting on both Oct. threads
I totally started packing today! lol, so you aren't alone there!

12 DAYS!!!! can you believe it. My how time has flown. We've had this trip booked for almost a year now.

We now have our MNSSHP tickets order, my son's park hopper (we have AP's), garden grocer order placed, rental car booked etc. Just need to call member services tomorrow to ensure my room requests are in. then online check in on Tuesday!! Need to figure out if i am wearing a costume or not. I have two options, not sure I will do either. I'll let you guys in on what they are soon!

Started packing today. i actually got my son's clothes all bagged up in ziplocs, and wrote the day in sharpie on each. Makes it easy when we get there, just pull out the bag for the day! I alsom an adorable P&F shirt and Jake and the Neverland Pirates shirt at TDS today! I'll post pics up tomorrow. Going to have to find where to rotate those into his clothes for the trip!!!

I have so many friends at the world right now for the 40th, so it has been a fun weekend watching and listening to everyone there! also attended a great local DIS meet on Saturday too, even got a call from Pete while we were there.

okay, back to making lists etc. Going to try and post a lot of pics tomorrow at work when i have more time. sad, that i have more time at work. only if my new PC is in. I got a lovely trojan virus last week and IT is supposed to be delivering a new computer at work! let's hope! I need to DIS! :rotfl::lmao:

This weekend is a full day of shopping, lunch and dinner for my cousin's 60th bday, she's like a second mom to us. Sunday we might tackle the TX State Fair. So i gotta get busy finishing up packing. WE leave next Friday- i can't believe I can say that now!

So I have a major debate going on in my house right now. We are thinking of skipping MNSSHP :sad2:

Which sucks, because that was one of the main things we wanted to do. But I just don't think I want to spend over 200 dollars for the 4 of us. We don't do crowds all that well, and DH flat out refuses to wait in line for characters if it's going to be an hour or more wait. And to be honest, I don't think my DS or DB will want to wait that long either. Especially my DS. All these threads talking about how crowded it is that they can't even move and how there isn't even room to walk are kind of scaring me.The main reason why we would want to go is the parade and fireworks. The parade we can do nothing about, but instead we're thinking of going to the beaches at Poly and watching them there one night. While we enjoy Halloween, we're not "into" it.

However, it's not completely certain we will skip it yet. We still have 3 weeks to decide. Ahh I'm so torn.
