:cool1: Are you in Texas or the midwest somewhere? I know the heat there has been oppressive with no relief!

I'm in Memphis. We haven't had it as bad as Texas, but still 110-120 heat index for a few weeks was plenty!

We were planning on going mid-October. We were going to get tickets through the YES program. I've been waiting on "official approval" from my boss for the time off. I checked the site this morning and the class was open. I got the approval from my boss this afternoon. I went back online to register and the class had closed. :sad1: I am literally crying. I don't know what we are going to do.

Oh no! Try calling them tomorrow and see? Maybe look at other ticket deals instead? :(

THANK YOU!!! I've been calling once or twice a week for about 2 months now. I'm going to call as soon as I finish this post.:yay:

:thumbsup2

Also, thanks for all the "welcomes" to the DISboards. I think I'm becoming an addict already! :upsidedow

Thank you! I just booked us for Oct 26th!

Congrates! I am so happy to finally have my last ADR for the Wishes Dessert Party booked and know others who have been waiting feel the same way as me
Just wanted to post to see my ticket!!!! Just about a month and a half for me!

Today I went to Panera and they told me I had a free espresso drink that expires on Sept. 28th! That's the day I leave! And I keep seeing commercials for a new show that premiers Oct. 2, which is the night we come back.

You KNOW you're getting close when you start seeing dates in other things!!

The time is just flying by the last few weeks soon(on Friday) I will hit the 2 month mark

Oh No ! :sad2: I am so very sorry. Maybe keep checking for a cancellation?

I am going to MK on a MNSSHP day Oct 13th and they don't have the dessert party then. Not that I need it:rolleyes1

Unfortunately the Dessert Party is only offered on nights Wishes is shown, not during party nights.
We are going to the party on 10/21. Only heading over to MK on the 22 for Wishes and the Dessert Party that evening.

I called and the CM said that the class was closed and there was nothing he could do. They do not have waiting lists. We are keeping our room reservations for now and will hope that another class opens up. :wizard:

I know I will sound silly here, but what is the dessert party? Is it a ton of fun? Good for kids?

The Dessert party happens at the MK on nights when Wishes is scheduled. They rope off the Tomorrowland Terrace and people with reservations can go in and have desserts and refreshments without having to deal with the crowds on Main Street jockeying for position to see the fireworks. It's a great location to view the fireworks and is a welcome respite after a long day in the parks!

I know I PM'ed my info, but I forgot to post to everyone else! We're heading down for our honeymoon on the 7th and staying at POR until the 10th, After that, it's a stay in a suite at the Swan from the 10th-15th. And with all of the festivities giong on in October from the F&W Festival to MNSSHP, I don't knwo where to begin!

Thanks for the quick response! I went back and read my notes. We are skipping it because we don't know how many of our group is coming that night.

70 Days!!!!
Has anyone booked any of the F&W events? In the past I have grazed around the kiosks. Wondering if any of the events are worth the hefty pricetag?

a quick question about the Dessert Party - can you leave it to go watch the parade then come back and watch the fireworks? I redid my entire days so we could see the Electrical Parade and I don't want to miss the parade but I love the dessert party.:happytv: that's DS watching Jake.

So cute to have a Minnie party! I tried to talk DS into a Mickey party (since I had all the stuff left over from his brother's party 2 years ago) but he insisted Cars. He'll be 3 on Sept 2nd. Glad to see another person that waited until just after 3 - everyone thinks we are crazy for going 1 month after he turns 3, since 2 is free. But it is just when it worked out. :confused3

We decided not to do pins. I've never done them before but I just envision the boys playing with them and sticking themselves and having drama in the middle of the park. I'm not up for that!

Yeah, we decided 3 was better than 2, even if it is only a few months after. We also will never do summer in Disney again, so we would never have made it before she was 3. It wasn't worth it to try and sneak the trip in under the wire.

Good point on the pins. That's just another reason for me to give DH NOT to trade pins this time around. We'll be going back in 2013 after the Fantasyland expansion is done, so we'll start trading then if she wants to do it. Besides, if we get there and he somehow talks her into it, then he can get the lanyard and some pins there.

I felt the same way about the pins when the kids were younger. I will say that they LOVE pin trading when I finally gave them some pins to trade (ebay - about $1 a pin or less!). They were 5 & 7. We NEVER take the lanyards in the morning to the parks but typically only took them to dinner or when we were 'shopping' or doing more casual things where I could keep track of the lanyards. And they sometimes take the lanyards when we go to a park in the evenings but they know they have to carry them and that is not always comfortable (especially in the hotter daytime temps.) But when you do start, the kids really do like it!

Hey anyone that booked Southwest online they are having a sale and I got $15.00 back. That's enough to pay for a early bird check in. I just typed in my confirmation number and changed the flight for the same time but the new price. Hope this helps someone.

Thanks! I love Southwest for this reason!

Too funny because I always get excited when food expiration dates start approaching my Disney dates!!

I was wondering this myself! I've never gone during food & wine festival but am not sure I want to take away walking around the showcase to go to the paid events. But would love to know others' opinions!

Thanks! This is a big help! :thumbsup2 I wanted to wait until next trip and DD will be 5 then, so I think this just confirms it. We do have some Toy Story pins we got as part of some Disney promotion a few years ago and I've kept them, so I'll bring them just in case DH really gets stuck on this idea. I like the idea of only bringing them at night to dinner and special events. That'll be a really good test if he insists. I just think it's such a great, fun thing to do that I want her to understand what she's doing when she finally gets started. I don't want it to be a chore or something Daddy wants to do and just drags her along.

About to go online to see if I can make some ADR changes. For some reason I didn't look in advance, but our DHS day is one of 2 Fantasmic! days for that week and we're not going! :scared1: Holy crowds Batman! So I'm going to try to switch our Tusker House breakfast from Wed to Thurs and switch those park days. Fingers crossed!!! I'll let you know!

ETA: No such luck on the Tusker House switch. Right now the only Thursday ressie available is 9:30 and that's too late for us. Since our Friday is open I think we'll just do DHS on Friday instead of Thursday. We'll see how it goes.

When I was there last year, they gave us wristbands to wear in case we needed to leave the terrace and use the restrooms. I'm sure as long as you keep your wristband you shouldn't have a problem...

We will be there Oct 7-13 staying at POFQ going to the MNNSHP on Oct 11. We are closing in on the "under 50" crowd. :dance3:

I sent a pm a few days ago, but our dates changed since I sent the PM. We are now going Oct 14-17 and staying at CSR!!!

We haven't since we will have our almost 4yo with us. I wouldn't hesitate putting him in the kid's club (he would love it, in fact we used an in room sitter 2 years ago), but nothing has jumped out for me. We aren't huge foodies anyhow. I was hoping for a whiskey seminar during our dates, but there isn't one until NOvember. DH would have enjoyed that. I might not mind one of the mixology ones or chocolate one, but I think we will pass since we are already spending extra on the MNSSHP, Pirates and Pals cruise and Pirate League. We will thoroughly enjoy the food kiosks though! We might go back in Oct/Nov next year, so we can check it out this year (our first F&W) and see what looks of interest to try next year.

I did receive the F&W guide/booklet in the mail today. Not sure if DVC sent it or what- i didn't request it that I can remember anywhere. It has the full map, all the seminar descriptions and everything listed in there! :thumbsup2

I know we left for the bathroom. I think we had wristbands or something. You cannot see the MSEP (in our case it was back when it was still Spectro 2 years ago) very well at all, unless you really zoom in on your camera. So if you wanted to see it w/ a decent view, you would definitely want to leave the party area. The party itself was great though- we enjoyed the selection of desserts and had one of the best tables in the house- right up front! We hate lining up early for parades or fireworks (we just are not patient and hate crowds), so this was so nice for us- we didn't have to line up with huge crowds for a spot and still had a wonderful view! it was worth the price for that alone almost for us. :rotfl:

We are booked at the Party for the Senses on Oct 22. We are definitely foodies and looking very much forward to this experience. :cloud9:

When we were at the dessert party in 2009, we were not given wrist bands. I don't know if we would have been able to leave the area to watch the parade, but I didn't notice anyone who did so. This year, we are watching the parade and fireworks from the hub on one day and then have the dessert party another day. :goodvibes
