Thanks for making that list!

I don't have enough posts to send a private message, but can you add us to the list? It's our first ever visit!!

ASMo from Oct. 19-26.

Thanks!

Thanks for your feedback everyone, it is appreciated.:dance3: The TAs' here seem to have very little knowledge of the USA aside from LA. We had planned to leave LA and the eastern states on the bucket list for another trip. But Air NZ only flys into LA and then UA cancelled our connecting flight that afternoon and we have to wait until the next day for another one. Plus we have a 8 hour stop over on the way back. So will get a quick look at it.
I think you are all right we need more time at Disney - at the moment we have a 5 day pass and over the following 5 days were going to do Universal, Seaworld and a shopping mall to get all the goodies to take home. I think we might change to a 6 day pass and perhaps stay at Disney the day we checkout and head to our Universal resort later in the day. Otherwise we may come back for a day while staying at Universal, I assume that it is not far and there will be taxis or bus?

Sherie
If you are doing seaworld and shopping as well then you will probably fill the 5 days you have alloted for Universal.
We only did Universal and Islands of Adventure.
There are taxis and they are not expensive from what I hear.
You have an amazing Vacation planned. I live about 3 hours from New Orleans and we go about 3 times a year.

I sent the PMs, but I'll post here too! Mom and I are coming down October 7-11, staying at BCV. Here are our plans:

10/7: Hang out at resort, dinner at Mara @ AKL, explore Boardwalk
10/8: Food & Wine (first time!)
10/9: F&WF
10/10: Whispering Canyon Cafe @ 1:15pm, MNSSHP (first time!)
10/11: Cape May Cafe @ 9:45am, Downtown Disney

We are excited-only 138 days! :cool1:

Scott & Sheri's 1st Disney trip W/OUT kids:

Oct 4- check in Dolphin and head to F&W Fest
Oct 5- Back to F&W Fest..Ohana's for 6:30 Dinner
Oct 6- 1:50p lunch at Tutto's..park hopping
Oct 7- Park hopping...Il Mulino at 5pm for dinner

Really!! I have wanted to go to New Orleans for so long hence the number of days we are spendng there. Can you recommend anything that we should see/do there. Currently trying to research all the plantation and air boat tours and some cycling tours.

Thanks for info on Universal I think a 6 day pass for Disney will keep our options open so we can go back if we need to!!

I am so envious of you guys going into summer, we are fast approaching what is going to be a very unpleasant winter. I really dislike winter!! This year is going to be a hard one with all the power outages we are having (our temporary lines can't cope with the demand) and all the cracks in my house including right through the concrete foundations. I am keeping myself busy with mountains of work and planning for our first big trip to the USA.:cool1:

I thought I might post our holiday so far on here as someone may have some tips and ideas for the places we are visiting, I am trying to research everything and don't want to miss a thing!!

LA - 1 night
New Orleans - 6 nights (3 on our own and joining a coach tour for remaining 3)
Balance of coach tour:
Natchez - 1 night
Memphis - 1 night
Nashville - 2 nights
Atlanta - 1 night
Savannah - 2 nights
Orlando - 1 night

Board Freedom of the Seas for a 7 night cruise with ports of call in Labadee, Falmouth, Georgetown, Cozumel

Disney World - 5 nights
Universal - 5 nights

Back home to reality!!!1

If you have time, while you are in Atlanta, look us up, I live 30 - 45 minutes south of Atlanta (depending on traffic).

Thanks for making that list!

:welcome: to the thread, I have added you to my list. BTW, you will LOVE WDW, there is nothing like your first trip.

I can only tell you what our dear friends told us (they use to live there) when we visited them. While in the French Quarter, if you see someone on the ground, ignore them and walk away. Apparently, there is alot of pickpocketing and scamming there. I was never raised to ignore those needing help and this happened to us, my friend was literally dragging us away from the person in need. It went beyond my southern belle and nursing background not to help someone hurting. Other than that incident we had a great time! Oh, and don't forget to check out Oak Alley Plantation (that is if it is still there from Hurrican Katrina) or any of the other plantation homes there, they are GORGEOUS! And have lots of picturesque picture taking opportunities. And try the Beignets (sp?), they are to die for. HTH.

Haha! You would never make it in NYC! I grew up with the "don't make eye-contact, keep walking straight ahead" attitude!

Omg I grew up in a large city in Connecticut but it was the same there about not making eye contact. I lived in southern Ohio on the Ky and WV border for a number of years and the difference was mind blowing you'd be walking down the street and total strangers would greet you " Good Morning" etc so friendly in the south compared to the north. Always ready to lend a helping hand in the south.

Yep, that's us. I was always raised to wave at those you pass, say good morning, hello, good afternoon, yes ma'am, no ma'am, yes sir, no sir, etc. Help those in need, etc. My grandparents are shining down on me from heaven being proud of how they raised a good southern belle girl.

:welcome: to all the newbies to the thread. Pull up a chair and make yourself at home. Everyone here is great! I have come to call them all friends.

The list is up to date as of now. Please check your information to make sure it is correct. If it is not, please let me know. I prefer Private Message, but understand there are some fairly new newbies that are not able to PM just yet. So just leave a message on the board, if I see it, I will change it, if I don't, repost it again. I am either having a blond moment, a senior moment, or a mommy moment if I don't change it correctly, pick your excuse for me. lol. Love you all!

Maybe I am crazy but I just checked the 1st list on page one for October and I do not see your name, judgeing by your ticker you should be arriveing the same day as we are so I was looking to see where you are staying but I do not see you on there?

Ok I see you now Oct 14-22

Sweet mother of pearl! I am SO glad that I bought our plane tickets on Continental back in April. I checked the website this morning to see where fares have gone, hoping they haven't gone down since I booked. Round trip for the five of us, our same flights, has skyrocketed to $6,347.00 from the $1027.00 that I paid! That's just plain crazy.

I know! I can't believe anyone would pay that much. The best part is that when you put the dates and flights in and get the price, it says that you can upgrade to 1st class for $3000 more. Sheesh.

It's not just the north. :) I grew up in Southern Indiana (Evansville) and everyone is super friendly there. You could be driving down the road and strangers would wave. Then when I moved out to Arizona I was shocked at how few people did that, said "good morning", "how are you", etc to strangers they saw on the street/in a store/etc. I won't even go into the people that don't wave thanks here when you let them out into traffic. Even still, I've been to far worse cities as far as general friendliness than here.

Just checked to see if my flights have gone up. They more than doubled in cost. So glad I bought them a month ago! :goodvibes

The bolded part is how certain parts of California is. When you do wave a thanks, people think you're flipping them off and get heated. lol
