I think someone else already answered, but
MNSSHP is Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. I know, you need a legend for all the acronyms around here.

It is a special event you must purchase an additional ticket for. Your regular park ticket won't work for this. They usually hold it on Tuesday, thursday, Friday and Sunday nights at the MK. The MK will close at 7pm to regular guests on the night of the party. If you do purchase a ticket, you can arrive as early as 4pm (just using that ticket only, you don't need a park ticket). The party runs until midnight. Usually the crowds aren't too bad, since they limit how many tickets they sell, but some parties do sell out and can be somewhat crowded. There are trick or treating stations setup, a special Halloween parade, special fireworks, special shows, characters dressed in special costumes. Cost is usually $54 or more, depending on what date you go (some dates are 'premium', a few extra bucks). We haven't been yet, but hear it is a blast. We've done the
MVMCP- Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party about 3x now and it is similar, but with a Christmas theme obviously in December. The official dates haven't been released just yet, but i think you can start buying tickets usually in May for both parties (Halloween and Christmas). here is more info.

Have they announced any "Special" Happening at MK for the 40th Anniversary on Oct 1 yet?
I changed my dates but before I was looking forward to being there too.
i haven't seen anything yet, good question. I am going to keep my eyes peeled for something- i'd just like to know what they are doing even though i won't be there.
So...you veteran Disney go-ers.... What goes on in October at Disney?? I have heard about MMNSSHP thing...but dont know when that is?? They don't do that every night do they??? I want to see the reg fireworks at MK!!!!
Also, have heard some stuff about F&W?? Is that over though the first week? We get there on the 5th of Oct.
I can't wait!!! Im becoming SLIGHTLY obsessed with this Board and Disney sites!!!!!
as mentioned, the MNSSHP and Food & Wine are the two big events. The MK is decked out in fall/halloween colors and on select nights, the MNSSHP is held. The Food & Wine festival at Epcot is an annual event, it debuted in 95, i think. It takes place in the world showcase mostly, where they set up more than 20 'temporary' booths where you can get a sampling of international cuisine and drink. There are also special tasting events and seminars you can sign up to attend, often at an additional charge to your park ticket. The F&W Festival tends to make Epcot busier on the weekends (many locals like to come in for it)- and especially busy on weekend evenings. A lot of people like to partake in the 'drink' part, so you might notice some more rowdy guests on weekend nights. While i like to 'partake' myself, we will have our 3yo with us, so we plan to stay far away from World Showcase/Epcot on the weekend nights and hit the festival on the weekdays at lunch instead when crowds aren't so bad. there are even 'eat to the beat' concerts too, you can check out the schedule of who is performing. check out more here:

In October, they also have the wine and dine half marathon/races Sept 30-Oct 1.
