OFFICIAL October 2009 thread - LET US KNOW YOUR PTR LINK!

We ate at Tony's in November and I thought it was good. Not great, but I would go back. It is worth dining there once for sure!

All your other ADRs look great, I hope you get them!

Your ADR wish list looks great as well. Have you had breakfast at Tusker House in AK? We ate there in November and we loved it! A HUGE selection and very good. We also like Crystal Palace for breakfast. Their biscuits are so good!

Tusker House I forgot that one. I have it on my "list" as well for breakfast! Plus my daughter wants to see Daisy this time!

I'm getting anxious about ADRs now, big time. I've changed them around on paper, and still I'm not 100%
We are arriving on Fri. 10/02, and should be checked in by about 3:30, and we thought we'd try to get an early dinner at Chef Mickey's, and then hit MK for a bit. Then I realized that it's a MNSSHP night, and it may be a bad idea, and will close early for us. Also, no telling if we can get CMickey's the first night.
It will be Me, Dh, our DD(28), her DH(28), Their DS(BDay trip(8)!)and my DGD(2 3/4). So, party of six for most meals. DDP.
So far, I've got this;
10/02 50's Prime Time D
10/03 Chef Mickey's D
10/04 DGS BDay T Rex D
10/05 Akershus B / Olivia's D (DD and DH- Big River @ BW)
10/06 'Ohanas D
10/07 Whispering Canyon Cafe D
10/08 Coral Reef D
10/09 ? Just DH and I- Le Cellier/Rose & Crown/San Angel?

I can't use the new online syst. 'cause we're using DVC points this trip, so I'll be on the phone at 4am July 4th, my time:scared1:, and then be at work at 8.
Hey, but that means I'm that much closer to October! :cool1:

Good luck getting your ADRs! Where are you staying? We thought about renting points this time and didn't do it. I wish we would have now...

I would try to get LeCellier for your dinner with your DH. I think it is romantic there.

My DD owns through a couple non Disney Time shares, and got great deals for us (I guess we're renting the points thru RCI) all I know is DH and I now have a one bdrm at OKW, with a king :thumbsup2 for less than we were going to pay for a moderate, well, less than any value, too. Although I now have to pay for the dining plan. Oh well. My DD couldn't get the same resort for them, and will be at SSR. So it will be our first time at any DVC resort.
I'm excited, but wish we were at the same resort.

We rented someone's DVC points so we are staying in the Animal Kingdom Jambo House about 200 less than staying at value. Granted we have to buy our tickets and dining plan out of pocket. I would never spend the price for AKV so I am thankful that I was lucky enough to rent some points!

That's how I feel too. I don't think I would ever be able to swing DVC myself, but my DD includes us on many of her good "deals". We were planning the trip anyways, and when DD found out Disney was an option that she could do, she checked it out. We almost stayed at AKV, but everytime she called, something diferent was available, she ended up grabbing what was available at the time.
I never knew you could just rent points from people, but that can be a real great deal.:thumbsup2

I didn't know you could rent points from Time Share places. Can you PM me the info? We are already buying the dining since it is not offered when we are going...

i'm new to the disboards and just ran into this thread! I'm going from October 16-24 staying at POP. Doing MNSSHP on the 20th!! This is only my second trip to WDW and it my DD's (8) first trip!!!!! She's been to Disneyland (cali) several times, but she is super excited about this first trip!!!! :woohoo:

Good mornin, ya'll! I think I'm driving my family nuts. Every five minutes I say "Eek! We're going to Disney World!!!" It's to the point that even the kids are like "Calm down Mom". :lmao: It's been several years since I've been to DW and I can't wait for this trip in October! We still can't hit on the right costume idea. I live in Georgia, so I'm realistic about the heat. I guess it'll be one of those I'll-know-it-when-it-come-to-me moments.

Hey luckymom! I'm in GA too. I'm excited about our upcoming trip too. Been brushing up on all things Disney here on the boards til the wee hours of the morning too many days in a row lately:surfweb:

We're going to WDW 10/2-8 and will probably do MNSSHP - still juggling finances to see how many extras we can do. We have done MNSSHP for several years in the past and yes, factor in the heat! But, also factor in bulkiness of costume - how easy will it be to negotiate rides while in costume? Are there a lot of accessories? Will the accessories be a hindrance to riders or a danger to other park goers (kids with toy swords come to mind)? How much makeup will I need apply? How much stuff will I have to schlep around the park or stow in a locker for my costume? I've seen awesome costumes while in the parks but many I would not want to have to wear!

IMHO the best costume is one that is basically street clothes with minimal make up or accessories but still very clever/funny. I think the best ones DH & I had one year were our Mr & Mrs Potatohead costume. I made potato shaped "sandwich board" tunics for DH and I, sewed a pocket on the butt for parts, cut out parts from felt and attached them to us with velcro. It was light weight, not bulky and you could still tell who we were. Buzz Lightyear gave us two thumbs waaaay up! ;) You could search "couple costume ideas" and maybe become inspired from other ideas or see something you could make or modify for park wear. Good luck!

When are you going and where are you in GA?

I'm in Fargo, it's a liiiitle bitty town just over the line from FL. I remarried in May and DH and I decided instead of taking a honeymoon, we'd do a family vacation to Disney World. (He's really the best, all the kids are mine and DW instead of a honeymoon was his idea.) The Mr. & Ms. Potato Head costume ideas are great! We have tried to think of something that the five of us could do together, but we always end up with an odd man out. So we figured we'd do something together and let the kids pick their costumes. Whatever we go with is going to be lightweight, no mask, no stiff parts on the costume, and minimal makeup. They'll sweat and wipe it all off, been there done that! We will drive down on the night of the 29th and stay at his sister's house. Then we'll check into ASMusic the morning of the 30th. We have a two day base and are trying to decide on Epcot vs. Hollywood Studios as our second park. I'm also trying to decide on extras, I really want to do at least one meal at Chef Mickeys! I really had no idea until about a month ago what a huge deal planning a DW trip is. There are so many cool things to do. The kids who are going are DS12, DD9, and DS5, so we are trying to plan things that everyone will like. And I'm rambling, lol. The excitement has given me a brain fart.

Hi luckymom4 and khakismum, I’m in Georgia too! We’re also struggling with costume ideas because of the cool and comfortable factors. I think I will have to do some goodle searching to find something. I’d love to do something Disney-themed, but also don’t want to look like everyone else there.

Khakismum – I’ll be there the 3-7 so we’ll overlap, likely if you decide to do a party we’ll be at the same one! Great ideas for costumes.

Luckymom4 – I would definitely do EPCOT, but that’s just my two cents, lol.

I'm joining you guys in the october dance! 8th to 12th, tentatively. haven't placed the reservations yet but soon. Going to be a repeat of my friend John, my boyfriend Pete and I and maybe another. We'll stay at a moderate, but not sure where yet. Decisions to be made!

Ok, does anyone have any "magical" ideas for their kids while they're there? Something special you're going to do that isn't park related? For instance, I read where one mom bought little disney stuff (pens, stickers, books) and would go back to the room and set them out and sprinkle them with pixie dust and tell the kids they were from Tink. I love this idea! I'm not the most creative person though, so does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking whatever I do is going to be Disney Halloween-ish since we'll be there for MNSSHP.

just joining this thread!! My cousin Kara and I wanted to go to WDW for my birthday (i've never been on my birthday!) than I recieved a 40% code!! Booked it even faster, so we are going Oct. 4th-9th and going to MNSSHP on the 6th (my birthday is the 7th) I've been making some t-shirt designs for my birthday so I'll share them here in case anyone sees me!

Are we there yet???

I'm really starting think that October hours won't be posted in time for my July 4th ADR date. Guess I will pick which restaurants I want and that will be the park we have to go to, LOL. Not being able to plan ahead is killing me!
