OFFICIAL NOVEMBER 2017 THREAD

I've got our DVC reservation at PVB and bought the plane tickets last night for our November 29 - December 3 trip. I am so excited about this one I can't even stand it. I have been DYING to see Disney at Christmas and do MVMCP and the Candlelight Processional, and NOW WE ARE!!! :mickeyjum I'd love to stay longer than just 4 days, but unfortunately my son's future middle school has stricter rules about that kind of thing than does his current elementary school. And for some reason they do NOT consider this to be an educational experience. The nerve... :darth:

It has a new name. No longer Soarin' over California. It's something else. It premiered at Shanghai when it opened and then replaced the old show at WDW, also!

Ha! Neat. To be honest, I told myself we would skip it this year because I've done it before a few times, but now I'm going to have to add it back to the list!

Got our trip booked for the 17th through the 25th. We've never been around Thanksgiving and Christmas and are so excited! Hoping to catch MVMCP on the Friday before Thanksgiving week.

We will be back this year from November 9 through the 17th. We are staying at POR again this year because we loved it so much last year!:) I have been meaning to join in on this thread earlier, but my kids have been trying to figure out what to change my screen name from last year to because CandiceF was not original enough, LOL. We went last year in November and loved the weather!! We are so excited to go back!:teeth:

I'm so excited that I finally get to join an official planning group. My family (DH and DS8) loosely planned on going in November 2016 after our last trip in November 2014 but then we decided to go and have a baby:) We will now be going back for a huge family trip, probaby November 4-11th. My mom is retiring and my dad has stage 4 cancer so they have requested a family trip. It will be DH, DS8, DS1, my parents, my sister and her BF, my brother, sister-in-law and their kids (6 & 2) and myself. My brother has not been in 17 years and his wife and kids have never been. I can't wait to take them. The initial plan is All Star Sports and lots of character meals.

We went to Sam's Club today. They're selling Disney gift cards $500 for $480. Not a huge discount but also not a huge hassle to save a few hundred dollars!

Booked Nov. 13-17 @ The Beach Club, this will be our third November trip but first time staying at BC

We'll be saying at the BC for the first time as well Nov 18-26 :goodvibes
We love our November trips beautiful decorations and usually great weather.

Yes this past November Thanksgiving week weather was perfect!

New to me this trip:
New opening show/getting on Main Street early. Looking forward to it!
ROL. So far, not a "must do" for me, I'll wait and see.
Avatar land. Must do. LOL.
New fireworks.
Dinosaur. Only been to WDW twice and the first time with little kids, so we didn't go, then last September it closed for refurb.
POP. We have not stayed there before. Also looking forward to crossing the bridge and checking out AoA.

Hi all!

We're planning a trip for Nov 18 - 25, probably at Poly. There are 5 of us - me, dh, and kids who will be 13, 9, and 9. I think if we drive we'll do Poly, if we fly we'll do POR. We've only stayed at the Poly, and we LOVE it, so I'm hoping for that. But the cost of plane tickets for 5 is no joke, so I'm thinking if we don't want to downgrade resorts, we'll have to drive (about 12 hours).

A couple of y'all have mentioned watching for free dining, but they wouldn't offer that on a holiday week, right?

Also, regarding the Christmas Parties, is there an extra charge for that even if we already have a ticket for the park? What does the party include? Is it mainly a parade?

We're waiting to book based on free dining. Last year checking in the Saturday before Thanksgiving would have gotten it! . If no free dining were probably going DVC.

We will be there Nov. 3 - 12. A group of 11. Four nights at POR and 5 at the Poly. We are super excited to stay at a deluxe resort for the first time!

You have to buy tickets to attend the Christmas party. There's a night time parade (they do it twice each night), Christmas wishes (I wonder if this will change now), rare character meet & greets, & the lines for rides are usually short. Wdwprepschool, Disney tourist blog & Kenny the pirate usually have good posts about the party.

We are thinking about going thanksgiving week. Fits into the kids school break.

Will the Christmas decorations be up?

How soon should we book?

Is there a possibility of free dining? I saw it mentioned here.

We are a family of 5 as well and know the struggle is real for both hotels and plane tickets! WE have stayed at POR and are booked in to Poly for Oct/Nov trip, but we will probably be driving from PA. I might have to switch things or increase the budget depending on oldest DS's football schedule. Or I'll have to fly him down separate. The struggle is real!

It's unlikely free dining will be offered on a holiday week, but if you can check in on the right day you may be able to swing it for your whole stay. They've been stingier with discounts lately though so I wouldn't bank on it.

The Christmas party is an extra ticketed event. And the cost adds up with 5, however we often use the morning as a "rest" day and then just go in to the park at 4 with our party ticket so we don't kill a regular ticket day on a party day. The Christmas party is a lot of fun in my opinion. I have been quite a few times. They do offer cookies and hot cooca. Last year they had warm apple cider as well. And there is a special parade with scented floats and a special Holiday Wishes. Also tons of characters in holiday attire and rarer characters out. In theory, there are also lower crowds and that means short waits for rides. We love it!

Christmas decor will defintely be up! Book at least prior to your 180 day mark when you can book dining.

My DM found out that she isn't going to be able to get off work during the time we were thinking of going, so guess we are moving up our trip and heading the end of July. We have gone in the summer before so we know how to deal with the heat, but was looking forward to the cool weather again that my DS and I had when we went this past December! Hope every one has fun!
