OFFICIAL NOVEMBER 2010 THREAD - Let the countdown begin!

Since it wasn't decided that we were going to go for sure til early July, I slept on getting reservations.

Managed to get the Crystal Palace at MK for all 8 of us. I will keep checking maybe I can change to something else since everyone keeps telling me to avoid MK on turkey day.

We went for Thanksgiving 07 and from my recollection, it didn't really get busy until the day after Thanksgiving, but then again, I'm crazy and have gone during spring break 6 times, and during July last year. So, I'm kinda used to it being a madhouse so anything less seems ok! Crystal Palace was one of the ones we were considering, but since we had never done Chef Mickey, I thought it would be perfect. There's also some concern on whether my DS18 will have a daily park pass or if it'll be hopper, so eating in a resort hotel gives us some flexibility. Myself, DH and DD8 have AP's. DS18 said he really didn't want to do the parks, just DisneyQuest. We're picking him up from his college (an hour away) mid week, so we're "making" him go. :lmao:

I'm afraid it was...the Monster PIN. It's the first time we've gotten one, and we're splurging with a few days at the Poly. Still a bit expensive IMHO, but it will be fun to try. My AAA agent actually found that we would save money by using free dining while at Pop (this saved us more than the 40%). At the delux, we came out ahead using the 40% (as opposed to FD). In other words, we have two separate reservations, using a different discount for each. Hope that makes sense! :) P.S. The ASM suites sound great! Have fun!:goodvibes

I figured it was a pin.

We actually stayed at the ASMu suites last year, since my Mom went with us and my DH and I need a queen size bed. It was great having the two bathrooms and the extra space. The furniture was kinda worn, so I'm really looking forward to the new suites they will be creating at the new value resort over by Pop Century.

Add me in! Had to change from September! Nov. 10-16th POFQ, Surprise 40th birthday/ 15th Anniversary trip for DH and I. Well, 40 for him, 41 for me. :rolleyes1 I see there is a lot going on at that time!

Hi everyone! We're staying November 14-19 at AKV. :) I am considering adding an extra night at Pop for the 13th but I am still undecided.

We added a night at the Pop to our November trip after our stay at Saratoga Springs. The Friday night was too many points at Saratoga.. so we decided to save our points and pay OOP for a night at Pop. Pop is fun. If you have kids... they'll enjoy it. :hippie:

Happy 15th anniversary. I would love to spend our anniversary at Disney World, but we got married in June, and I just can't see us going to Disney in June. Oh well.

Yeah, we're in the same boat. We got married June 29th, and our youngest's birthday is July 1st. She'd REALLY like to celebrate at Disney and so would we, but that is 4th of July week and really crowded. Also her ballet recital is always the last Saturday in June. Hopefully someday the dates will align to make it doable.

Didnt think we could pull off another trip this year but We Did :banana::banana: I just booked a Nov trip with free dining.
I am so happy my husband has never be able to get off work to see the Christmas Party or the lights up

Same goes for me.

Didn't think it would happen, but low and behold Disney sends out a code for adjusted arrival dates that qualify for Free dining.

So it's on like donkey kong.

We will be there from Nov. 18-24 and are counting down. All ADR's have been made. DW and I are celebrating our 20th Wedding Aniv.

We are taking our first trip 11-28 through 12-2!! staying at POP can't wait!! I'm so excited to finally be going!! We are 30 but just big kids at heart!!! :cool1:

awww i'm so excited! That's amazing that you guys have made it an annual trip. I think if I knew we would be going more often, I'd be a little less stressed about making sure we did it all.

We contemplated driving as well, but figured the first time we would fly and then next time (if there is a next time :D) we could take some time and drive it. I heard about a book....driving the I-75 or something like that, that talks about great places to stop along the way.

I haven't decided when exactly to tell the girls we are going. I am really debating packing secretly right up until the morning our flight leaves and waking them up in the morning to "get ready for school" and telling them then...I just don't know if I can hold it in though :cool1:

lol my DH isn't necessarily a "morning person" (even though he leaves for work at 5:30 every morning) and doesn't eat much at breakfast on a normal day, so I don't know how well some of our early breakfasts will go over, but we will see :D The trip isn't about us anyways so I'll likely tell him to suck it up!

We are going to be travelling with friends of ours and their almost 4 year old. We are each planning a date night (something DH and I NEVER do). I just booked Narcoossees for an 8:45 dinner for the two of us so we can eat and enjoy the fireworks one night.

I am soooo excited to try the Ohana's breakfast! Then I read their dinner menu and thought is it too much to have breakfast AND dinner there on the same trip?? lol with so many other places to eat, I thought I should spread it around. My friend really wanted to get into Chef Mickey's, but I'm not having any luck. I'll keep trying though...someone is bound to cancel!

Gotta get headed off to work, but it is great to be able to "meet" someone who will be there when we will. Oh and where are you staying?
One thing you need to know for a first trip is that you will not see and do everything! There are still a lot of things we have not done, and our last trip was a 10 night trip! Don't stress about seeing and doing it all. Pick your must-do's and try to get those done and enjoy it! Thankfully you're going at a slower time, so you should be able to get a lot done w/ lesser wait times!!!:woohoo:

We did 'Ohana dinner last year. We were very disappointed with it, so probably won't go back for a little while. But it's also many's fav meal! I will say that the view was amazing, and it is a fun place to eat at. But we had the worst server possible I think which really made it not so fun!

And we're staying at Pop too!
Thank you so much for posting!

Welcome to the Dis! And congrats on your first trip! My DH is 31 and I'll be 28 in a couple days, we'd LOVE to do a trip without kids! You'll have a blast!

Today we just added a very short trip for November!! I found out that our school added 3 furlough days right before Thanksgiving so DD5 won't miss any school and we get to see the Christmas lights! We have the points, already got Annual Passes and are only in WDW for 3 nights, so it's not a budget breaker -- but a great little getaway!!

We are at SSR Nov 21 - 24. We'll drive down 2 days prior and take the Autotrain back!

Hey neighbor!! Would you by any chance be in Loudoun? We're going down for Thanksgiving week because of the 2 furlough days too. We're staying the 21st through the 26th at Saratoga, then staying one night at the Pop, and leaving some time on the 27th! See you there!!!:woohoo:

Taking our son down to Disney for his 10th Birthday Nov 3 he doesn't have a clue now the question is just how long we can keep it a secret...Going to be staying at POP doing MNSSHP as well as the Wine and Food YUMMM:cool1:

Hey, Mindy!! Yes, I think we know each other:wave2: I'm a member of Sarah's Mom's group and think we've seen each other at the Halloween parties (I usually stay to help clean up afterwards). I didn't know you were on DIS, too! Cool!:thumbsup2

I was hoping to stay longer but there was no availability for a 1BR anywhere for the nights of 24-26 when I called today. I may actually keep trying over the next few weeks, in case someone cancels. We can always get a refund on the AT and then just drive back.

Can anyone point me to where all the November ressies (names and dates) are located? I've seen it on the first page for other months, but missed it here. I'd love to see who else will be down during our stay!

UPDATE: Nevermind, I found it under Disney Resorts!:goodvibes

Marsha Y I do remember meeting you on the DIS. I know we've talked before. But the mom's group... ?? I haven't been in a mom's group in years. I haven't been to any Halloween parties except in my neighborhood. Hm? :confused3

We're staying in a 2 bedroom. The points for Friday night that weekend are pretty high, so that's why we're doing that one night at the Pop. We booked 2 rooms for that. I wanted to have enough points left to be able to do at least one more trip on the use year. With my son going to college just an hour away from WDW, we will be down there at least to drive him down and bring him back home. Didn't check on the auto-train. Last time I checked, it was a bit pricey.

Ooops! Too funny!! I thought you were another Mindy in Ashburn that I know a little bit, but she has young kids like mine!:flower3::flower3:Sorry!

You can get some deals on the Autotrain, esp if you just do coach, a roomette or book 11 months in advance.

For November, I just hit it lucky ... the family bedroom was less than half price for one day only and it was the day I needed.

We like it b/c having two small children the AT allows us to walk around, watch a movie, dine in the dining car, etc. My girls are way too antsy to just sit in our SUV for 14 hours!
