Official Miami Port Information Thread-5/1 update

I am from Miami. This seems like a great deal. I'm going to look into it myself for our upcoming Disney cruise. Your husband will need to take the shuttle though. 2-3 blocks in that area is over a mile long. And there's no sidewalk on the bridge to get to the port.

Cool. Thanks!!! I think we will do this if we drive up AM of the cruise (and we are from Tampa, so that's a good 4-5 hrs.....). It's that, or book a hotel that includes parking..... Decisions!!!

If you use them, please report back :)

Hi! This parking deal sounds great. Do they have a shuttle that picks up from the port after disembarkation and takes you back to your car?

Thanks!

You are right, it is long. I think they are counting the '2-3 blocks' to the BRIDGE, not to the actual terminal of the port. There is a sidewalk over the bridge, however. It is on the same side as the basketball Arena. I saw many people, with suitcases, walking over it when we sailed Dec. 23 and returned Dec 30. I'd guess it was a mile, maybe even more.

the shuttles are a disorganized mess (IMHO). Just take a taxi. It was $9 to go from the port to this lot (across the bridge, up a few blocks and then around and back down a block because of the one way streets).

Since DCL does not have a permanent terminal,I imagine this changes. So can you park at a garage but walk or take a shuttle to your terminal if different? Today, wonder is at terminal E, which only has a lot and no garage. TIA.

are stayingt Holiday Inn the night before at the port. I hoped someone was familiar with the port area and could answer me- it looks like Bayside MArketplace area is right there, we could walk to it from hotel? Wondered if there was a place we could pick up beer and rum? I am not sure how/where they sell it in Miami(here we cant buy beer or alcolor at regular store, just specific liquor stores.)
Also, how close to the port area are the port hotels? I assume we would still need a cab over?

Ok... So the wonder is docked at terminal F. But we can park in the garage by terminal G.

When you drive in, you can stop by the terminal and drop off your luggage. Then continue towards terminal G, drive around the garage and enter. Then I would park towards terminal F...

It was nice and easy.

I read in another thread that Miami is not like Port Canaveral where in they charge you only by the night. So if it is a 5 night cruise you would only be charged for 5 days(5 x 20). Can anyone confirm this?

We just came back from the Feb 21 Feb 25-Wonder Cruise... 4 nights.. and we were charged $80. It was really easy... I was dreading the Miami Port, but this was a breeze... ery easy, parked close to the boats:goodvibes

We are cruising on the Magic Nov 24-29. It looks like we will have to fly into MIA arriving at 11:03am and fly out of FLL departing at 11:30am. Are these times doable? We've never cruise out of POM so this is new for us. TIA for your answers!

We cruised this last February. We drove in, but did pass the airport... It wasnt far at all, My only thing is if your plane gets delayed for any reason... Can you come in the day before? As for leaving the boat, we had the late breakfast, and got off the boat before 9, I think it's totally doable...:cool1: Enjoy!

I am thinking about www.portofmiamicruiseparking.com It says that it is $4.50/day. They are 2-3 blocks from the port. They recommend a shuttle for $5 each way. I would think DH could drop off myself, DD & the luggage, go park & then just walk over (or shuttle). I think this is a great way to go.

Any specific taxi company? Or are there taxis already waiting at this place? Sounds like a taxi would be best.

Thanks for info, all! But YIKES there are so many threads for Miami port info, hotels restaurants shuttles taxis transfers etc. Is anyone up to organizing the info and making it into one super helpful thread??:cheer2:

Anyone know what time the transfer buses start leaving MIA to head to the port? I guess it is later them MCO since the trip is shorter between airport and cruise terminal.

Any suggestions for hotels for the night before the cruise? I'm thinking of staying at Hampton Inn & Suites, Miami Airport South/ Blue Lagoon.

I've been reading through this thread for the last month and am still baffled. We sail 11/29, just changed our flight in so that we are not flying on Thanksgiving Day but instead will enjoy Wednesday at HS and Thursday at MK, we will head to Miami late that afternoon/early evening. My plan is to rent a car, and I think we will stay either on property or at a DTD hotel.

Staying at the Embassy Suites in Miami (gotta love their breakfast-especially for a family of five) Thursday night, but this is where I get stumped. I'm open for suggestions.

Should we turn in our rental and take a taxi to the Port or park it at the port the whole time.

We fly out of FLL so another ? if we turn in the rental do we take a taxi to FLL (around $80) from what I can see on the fare finder, or do we do another one way rental (probably least expensive option, but most hassle) or just hire a car service (probably similar in cost to the taxi).

Thoughts? Has anyone else stayed at the Embassy Suites? What do you think? Suggestions?

TIA

Some of the rental car companies have free shuttles to the port from MIA. We use Alamo for this reason. We also use SAS transportation to return to FLL, $15 a person.

We are renting a car in MCO and staying at WDW for 4 nights. Morning of the cruise we are driving down and I will return the car to Budget in MIA and take their shuttle to the port (I heard there was a shuttle but will call to confirm).

On the return we are flying out PBI as we are visiting family in Delray Beach and our flight is not until 5:00 pm. I reserved another Budget one day rental which we will pick up at MIA and drop off at PBI.

I toyed with keeping the rental at the port the whole time but it is a $100 less if I do 2 one-ways instead of leaving the car at the port., There was a mention of an off site parking place for only $4.50 per day if you didn't want to park for $20 per day at the port.
