***Official May 2023 Thread***

So excited for our upcoming trip!! We’ll be staying at the Poly from May 8 - May 13 to celebrate my son’s 6th birthday! We’re staying club level to make this trip even more memorable, and we have lots of fun things planned for him - BBB for a knight makeover, capture your moment photos on his bday, flower/balloon delivery, character meals.

Does anyone know if room requests are now being honored at all through Touring Plans? On my last 2 trips last May and December 2021, I made requests and I couldn't have been any further away from what I requested. I just wondering if anyone has had any luck recently getting what they want. Nine out of 10 times, I've always received either exactly what I requested or at least in the area I wanted.

May and July of that year I got pretty much exactly what I asked for except for when I got pixie dusted into the main building at GF. RPC was not yet reopened at the time, I had outer building TPV booked and requested Conch through Touring Plans. Funny enough they put me in a deluxe king room, which was what my partner and I had originally booked before we had to cancel and I changed the booking.

You had an exceptionally good run of luck, tbh. Requests are just requests unfortunately, even before the covid closures I didn't always get what I asked for. Got the total opposite at BC in 2019 actually. But also keep in mind that resorts were still not running to full capacity back in 2021. I think your chances are probably better now if the bookings are looking as soft as the aggressive discounts imply. They do try to honor requests from everything I've seen but the more people are making them the more someone has to lose out.

Yeah, most of it was the same room (5001) at Crest of the Wave @ BWV. Stayed in that room several times and when I couldn't get the high floor, I got one of the lower rooms (2001). Yes, I've been extremely fortunate getting what I want at BWV but probably because no one wants that long walk from the lobby, 🚶‍♀️and the fact that there aren't that many Boardwalk view rooms to choose from in the first place. I love that area and the fact that there's an exit door that you will take you out to the area between Jelly Rolls and Atlantic Dance right onto the boardwalk.

I’m a little surprised that park hours have not been extended for any dates past May 12 at this point. I guess it’s possible there’s still a chance that will change. Maybe? I was really hoping HS would get that extra half hour at night and the second Fantasmic showing.

Overall I know crowd levels are lower at this time of year so I shouldn’t be that surprised. But still wishing!

I know! I keep checking it too.

If the moderate crowds we're seeing now hold through May, I doubt they will extend hours. I was also hoping for 2 Fantasmic! showings so we could go to the 2nd one and ride more rides during the 1st one. Oh well. At least they don't reduce hours like Universal did. Park hours at IOA reduced from 9pm to 8pm both days we'll be there, and the other park was already closing at 7pm.

Hello all!

I’d like to ask for some help, please! For anyone staying at a Disney Resort during the month of May, can you please take a picture of the May Resort Recreation Calendar for the Official Monthly Calendar Thread? I’ll be updating Page 1 of that thread as they come in. I’d truly appreciate it, as well as the other Diser’s who have trips this month! Hope you all have a great trip!

Thank you!

We are doing a trip with just me and my husband the same week. Have a fantastic trip!

We still have 30 to go...Touring Plans sent our automatic room request for our Yacht Club reservation, hoping we will get a king looking at the boat dock (we are in garden/woods view). Though I would just be happy for being relatively close to elevators, I hate the endless hallways in BC/YC.

Will be making final payment today on my lunch hour though. Then will need to book Tiffany for our transportation. I intentionally left that for late even though our flights have been booked for months just because I wanted something to do. :rotfl2:

We're exactly 2 weeks out today! The days are CRAWLING at this point.

This is the first time since we've had kids that we're doing a WDW trip *without* extended family. Usually there's so much hubbub in the weeks leading up to the trip, it's a little surreal that things are so quiet and so normal right now. It kind of feels like it's not actually happening :confused3

Same for us, I'm astounded at how much easier planning for just us is! When we go with in-law's, I feel like I have to be hyper prepared to counteract, um, well, just the way they are. This time I feel like we can just be chill and I'm sure we'll get to most everything we want to get in. (It does help that we went Thanksgiving 2021, so I know how things work, I know what we can skip this time if needed, etc.)

Exactly! Luckily the family we travel with are easy travel companions, but even still, the planning is SO much more complicated when the group is larger (having to make two separate ADR's for one meal is a beast, for instance). And as the planner, I usually wind up feeling some sense of responsibility for everyone's good time (even though I know that's largely self-inflicted). It's nice to have just nuclear family, no pressure.

I do think you're right, too, that it helps not being the first go-round with Genie+ and park reservations, etc. That had me SO stressed last time, but it's one less thing I have to figure out this time. Plus we were there in 2022 and have a December 2023 trip booked, so that urgent "HAVE TO DO IT ALL RIGHT NOW" feeling is much less intense.

I'm chill. I'm totally chill. :rolleyes1
