****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

Question of the Day:

In Epcot, what are some “smell the roses” attractions that are easy to miss?

I love all the out-of-the-way places to take a little break, the shops in Germany, Morocco and France and being able to take the Friendship boats when my feet need a break. So many people don't think about using the boats!

Going on my first solo trip in nine days to celebrate my retirement from the United States Navy!
Booked POFQ and POR (Royal Guest Room...whoohoo. I have boys so they would have zero interest to stay here) so I can enjoy the beautiful grounds and proximity to DTD.
Can't wait!

Congrats! I hope you have a fantastic trip. Thank you for serving our country. :goodvibes

Did everyone see that the Tree of Life is now closed? I wish we could reschedule... that's 3 major attractions down... what a great first visit for my MIL
Phooey! I hope it is fixed quickly! :headache:

Super excited to go :thumbsup2 Wish my DH, "Grumpy", was as into it, but he never "got" the whole WDW thing. No worries though, he'll have a good time if he knows what's good for him:rolleyes: Me? Heck Im just happy to get back "home"::MickeyMo

We went on Living with the Land for the first time our last trip, and we actually really liked it! It was pretty neat getting to see all the plants and how they grow. We even got to see them starting to grow some pumpkins with the Mickey Head molds around them. :goodvibes

Living with the Land! it's just soo neat to see :)

I may be the only one but I really enjoyed Ellen's Energy Adventure. It was a great way to relax and take a break plus pretty cool how the seats move. I can't wait to go on it again!

Love this show as well!

Hum bummer about the Tree of Life - hopefully it will be back up and running in no time - or at least plans put into place for an alternative entrance.. I was thinking my DH would love this show - it's his first trip, but ya know I am sure the trip will be great and it would give me an excuse to plan another trip LOL...

Our "stop and smell the roses" things would be Living with the Land, the Tomorrland Transit Authority/Peoplemover, and, even though it's not an attraction, the seating area at Flame Tree BBQ.

Even my (almost) three-year-old loves Living with the Land! It's quiet and relaxing. And she loves looking for "hitten Mickeys".

TTA is one of my favorite rides! I get to see the sights and relax.

Finally, there is a pavillion that is way down by the water for Flame Tree BBQ that is almost alwasy deserted when we go. The first time we found it, it was during free dining one year and we couldn't find any seats so we just kept following the path. I thought we were getting lost, but then we found our perfect spot. You can look out over the water and just feel like you are not in a theme park. Even if it's not busy, we still walk all the way down there to eat.

Doing the happy dance here!! We finally officially booked our Disney World package!! Woo hoo!! Not in single digits yet- but so happy its less than a month away! :cool1:  :dance3: :woohoo: :yay:

I didn't go on this last time I went (about 10 years ago) not sure if it was around then but I read about this ride in my guidebook and I can't wait to see it! I love Ellen and I'm excited to experience the "moving seats". popcorn::

Oh my gosh, that's so funny! 1993 was a good year :goodvibes And what better way to celebrate than a Disney trip?

We're seriously thinking of a cruise on the Dream for our 20th - you should join us :thumbsup2

Maybe!!! lol.

Was just thinking the same thing budafam. I try not to complain and I am one heck of a make lemonade out of lemons person.. but this is getting irritating.
I realize it can't be helped and I will deal with it, but PHOOEY. There.. I almost feel better.
This is a first trip for MIL and FIL coming with us too. Did I mention FIL worked at GM his entire life and I was so excited to show him test track?

Like I said, there's no way we won't have fun but right now I am a little whiny about it.

Hmm, that's sad :( Thanks for posting about it or I would not have known.

not that familiar with AK but you guys mentioned Tree of Life being closed...does that mean no 'It's tough to be a bug'?

The test track 'renewal' *ha* doesn't really bother me but I'm really sad about BTMR being closed.
Mum and I aren't big into the rides so missing out on one of the 3D shows is a shame :(

I wish I could spend all night on here, but instead I am doing wedding programs.... :surfweb: Can someone remind me why we have big weddings? :confused3 Haha I should have just gotten married in Disney!

Got our mickey mail today!!!:cool1::cool1: Now I just have to survive 5 more weeks of 5th graders, with state testing, and final exams...then I'm pushing them on a bus and heading to Disney......come on end of May!!

Tomorrow is our 1 month mark, so excited! Some of you are much closer, I am jealous, enjoy, I am right behind ya!
:goodvibes

9 Days until we leave for Disney!! My DD7 still has no idea what day we leave. All I told her was we were going in May!! She is going to be soooo happy. Not going to say anything until I wake her up to leave for the airport.

Of course I am a HUGE procrastinator. I haven't packed a thing. I most of her clothes picked out though. And tomorrow I will finalize our list of what to pack and start gathering everything up!

So much to do between now and then but it is so hard to stay focused. I keep browsing these boards and redoing our itinerary. LOL!! I did manage to read a book to try to keep me occupied. But I've finished the book and now I am back to EXCITED!

Don't feel bad. We leave Friday and I'm still not done packing:rolleyes1

In fairness I am mostly done. The things that aren't packed can't really be packed yet. I still have all of our hotel reservations (3) and car rental info and dining reservation numbers to print out. I still have exchange money. I still have to finish cleaning the house and give the key to my sister for the cats.

Ack. There's a lot left to do and full work days up until we leave.
However I am excited as can be! When I wake up (going to sleep right now) there will only be 3 sleeps left:cool1:

I love planning, but I think I may do better on some things when I procrastinate. Suitcase is out and has been for a few weeks now, but I can guarantee the final packing won't be done until the night before/morning of (not including last minute items). Just like I want to have our countdown calendar ready to go for Wednesday, have had 9 months to work on it (or more) and am just cracking on it starting tonight:surfweb:hoping the creative juices flow under pressure. (pressure for making a countdown calendar :rotfl:) Maybe it's making sure I'm stretching out every "vacation moment" I possibly can :)
Good luck with your packing endeavors and have fun leaving soon!!!:goodvibes

Just did online check-in :cool1:

We only decided on this trip a couple of months ago, and I thought it would be here before I knew it - but now each day seems to be dragging by....just can't wait to be on that plane :goodvibes

To everyone leaving this weekend - have magical trips! :wizard:
