****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

6 days:) I think I am all set to go. Everything is packed except the last minute toiletries. This time next week I will be at Magic Kingdom. I hope this is a fast work week. LOL

Did I mention it's supposed to SNOW here tomorrow? Yep. SNOW. About 2 inches. We were in shorts last week:headache:
Hopefully it doesn't last long. Boy am I ever going to enjoy Florida weather after this week!!

Hello all! I am spending hours today making bows and seating chart! I am going to pack this week. We are looking at 3 days of rain here too! Please send prayers of no rain for May 5th!

DH and I are celebrating our 19th anniversary on May 1st. Our wedding day was gorgeous, blue skies, 70 degrees - just beautiful. And we've noticed that every year that weekend is perfect weather. So....you will have great weather, I'm sure :thumbsup2 And we're in Pittsburgh, so it can't be that different from Reading ;)

Also, not to get religious (or start any debates!), but we Catholics swear by putting a statue of Mary in your window a couple of days before your special day (and leave her there!) - don't know the reasoning behind it, but it always assures sunny skies.

Have a wonderful time :cool1:

That's our forecast as well - kids are hoping for a school delay :rotfl:

You aren't too far from us. We're near the border on the Canadian side. It's just weird isn't it?!
All of our flowers are blooming and the rain last week made all the trees blossom and everything is so green. I really hope this weather doesn't kill everything.

Isn't vacation going to be nice after this? I suppose I can't complain too much. We didn't have much of a winter compared to what it usually is like.

Alright, with all of the weather talk I thought I would updated everyone on Florida weather started Friday (cause that is when will will get there :rotfl:) and b\c there are a few others on here headed about the same time.

Sounds great!!!!
We get there Saturday morning!!

Here's a question. Are any of you bringing pants or a sweatshirt for the evenings just in case?
I was thinking maybe one pair of pants, one hooded sweater and a windbreaker for everyone. I doubt we'll need them much, if at all. I just don't want to have to buy a sweatshirt if it's really cold one evening.

Also, we leave early on Saturday morning and they are predicting it will still be pretty cool. I am putting everyone in shorts or capris since we are going straight to a park while we wait for our room, and we'll wear a sweatshirt to the airport and then stick it in the carry-on. Hopefully nobody gets too cold. I just don't want to walk around Universal in pants or jeans when we get there.

Very Exciting!!! (well not the rain part) And will do a "NO Rain" dance for the 5th :goodvibes

Arggh I know 3 days of rain -___-! Please no rain on 5/5 and 5/6!

Thank you all! I know no matter what the weather will be I will be happy. It is pouring here now, I can't believe the possible snow this week too!

Yay for everyone getting ready to go!!!

We finished DD's dance show yesterday (I'm totally wiped out) and we gearing up for my youngest DD's 3rd birthday party next Saturday. We invited 16 kids in her preschool class and 7 of them RSVP'd. That is about how many I figured, but I'm going to be prepared for a couple more just on case someone just shows up. We've booked the party for 15 kids and we are currently at 11, so I think we'll be fine.

After that, we just have DD's spring recital and then it's WDW time!!

I hope you guys have a wonderful party!!
We had one for my ds's 8th birthday last month. We also invited 16 kids and 15 came. Only one person didn't show up or call.
It's a real pet peeve of mine when so many people don't respond. It's hard to plan food and loot bags etc when you have no idea how many are coming.
In our case I can totally see that maybe one just forgot. It happens. But for 9 people to not pick up a phone? Grr.. well now I'm just getting on a tangent;)

Anyway.. you'll be so busy preparing for that party that the time until vacation will just fly by!!

You can do it!!! On Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays I get up for work at 5. In the afternoon I am free (work from home) so I always grab a nap for a bit. This week I am going to try really hard not to do that. That way I will be used to going to bed by 10 and falling straight to sleep and getting up at 6.
That's the plan anyway. But I suspect I will be just like you this week and overwhelmed and tired.
I hope you get some down time tonight!

My son is packed. One down, three to go. I think I'm going to go on a sock and underwear run to Walmart. I like to bring new stuff on vacation. Is it necessary? No. Do I want to do it anyway. Yes.

Well, now is my down time :) It feels good at last. lol.
We like to get new socks too - new socks just feel SOOOO good and what better time to have that awesome new sock feel than when your feet are getting such a workout?:confused3

Any of you May diser's want to to the single digit dance with me?:dancer::dancer::dance3::dance3::banana:

:confused3Ugh - just noticed my ticker's wrong today - should be 1 week and 5 days. Some days it's right, and sometimes it's off a day

It says 1 week 5 days now. I have found mine changes later in the day so your must too.
and I'm doing the single digit dance with you - been there for a bit now - only 4 days left!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:yay::banana::yay::banana::yay::banana::yay:

Congrats to everyone in the single digits! how exciting! I completed a mini-pre WDW goal yesterday by running (as in the whole time, not walking) a 5k adventure race. Might do one more next week if the hubby really wants to run! !

CONGRATS on your 5K!!! that's GREAT!!

Check out my ticker!!
ONE WEEK!!!

yay for 1 week!!! :thumbsup2

I will be praying for no rain on the 5tth too - don't want my EEC 5K at Animal Kingdom to be rained out either!!

AWESOME IDEA!!! Now I'll just have to tape my handy dandy F to C translator to the laptop so I know what it all means :rotfl2:

I am taking 1 pair of jeans b/c it goes with any tops so that will be my long pants if need be and I'm taking a thin yoga jacket and one very thin sweater. I need them b/c I find restaraunts are ALWAYS FREEZING!!! So that's probably where I'll get the most use out of them. :rotfl:

We leave on May 10th for our first family trip to Disney. We haven't yet told our 4-year old twins about the trip. The days are ticking away and we are trying to finalize the details of our trip plans AND I still haven't figured out how or when we are going to reveal the trip to our peeps.

This is Plan A:
We present the kids with an envelope and a box. Inside the envelope will be Mickey head "cards" with one word on each - we, are, going, and to. They are at a stage where they can figure out letter sounds and we will help them figure out each word. The cards won't be in order so they will need to figure out what the "sentence" is. Once they have the sentence figured out we will let them open the box. When they open the box, a Mickey and Friends helium balloon will float out. The box will be filled with trip related items - autograph books, maps, t-shirts, stuffed animals, etc.

We don't have a Plan B. Nor do we know if we will do this the Sunday before we leave and include a count-down chain or other way to count the remaining days or if we will do this the night before we leave. We also don't know if we will do this just the kids and DH or if we will include both sets of grandparents who will be joining us on this adventure.

I'd love to hear others' thoughts/suggestions!
