****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

I've been pushing DH for an October trip since my AP expires at the end of October and today his work notified him that he'll be traveling to Italy in October! Well, I'm either going with him or taking my kids to WDW again.. lol.. his choice! :lmao:

We leave in 30 days :cool1: and I am all packed, expect all my toiletries.

All your clothes even? I'll have to do laundry the night before we leave in order for me and DH and probably DD to have enough clean clothes to be able to bring/wear 7 outfits on the trip. We don't own a lot of clothes, I guess. :confused3 :laundy:

I'm like you... I can't pack more than a day or two in advance because I tend to rewear the same favorite outfits all of the time. Plus I don't like having clothes in my suitcase for that long!

... and I'm a procrastinator. :rolleyes1

I did start to pack tonight as it's only 14.5 days to go now *haha* But I only packed my really summery clothes. Weather has been pretty miserable here in London so can't see myself wear a skirt and strappy tops anytime soon, so off they went in the suitcase.

:rolleyes1 Oh my goodness! You guys already packed are killing me! I have 32 days left and so far?

I picked up movie boxes of candy for the road trip~
I bought a cute 3 way glowstick/flashlight for the 12dd~
We bought another Heys suitcase (clearanced out at Target)~
I packed one eyeglass cord in my 'travel' drawer (I start cramming an empty drawer with little things)~
I packed the car electric 'plug' thing that lets computers stay charged (I haven't a clue what it's called)~
and because I've read this today? I know where our Mickey rain capes are...so, I'll go find them and put them in the drawer...:rotfl:

At this rate, by the time we go...could be scary:scared1:

~still excited though!!:yay::yay::yay:

Well, I have done nothing to start getting ready! But since I don't have to pack for anyone but myself, it's not all that daunting.

Plus, I am a sick-o and actually like the last minute stuff getting ready for a trip, it makes those last days go by a little quicker!

Okay - everyone has inspired me that it's time to start packing - :rotfl: Getting excited now - first stay at Poly in a long, long time......look for my LGMH - see ya there!!!!::yes::

Question of the Day:

What are some must see attractions at the resorts?

Ex: Carriage Rides at POR

The torch lighting at the Poly, such a fun hidden gem.

The rubber ducky races at the Wilderness Lodge were a hit with my kids too.

And the Chip & Dale campfire, talk about a rarity at WDW - a free character experience!

Question of the Day:

To add some humor to the May board, what is the funniest/craziest or most radical thing you heard or saw in Disney? :lmao:

We were in the MK one day behind an older couple in line for Splash. The woman was very nice, sort of reminded me of my grandmother (who was the spitting image of Betty White's character in Golden Girls). They ended up in the boat ahead of us, and as we were getting off the ride we noticed them walking away... Let's just say that white cruisewear pants + Splash Mountain are NOT a good combination! :rotfl2:

One that I didn't personally see, but which might rank as one of the craziest Disney moments I've heard about was a story a security guard at Pop was telling us. We were sitting on a bench by the lake with some adult beverages and we got to chatting with the guard who rides around in the golf cart to keep the peace. As it happens, he started there just in time for the Brazilians! He told us that he'd had to break up several midnight skinny dipping sessions, and all I could think was 'Skinny dipping, in January? Those Brazilian girls are tougher than I am!' :crazy2:

I've packed some random things we won't need for the next 3 weeks... WOW just three weeks?! By this time next week, our countdown will in the teen numbers. CRAZY!!!

Back in the 90s, I was waiting in line for Splash Mountain... a kid decided that he was going to get scared after waiting 1 hour in line. His father was apparently not having any of that. He told him "You can go over the hill in this boat, or I'll throw you off myself!." The kid immediately sat down and stopped crying. :rotfl2:

:goodvibesI am so excited. We just booked our trip a few weeks ago. We have not told our kids yet we are going to surprise them the day before the trip!!! We are also staying at the Wilderness Lodge, our first time at a deluxe resort. I have been having so much fun planning this trip!! Can"t wait!!!:goodvibes

Must start sewing.......aaaaah!!!

At this point, I'm going to be finishing up the girls' outfits the night before we leave...or hand sewing in the car on the way down. :rotfl2:

I went out last weekend to try to get a couple more outfits with our Gymbucks, but they didn't have both sizes in anything I wanted. I'm going on to plan B. What that is? I don't have a clue.

We FINALLY got our dining plan added today, it has been such a whirlwind since we were able to get a CM discount. It was worth the wait though because she was able to save us a ton of money and every penny counts... We had to switch room types though, so it is a bit disappointing that we couldn't keep our king bed and now are down to the two queens, still at POFQ. My boyfriend is a horrible bed hog so I was looking forward to the king :lmao:

Yes but now you could have your own bed!!;)

I will start packing this weekend. I had every intention of doing it this week but we're crazy busy and I just haven't gotten to it. Slowly but surely I am getting everything squared away. Is it just me or is it hard to go away when you're a grown up??!! Between work, kids, extended family, pets, house stuff, errands, etc etc it's exhausting to just get the heck out of here for a week!:confused3

Time is FLYING by though so busy is good!
I can do online check in for AKL on Friday:cool1:
We rented points for a studio in Jambo house. I've only been there once for dinner at Jiko. I am really looking forward to it!!pixiedust:

Question of the Day:

When spending time in DTD, what are you most recommended places to see, shop or eat at?

Question of the Day:

We always eat at Wolfgang Puck Express (Market Place one) and get a margarita at the margarita stand (YUM!). After eating, the girls browse thru the shops while the guys make their way over to the West Side for the cigar shop and to listen to the live music on that end of DTD. We eventually meet up with the guys to catch the bus back to AKL at the bus stop on the West Side (or is it technically still Pleasure Island stop?).

Would still like to try Earl of Sandwich sometime and babycakes.

We've only ever eaten at Earl of Sandwich in DTD, but I would definitely recommend it. Great sandwiches, reasonable price.

Love World of Disney for shopping, but the Lego store is the family favorite!

We LOVE DTD.
We make sure to make it over there at least twice on every trip.
First night tradition is dinner at WPE.
Then we wander around and look in all the stores. The World of Disney is a must see! I was so impressed with the size when we first went in there. It's HUGE!
Some of our favourites include Basin, the toy store, the store with all of the kitchen items and the Christmas store. As you can see I don't pay much attention to names of places:rolleyes1

There's a great store to look at and buy pins as well. And we always hit up Ghiradelli for a late night treat.
9 more days!!! I am getting so excited!! 12 days until we get to Disney and have our first night dinner on the patio at WPE:thumbsup2
