****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

Question of the Day:

In what order will you be visiting the parks?

Magic Kingdom
Epcot
US / IOA
AK
HS

and then mix it up a little after that but we do plan to be in Magic Kingdom on my dd's 18th birthday which is the 27th. Bad day I know to be at the MK, but it's her request and her special day!

1st (kind of) day plans: Since we're driving we'll have stayed overnight somewhere in Georgia or Florida so we'll get up drive a couple more hours before arriving at CBR around 3/4 in the afternoon. We don't have tickets for that day so we'll be checking out the resorts and possibly heading to DTD!

1st (real day): Magic Kingdom, probably the whole day but maybe we'll head to DHS for SWW.

Order of the parks:
MK
DHS
Epcot
AK
Universal

We have park hoppers so we'll be all over the place while we are at Disney!

Question of the Day:

In what order will you be visiting the parks?

The first day we're going to AK as I am most excited to see my old "home". :lovestruc
The second day we have an ADR at Akershus so Epcot it is.
The third day we will go to MK, I think.
We'll go to DHS during a couple of the SWW days.
Other than that we don't have it planned out right now.

ok May peeps, I need help!

I was looking back over our days and our DHS date we have dinner at Akershus for 5:15pm. not sure what I was thinking when I made those reservations 120 days ago!

Should I move back the reservations to 6:55 instead? Mind you this will be a Sunday afternoon/evening and a SWW at DHS.

Is DHS a whole day park? Or would we be done by 2 or 3 anyway?

If you have hoppers, I think a great idea is to take one of your epcot days and split it with HS. So for example – do two days with HS and EP. Then you can spend equal time at both!

If this isn’t an option, I would try for a 6:30 reservation. Hope this helps :wizard:

Question of the Day:

In what order will you be visiting the parks?

MK 1/2 day once we arrive
Epcot for a morning ADR (we had a free 7th day ticket so what the heck)
MK full day
HS
AK
MK (I know, a 3rd day at MK!? but we have our parasailing appt. that morning and the BBB & Pirates League appt's that day too so it's not like we'll be going on rides steady...)
Universal/IOA
Epcot

Question of the Day:

AK

Epcot

Can you tell we like MK and Epcot just a little bit? Of course, that list is just where we will start the day. We may hop to another park in the afternoon or evening, depending on how we feel.

We are skipping DHS once again. We usually hit it every third trip or so because it's just not our favorite. We went in September so that I could fulfill my DD9's wish of riding Rock n Roller Coaster with her. I absolutely hate roller coasters and I have real problems with spinning/loops, so I made sure she knew the sacrifice I was making. Of course, I felt cruddy for about an hour after we were finished, but I can at least say that I did it...but never again!!!

Question of the Day:

In what order will you be visiting the parks?

I always break my days in half and visit two different parks per day.

5/4: Epcot
5/5: MK and AK
5/6: DHS and MK
5/7: Epcot and DHS
5/8: AK and MK
5/9: Epcot
5/10: MK and DHS

Question of the Day:

Tell us about a magical moment you had at the world… it can be anything from free dessert to a night in the castle!

We've had several really great ones...

On my daughter's 6th birthday trip, we were at the Magic Kingdom the night before her actual birthday and she was telling everyone all about it. After listening to her chatter, the CM at Dumbo let her have just one more ride at the stroke of midnight, so she could "start her birthday off right" on her favorite ride.

On the next trip, she was chosen to start the fireworks at California Grill. They don't do this any more, unfortunately, but it was really cool - the manager took her over by the hostess desk and they did a countdown and she flipped the switch, and just at that moment Tink took off to start Wishes.

Another one that they don't do any more but that is among our favorite memories is the time my son was chatting up one of the cast members at the monorail platform, asking all sorts of questions about how it works, and was invited to ride in the front. He still (at 14) has the monorail pilot's license card on his corkboard with a few favorite Disney pins.

Question of the Day:

What are some "overlooked" attractions in any of the 4 parks?

MK - The Swiss Family Treehouse. Great views and a fun little attraction, especially when it isn't too hot to enjoy the climb. And Philharmagic. Never a wait for Disney's best 4D movie.

EP - Living With the Land. A relaxing ride with a timeless message, and views of one of the most fascinating greenhouses anywhere. And the entire Morocco pavilion. The architecture and tilework are so beautiful, the shops and restaurants are among the most interesting Disney has to offer, and yet it is never crowded.

DHS - One Man's Dream. Easy to skip in rushing from one headliner to another but such a nice tribute to the man who started it all. And Writer's Stop. Not really an attraction but the best quiet little hidey-hole in a park I usually find chaotic and a little frustrating, stocked with an impressive little section of books about all things Disney.

AK - The whole park. The attention to detail is incredible but so easy to miss when you've got your nose in a touring plan, running from ride to ride.

Question of the Day:

If you had to pick the next location for a Disney themed resort or park – where would it be?

I can't imagine another location as good as the ones they have now, to be honest. Anywhere else in the US would have too much cold weather for me to be interested! I'd have to say Brazil, Belize, or Costa Rica, to see what Disney could do in incorporating local flavor and the natural wonder of those areas into a theme park.

I am thinking about doing something special for my mom on this trip. I have been looking on disneyflorist and I love some of their giftbaskets but I think I'd rather pay for something we can experience. Does anyone have any ideas of something that might be fun for either her or all of us? She doesn't want to go a spa and we are already taking a tour.

Have you checked to see if the Garden View afternoon tea is available for your dates? I'm not sure how quickly it books up but it would be a nice "ladies' day out" experience. http://allears.net/menu/menu_gft.htm

Question of the Day:

Tell us your tips and experiences with the "other" parks and attractions at WDW: Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, Disney Quest, Golf, Mini Golf, and everything else!

Disney's waterparks are nice enough but not must-dos in our opinion so I don't have any great tips to offer. My kids adore Disney Quest, though! There are two secrets to really enjoying that place - get there early, early being relative because they don't open until 11:30, right at opening is best, and go on a school day. We've broken those rules, going in the evening after a major park or on a weekend when we were there for MLK day and wanting to avoid the big parks on the holiday weekend, and it was packed. But when we've followed those rules we've had the place practically to ourselves.

Does anybody remember when last year they slightly revised the park hours for May?

I thought I remembered them adding a few more EMH's?

Of course I may be totally crazy.

I don't remember from last May, but lately they've fallen into a pretty predicable pattern of releasing updated park hours near the middle of the month prior. So the final May hours should come out any day now.

So what's everybody's 1st day plans??

Downtown Disney most likely, with dinner at T-Rex to use my Landry's birthday rewards. We seldom arrive early enough to do a park on the first day - this year we'll get to our resort around 4pm, just in time to get settled in, have dinner, and be rested for the next morning.

Question of the Day:

In what order will you be visiting the parks?

I think...
DTD
EP
MK
EP
AK
DHS
EP

We'll have hoppers and have to start two of our three park days at Epcot for DD's GS event and YES class, but where we go from there is subject to change. I'm basically not planning this trip, other than the special events and my birthday dinner. Everything else will be walk-up dining and going where ever we feel like being.

and then mix it up a little after that but we do plan to be in Magic Kingdom on my dd's 18th birthday which is the 27th. Bad day I know to be at the MK, but it's her request and her special day!

We're going to be there too because that's my birthday! We've got a 5:30 dinner reservation at California Grill followed by MK until the wee hours of the morning, and I am totally rooting for the updated park hours to change that night to a 3am EMH close. Those are the best!

First Day Plans:
Land at MCO at 1:30, Pickup Rental Car, and head to Shades of Green. My DBF is going to try to get his twin 2 year olds to nap :worship: while my mom and I head to the grocery store to stock up on snacks. Hopefully we will have some rested little boys because we are headed to Chef Mickey's at 7:00 for dinner.

Park Plan:
5/5 Arrival Day
5/6 MK
5/7 HS
5/8 AK
5/9 Pool/DTD Day
5/10 Epcot
5/11 MK

24 days!!!!!!

Question of the Day:

In what order will you be visiting the parks?

Good question, LOL! I keep going over the schedule...

So far, our arrival day I am hoping we are at the resort by 5 so we can drop everything and hustle over to Epcot for dinner at the Tangerine Cafe and watch Illuminations.

Then from the next morning:

Epcot
HS
MK
AK

Most of our dinner ADR's are Epcot centric since that is our favorite park, so most of our evenings are at Epcot. We have May 3rd evening slated for DTD and another dinner at CA Grill with an evening at MK.

Everything else we are just gonna wing it. Not so much commando on this trip. Lots of drinking and eating, LOL!

I always break my days in half and visit two different parks per day.

5/4: Epcot
5/5: MK and AK
5/6: DHS and MK This is our plans this day!
5/7: Epcot and DHS We will be at Epcot in the morning
5/8: AK and MK I penciled in AK for our morning, too!
5/9: Epcot This is our last day and I bet our morning will be at Epcot
5/10: MK and DHS

We have some of the same plans!
