****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

We're getting REALLY close to our double digit dance!! May 17th - May 28th are our dates at ASMu!! Can't WAIT!! :dance3:

Still at triple digits over here....cannot wait to start the double digit countdown!!

Just a few more days until our double digit party! And by party, I mean watch a Disney movie and talk about our trip too much. lol

The 5k run... how is it? Has anyone ever done it before? I'm a very beginner runner but would love to try something like this as long as it's not too grueling... the obstacles they have in between seem to break it up a bit ??? It's all done in the parks? Sounds like fun!!!

have to admit, as mch as I am enjoying Dis, it is really hard to keep up with. I wish it was more like FB.
My question is:
Is there DIS on FB? and or maybe a group for May 2012 trips?

If not, think we can make one??????

I have not done it but it sounds like so much fun!! and not gruelling at all. They do have a time requirement but I'm not too sure that it's actually followed b/c I saw the times for people last year and there were definitely some people over the specified time. I can't completely remember what it was just now - 16 min mile maybe???
Basically there aer 3 parts to the challenge...
1- 5K Race through Animal Kingdom parking lot - into and through the park and back out to the parking lot
2 - obstacles - quite simple such as jump hay bales, run in tires, balance beam and a net to climb (I do believe the obstacles are NOT mandatory and you can go around them but as I've never actually been do not hold me to this)
3 - scavenger hunt through the animal kingdom park.

I think it's been done two ways -
run with obstacles spread out throughout the run and scavenger hunt after that is done
&
run, then obstacles at the end, then scavenger hunt.

Not completely sure HOW they plan to do it this time but there is talk of looking for clues while you run that will help you to solve the clues at the end and I'm not sure if the obstacles will be through the course or after.

Hope this helps :) Oh - it is an evening race and will start I beleive at 9:30pm this year. There is a party in the park afterwards and DinoLand will be open (with Dinosaur) as well as Expedition Everest and Kali River Rapids. You get the after party pass with your registration and if you want non running family members to join you for the party you will be required to buy a party ticket for them. Regular park tickets will not get you in.

 Count this disneychik and her fam in for May 19-26th and lovin' it!
We'll be at CBR and we can't wait!:banana::banana:

Thanks! It does sound like a lot of fun and I really wish I could participate!!! My first 5K at Disney would be sooo amazing BUT we have HDDR reservations for that night and I don't think I can talk my whole group into changing our plans just for me :( Maybe next time...

The airport webpage is confusing me so much... Let me know if anyone knows about the following...

True or false:

1) I can bring full sized shampoo, toothpaste, etc. as long as it's in the bag that the airline checks in/puts underneath the plane. You can only have the travel sized bottles in your carry-on bag.

2) I can't wear my shoe insoles on the plane, they have to be checked in/put in my non-carry-on suitcase.

:confused3

As long as DH's leave is approved (fingers crossed!), we'll be at WL May 2-10 :yay: Just booked last week!

1. Full-sized items must be checked, anything in your carry on must be 3.4 ounces or smaller.

2. Gel inserts must be placed in the checked-luggage. If it's not a gel insole then you can wear them. The limitation is on the gel.

^ Thank you! GAAAH why can't May be sooner.

My tax return is a-comin', though. :D Hooray! Disney will be paid off!
