Official May 2011 thread!

Ok, so what is everyone doing for their vacations right now?

We booked our transportation, have AP and TIW card, made our ADRs, put a rough schedule together and made our resort reservations. Oh, I also got some cool Disney gifts that I'll give prior to the trip -- like Disney Princess nightgowns B1G1 free and plush. Usually I don't buy this far in advance but with all the great Christmas deals, I decided to buy for both Xmas gifts and for May vacation right now.

Marshay- I truly don't know that I will be able to keep it quiet. But thats the plan. We talk about Disney all the time and "plan" for our next trip year round, so talking about it won't be any different. Just can't say WHEN...

I've not done a whole lot for this trip yet other then making ADRs. We are leaving in 6 days to go down there for Christmas. The May trip is to celebrate my graduation from college. I will be walking sometime in May for my Bachelors in Hospitality Management. I'll get more planning going on this trip after we come back on the 29th. :)

Happy planning everyone :)

All I have done so far is ADR's after the kids get their surprise announcement on Christmas morning, we will then start more planning. I want the kids to help in the planning, they are 11 and almost 14.....so they will have a blast helping with this.

I hate this point in the planning process for Disney. I've booked our trip, bought our plane tickets, booked our ADRs and worked out a daily schedule based on which parks we want to visit and what ADR's we have. So all the basic leg work is done, yet it's too early to start doing the little things before you leave--buying things you'll need for the trip, pre-packing, etc. Now I have nothing to do but sit back and second guess my touring plans :rotfl:....

I am getting sooo excited for our first trip! It cant come fast enough. Granted we will have a 2 month old at the time we go, so I pray its a smooth trip. We also have our dd who will be 4.5.

Does anyone have a timeline of things they do before the trip? Like 4 months out do x, 3 months out do x, 2 months, 1 month, etc?? We have everything booked and paid besides airfare and spending money, but I have fears about forgetting to pack things, or things we need to do, etc.

Have you made your ADR's yet? You definitely want to do that 180 days out or as soon as possible if you are closer than 180.

There are tons of lists out there to use for what to pack--here on the DIS and on allears.net are some of the best. Here's one to start you off from all ears: http://allears.net/pl/forgot.htm

About a month before our trip I set out a plastic storage bin in our bedroom in the corner. I randomly think of things that I need to remember to take but don't always have time to write them on my list. So to remedy that, I just toss the items into the bin so that way when I do my official packing I won't forget it! I use this for random items (like band aids or baby tylenol) not for normal items that I would pack like toiletries.

Also, another good item to bring (especially with young children) is ziplock bags--I take a variety of sizes: snack size, sandwhich size and gallon size. I use the smaller ones to save leftover food from a meal for a snack later on. The gallon ones come in handy in case one of your kids has an accident and needs to put on clean clothes--need to have a place to put the dirty ones! The gallon bags are also good for keeping your valuables from getting wet. For that matter, don't forget to take a change of clothes with you to the parks!

HAHAHA right there with ya sista.. I want us to do some matching outfits.. So, I am trying to figure those out.. However, I don't have the money to buy them yet or have someone make them.. Wish I was more crafty, would give me something to do with my spare time,..

Hi, all. Just got back last Friday, while there we told my kids that our friend Teresa is surprising her kids in May, and enlisted them to help with the planning of their surprise trip, that way they aren't surprised when we talk about it, but they don't think they are going. I know May will be HOT but after the cold last week, we are looking forward to that! Plus its cold here at home too, but we had thought we were going to FL to escape the cold, we didn't manage that too well, LOL. We still had a wonderful time though!

We have all our ADR's made, which kinda guide where we'll be each day, so we won't do TOO much else other than make payments on the trip until about 6 weeks out, we generally wait until around that to buy the airfare, so we can get any sales that come out, also will look at possibly flying into Tampa the day before and spending a day visiting with my brother before coming into Orlando, so we'll see how that goes. Then about 2 weeks or so ahead I will preorder the photopass cd, most likely.

Yes its in black and white.... Kristi said she is ordering the cd.. Ok that is marked off my to do list :teeth:

You all have me SO excited!!! We're hitting the park for a few days before our cruise (Disney of course!). We'll do MK one day and IOA the next because I REFUSE to come to Orlando and not see the WWoHP! We're deciding if we want to do 2 days at Disney to hit up Epcot too. So far our ADRs are

Ohana 7:30am
CRT 12:15pm

Oh, but you are there longer than me... though we can team it together and just put all our cards on there. We didn't preorder this time, and its probably a good thing, cause as cold as it was we never even saw a photo pass photographer until Thursday afternoon.

Hoping for May 2011. May 7th-14th. Two weeks after Easter and a few weeks before the summer crowds. We have never taken DS out of school but we are trying it for 2011. Kind of tired of June heat and Star Wars weekends. DS will be 10 and in 4th grade but all state testing will be finished. Haven't decided on resort usually stay on-site but we are planning on visiting Universal & maybe Sea World.

We are in the same boat! :) We will be there the 7-14th as well and also are taking our kids out of school (4th & 1st grader-and preschooler). I really didn't want to take them out, either--but when you are spending this much money, I didn't want to go during Spring Break when it's packed. Have a great trip--we are counting down over here! Still seems so far away.
