Official May 2011 thread!

Well for starters, I have made each of them a 2011 Calendar, with holidays and different events listed thru-out the year.... after giving them the other gifts we have for Christmas, we will give them the calendars and tell them that they have one gift yet that has to be "delivered" so they need check the calendar to see when it is expected to arrive! This will make them go thru it month by month, then when they get to May it says "We are going to Disney world", across the the week we are going! I would like to build upto it a little more so I am still in the planning phase.

LOL--I had come up with the same idea. Although I didn't make calendars, I found some Disney one's in the Target Dollar spot, so I got those and was going to write going to Disney World on our week :)

Hope your surprise goes well :wizard:

Thanks for sharing!

Thats too funny!! I am going to expand some on it, just haven't figured out yet how for sure. On my homemade calendars, I am putting different pictures on each month to personalize them. On May I have a big cartoon castle picture!.

AKL, how old are your kids? Mine are 11(boy)and almost 14(girl), These are my grandkids, The 14 year still loves everthing POOH, so our first night at Disney we are having dinner at the Crystal Palace, which is where Pooh and the gang are, so I am really hoping to set the stage on this one.

My kids are younger--DD is 6 and DS is 3 but will be 4 when we go. That's why I was trying to find a pretty simple way to surprise them. I'm really relying on DD to "figure" it out and then DS will catch on! He knows what Disney is because he remembers our trip from this past year (it was not his first time), so once DD figures it out, he will understand where we are going. They've both been asking/talking about "the next time we go I want to do this" so I can't wait to tell them! :woohoo: In fact, DD was just saying this morning that she was jealous of a flock of birds because they were going to Disney World for the winter. A couple years ago when she asked where do birds migrate to in the winter. I told her south and she wanted to know where south was. So I said to Flordia, and she replies, "You mean, like to Disney? They are SO lucky!!" :rotfl: Guess that explaination stuck with her b/c she brings it up from time to time.

I think I am going to buy each of them their own suitcases for this trip and pack them with stuff that they need in addition to the calendars. If she can't figure it out based on the stuff in the suitcase, then she can read the calendar. :)

We also have an ADR for Crystal Palace; our first breakfast of the trip in fact--my kids love Pooh too and I think it's a great meal to start off with!

So we've actually booked our trip, May 1-8.... I have also made dining ressies as followed:

May 1 - Tony's Town Square @ 7:00
May 2 - Crystal Palace @ 7:00
May 3 - Sci- fi @7:05
May 4 - Akershus @7:00
May 5 - Trail's End @7:00
May 6 - Marakesh @7:00
May 7 - Via Napoli @7:00

We have eaten everywhere except Trail's End, Marakesh and Via Napoli.... does anyone have any suggestions on what to get? The Marakesh is sort of scaring me... lol

I am so excited to have booked my trip but I am getting irriated that all this Christmas stuff is taking away from my trip planning. I am DEFINITELY going to do a pre- trip report..

I put all my ressies down on this thread previously but here they are again..
It is the perfect year for us to go because my family and I have SO much to celebrate. My son Logan turns 5 and my husband and I both turn 40 next year.. Oh and then there is the whole " I survived cancer thing".. I had a horrific crazy experience that put life in to perspective, thus our May trip..

May 5th.. 50's Prime Time.. 12:10.. Sci-Fi. 6:55pm (for dessert)
May 6th.. Ohana 7:35pm
May 7th..5:00pm Yak and Yeti.. (this may change if I can find a partner who wants to do the Everest Run, hubby can't do it cause of Logan)
May 8th (MOTHERS DAY) lunch..Le Cellier 2:30pm..
May 9th. Il Mulino (Swan) 7:00pm
May 10th Crystal Palace..10:15am

Last time I went with my son we booked way too many ADRS.. This time with the exception of 1 day.. I wanted to get the most of our time here and didn't want to be running from ADR to ADR..
So who is going the same week we are??? I would love a meet up..

I'm so excited going May 28Th-June 5Th. It will be are fist time ever to disneyland! We will be staying at Anaheim harbor RV park. It is are Christmas present to the kids so we are hiding the Disneyland tickets in the tree and doing a Disney theme Christmas!! I got a lot of little things kinda hinting up to the big present the tickets !! I also got a few things not Disney because we are not going tell May and I wanted them to have something they can play with on Christmas. I think they will be so excited!! My in-laws are going with us too.

This thread seems to move sooo slow compared to the Feb one !!
If anyone is interested I made a Facebook group for those of us traveling May 2011! (link removed as am not allowed to post these yet)
Sometimes its easier for me to keep in touch via FB, though I :lovestruc the disboards too! Just send a request if you'd like to join, I figure we could share info, plans, etc...maybe make a master list of who's going when and such !!! Which reminds me, I need to get a new ticker :)

Hi All!

I have lurked on these boards after a friend reffered me. I am trying to figure stuff out and its sooo overwhelming. I called disney and have a hold for a reservation and I think we are going to book in on Monday.

Its our first time there!!! It will be me, dh, dd (4) and a baby who will be 2 months ( due in march).

We will do the free dining, so going May 27-June2 and staying at POP, doing a 5 day park hopper as one day we plan to rent a car and head to the beach.

Questions about dining. I am getting sooo many mixed things. We planned to do the quick meals ( so 2 quick meals, 1 snack and a refillable mug). We want to do Cinderella's castle ( cant make reservations till the end of the month, so hope we get in) and also maybe Chef's mickey. Would it be worth upgrading to the regular meal plan so that we can use our 1 table meal for those? Or if we only plan to do those two, just book those seperately??? I am so lost. I want it to be the best cost effective wise.

Any other info for first time visitors? I am SOOO excited to book it and go! We will also do the biddi boddi botique or however you spell it :)

We're going the same dates and staying at the POP! We upgraded to regular dining plan and it was only around $100 or so. Definitely worth it in my opinion since it's easy to spend that on one meal at WDW. Hope you have a great trip!

Our ADR at the crystal palace is for dinner on the 29th.
I thought about the suitcase deal but agreed with my DH that we have enought luggage ( and not enough storage place at home) So I decided against that idea. I have been coming up with some different small ideas but haven't put it together yet, I want to be sure I do it right(in my eyes)
Once this trip is revealed, they can help plan the rest of the trip as far as what we will do each day and where.
Can't wait to get more planning done, but not going to have a strict plan that makes it impossible to keep :)

Do you have a disney store by you? You could get a reusable bag for each of them and then put the stuff you were gonna put in the suitcase in there. Those are the best. I use ours all the time..
