Official May 2009 Thread....The wait is on!!

In the park strategies section of DIS, other May goers were talking about how crowded it is supposed to be this may (ratings of 8s n 9s from the UG). What the HECK am I going to do? I can't wait on 90 min lines with a 4 yr old and I cant plan good with the FPs....help I am totally stressing!

Anyone else hear this? What do I do?
I booked May b/c I figured it was pretty calm there before Memorial Day, now according to UG the 1st week of June has 4s n 5s!!!

:( Very sad....

I must say we went the same week last year (May 23-30th) & it was very crowded but we are used to that because we used to go during April vacation week so we just try to get to the parks for rope drop, get the fast passes, try to decide ahead of time what you want to ride & have a plan going in. Even with crowds you can have a great time & get alot done but you really do need a plan.

Well, I'm not worried! We are going 5/7-5/17 and have visited WDW the first or second weeks of May for pretty much the last 10 years. I never use TGM or UG because we like to go to the parks with evening EMH. We usually don't get to the parks until 11am. That being said, we have never waited in line for anything more than 30 minutes and that was for Dumbo. I can't imagine that this year is going to be any different. I was just reading a news article yesterday that even with the 4/3 deal, Disney is having a hard time getting people through the gates! Don't panic! You'll have a great time!

I'M GOING IN MAY!! 5/10- 5/23 to be exact.

Definitely the best time to go, I loooove the Flower and Garden Festival. Anyone know the dates this year?!?

I'm just too gosh darn excited.. I'll be celebrating my first college degree (and 21st birthday!) at the Dis.. what's the best going out place on property??

I'm excited for my trip.. and for my fellow Dis May travelers! :yay:

Congrats on your degree!

A group of us are going around the same time as you. Check out this thread to see if you would like to join us. Since you will be turning 21, you can join us at Jellyrolls on May 13th.

I've gone the last week of May for many years, and it has NEVER been unbearable waits in lines. I've waited no more than 60 mins for a ride... and I think that was for the Rock N Rollercoaster. If you can't wait that long, try using the fast pass. It helps a lot! This week we are going to a week earlier than usual... so we'll see if it's MORE or LESS busy... or maybe no difference at all.

Were in Nj? We will be driving with the 4 kids:scared1: . What resort are u staying at? WE will be at POR

My family and I (there's 5 of us) were going to all pack into a car for 12 hrs. Well, when we did that back for New Year's for 12 hrs, not one of us was pleasant to be around. Did I mention that my brother (22) is 6'2" and doesn't like being cramped, so as a result my little sister (12) had to lean on me the whole time to give him space. Needless to say we weren't happy. ALL of that to say, to avoid having to put up w/ grouchy people for hours on end, my dad decided we were flying this time around. The only way my mom would fly was if her parents flew with us (yeay! don't ya love having your grandparents along w/ ya!!!! so excited!), so my dad decided to buy everyone's tickets. I guess we were really grouchy last time! :rotfl2:

Lucky group!! We are trying to decide if we want to rent a van and make a real family trip. Or, go in two cars - we would pay for the gas for both veh.-which would save money on the rental and family sanity.

We are headed to Disney for our first ever trip May 2-9 off site:woohoo: . Any recomendations are greatly appreciated, as I am lost on where to begin. I had a DD 3princess: and a DS 1pirate: . Also going are my DH and my inlaws.

Yay!! Your family is going to have a wonderful time!! My recommendations with little ones are to make sure you take breaks/naps, have a comfy stroller, if you want any tables service meals, make ressies NOW and take time to enjoy your children's experiences!!

okay I can hardly wait for May!!! We had snow and sleet this morning for crying out loud! I want to go to my happy place - WDW:dance3:

It snowed here too! Yuck!!!!
We are going May 22-29
I read how ya'll are getting snow and sleet and
I was so thrilled when a cool front passed through last night
dressed the two 2 yr olds in long sleeves and pants, went to the store, stopped a the playground to have a picnic and play. Needless to say they were both red in the face, had to change to short sleeves and I'm sun burnt. The sad thing about our weather is its still too cool at night for the pool to warm up.
Therefore, I can't wait for May & WDW can't wait to cool off in the pool.

Opposite weather--same wishes

Have a great trip

The Jellyrolls meet and greet ounds like so much fun!! Hopefully I can ditch my group and meet you guys for a bit!!

Is that one of the best places for drinks at WDW? I heard of an orange and Grand Marnier slushie at the France pavilion.. anyone know of this?

I feel your pain.. I like in Western New York.. aka the frozen tundra from September-April. It's miserable. WDW in May is the best.. not too hot, not too cold, I can hardly wait!!

woohoo- it's official- just paid in full!!!! Going April 30th - May 10th
staying at the Beach Club std view- and praying for an upgrade ........is it too early to start packing???

NJfamilyof6 - we're from Elberon/Long Branch (Monmouth County). How 'bout you? We're flying down so we can spend every second of our vacation in the best place in the world  - even if we can't afford the airfare. Staying at BCV.

Eating breakfast at Boatwrights was a favorite tradition for us. We're really disappointed they stopped serving breakfast - just like when they closed Bonne Famille at POFQ :sad2: I guess we'll have to eat at Kona or Olivia's this trip.

Have a blast and maybe we'll run into each other! :cool1:
