Official May 17th Alaska Cruise Thread!

Already packed? I'm SO jealous...we're just getting started here...I get to pack for me and the kids, DH is on his own LOL! Still waiting for my fish extender to get here, FE gifts are halfway done...I'm so glad to hear we hopefully won't hit the rough seas that the first cruise did, but I picked up our seasick patches from the pharmacy today...shuttle is booked, and it's one week and counting!:yay:

Well this is odd -I just got a letter and policy and thanks for purchasing DCL vacation protection insurance. I didn't buy it - double checked my reservation - not on there- never paid for it! lol

We've started packing here too. Thanks to everyone who has helped us with links, photos & blogs to help us find the answers we've been looking for! Can't believe we'll all be on vacation in just one week!

Lollipop's Mom,

Since we are driving up to Vancouver from Seattle, we are wanting to stop at a grocery store on our way to Canada Place. Can you please give us some ideas of where we can stop? It would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Nick

Lets see... here is your best bet -
Take the Pacific Hwy Border Crossing (not Peace Arch). They are next to each other pretty much.
When you come over the border you just go straight - keep going - You will come to a town called Cloverdale (this is where they film smallville if you happen to be a fan, also where they film TONS of stuff actually).
When you come to 56th Ave, turn right.
Follow this down and on your right side will be a little mini-plaza and there is an IGA Marketplace - small grocery store that will probably work for you - easy to navigate. There is also a big drug store in this plaza and fast food.
Now if you want a BIG grocery store let me know - just not sure what you are after!
When you are done in the store, come out and go back the way you came, and turn back up the same road (hwy 15) - that road will take you all the way to Hwy 1 West and take you into Vancouver.

If you need an address for GPS of that store it is 17710 56 Ave, Surrey.
You will be about 10 mins from my house at that point :)

Let me know if that one will work. I can get you to a big safeway instead if you want.

Hi All,

So... starting to stress about the trip. Packing, geting ready, warm clothes, shopping for a a winter coat, ahhhhhh! :upsidedow

But SOOOO excited about being back on the Disney Wonder. We have missed "our ship."

We are also getting excited about Alaska after seeing some of the AMAZING photos people have been posting from the ship this last week. Someone here mentioned a good book about cruising in Alaska. I can't seem to find it. Anyone? Anyone? Thanks!

Just checked Hotwire and Pan Pacific is still listed however it has gone up in price a little bit to $132. I've also got a few more request for shirt graphic if anyone else needs them please PM me. Thanks

Hey Nick
You could always walk up to the Shangri-la on Georgia St, there is a awesome Urban Fare Grocery Store there, depending what your looking for. They have ready made meals/pizza/salads it's really Gourmet. as well as all the other usual grocery store items + pharmacy. I think its great you want to stop at a Canadian grocery store, but remember no booze in Canadian grocery stores. There is is government liquor store across the street from Canada Place.
Have a safe Journey Up.

Oh, just like Pennsylvania! It will feel like home! :rotfl2:

It seems my list of things to get done is getting longer each day, it should be getting shorter. Cant wait to get to the airport and be on my way.

When one of you is on the Wonder can you look for me if Alex from The Netherlands is still working at the buffet. He's headchef at the buffet.

Thank you,
Connie

Started packing - clothes all packed but a few last minute things we are still wearing this week. I can't find my polar fleece jacket anywhere -I haven't had to wear a coat for over a month here (yes in Canada lol).
FE stuff is packed.

I realized my daughter is going to be in 'gasp' jeans in the dining room some nights- she is a teen and does not own 'pants' - and usually on the cruises she wears a sundress or skirt to dinner, but it might be too cold - so I packed some nice tops and she can wear them with dark jeans -I highly doubt anyone will care. She does have a cute dress for formal night and another for semi-formal, so she is all set that way.
I might even wear jeans a couple nights myself - I am trying to pack in ONE medium suitcase - I am convinced it can be done!

Wow, I can't believe that many of you are all packed. I took my large suitcase out yesterday and realized that I definately will need to get a new one.

After my Med cruise last September, something happened on US Air to my suitcase from the time I checked in at Barcelona to the time I picked it up in Philadelphia. I didn't even recognize it. :scared1: It had a large v-shaped dent on the side of it, several deep cuts to the front, and the material around the edge was ripped off on the top corner.

When I got home, my parents said don't worry about it, so I didn't think about it again till yesterday. I tried to bend the frame back into place but found it was pretty solid and I had no such luck. So now I am in a bit of a panic because Walmart didn't have any American Tourister luggage last night only some really cheap stuff.

Dont know what I am going to do yet? Maybe I will stop at Ross and TJ Maxx on the way home and see if I can get a bag.

I am planning to bring several dark pair of jeans that may be able to double as bottoms with NICE tops for cruise casual dining. I suspect they mean that my husband should not wear his ripped and stained jeans that he wears to do chores around the house to dinner rather than jeans.....just a guess though! I'm sure you will be fine.

I'm envious that your clothes are nearly packed...we are still doing laundry preparatory to packing! We are leaving on Saturday, so I need to finish up pretty soon, I guess!!

I can hardly function at work, thinking about what needs to be done when! Kris, my list keeps getting longer, too!!

I watched our ship sail last week for her inaugural cruise. Might watch her go tonight too...depends on what else is going on....

T minus 5 days for me :banana::banana::banana::banana:

is it better to reserve a shuttle bus ride to the airport from the port on disembarkation day? or are there plenty of taxis & transportation options?
