Official May 17th Alaska Cruise Thread!

Tonight they opened a whole pile of 11b rooms. Just your nightly annoying stateroom report you all expect from me! Lol

I tried with no luck but if for some reason you get a 10a at the front of the ship i'll trade you for my 10c at the aft of the ship. There is never enough movement at the back of the ship for me.[/QUOT

Deal!!! See you at port! Lol

No number for me. I really think they are waiting and going to give me whatever crappy room is left over that no one wants!!

i'm still waiting for a room too. i wonder if i'll even know before i leave for vancouver or if i'll just find out at the port

Hi!
I am so thrilled to see another girl my daughters age on this cruise! My daughter is turning 15 on May 2nd (this is her birthday present). Once she finds out about the cruise, maybe we can hook the 2 of them up on facebook so they can 'meet' before the cruise.
We live in Langley.

FYI,

I've been asked a couple of time about where to buy the iron-on transfer paper for the group shirts that we are making.

Check at Hobby Lobby or Walmart.

Also this past weekend, Old Navy was having a sale and my wife found a white hoody jacket that she wants to use. It was only $9. They also had some nice white shirts (thicker than normal tshirts) for $5.

So who has already made their shirts for the cruise?

@Tweedle Dees, check out my pervious post about our group's cruise shirts if you want to participate. You have to have posted to this forum 10 times before you can send me a PM with the information that I need.

Magicimagineer,

Thank you

We bought our iron-ons at hobby lobby. We followed directions, they looked great, we waited a few days, turned them inside out and washed them. I still think they look good but my wife says the images are starting to crack. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Not sure, I've always tried to cut the graphics as close as possible.

Thank you

I always wash the shirts first. The directions may say not to, but I think it helps with the longevity of the image. We have experienced some fading after first washing, but after washing the shirts before applying the transfer, no significant cracking. :)

Only you and your wife can tell whether you will be comfortable wearing them, but a little cracking is not something that would cause me to do it over again. FWIW, we wash inside out, in cold water, and use a liquid fabric softener.

Looking forward to seeing everyone's shirts, and I love that we can all do them in the styles and sizes we like best. I am making long sleeved tees and possibly sweatshirts for us, since I expect it to be cold when we cruise! :thumbsup2

FE Deadline

Any state rooms that are still wanting to participate in the FE must indicate by:
May 1, 2011 by 11:59PM Eastern Standard Time (EST).

We have imposed this deadline so that everyone will have a final count and be able to complete their FE gifts by the time they leave for travel. We all have different departure dates. On May 2nd I will have the final FE list completed and in PDF format for easy printing.

Great advice, I'll have to let my wife know about that. Hope everyone takes note about these extra steps for preparing your shirts.

Okay...so I'm new to this on many fronts...have never cruised before, have never Disney cruised, and have never been to Alaska...I've read the website about packing advice and I'm planning on layers...but can anyone give me hints...for example...how big a suitcase can I bring? where do we stash them in the rooms? what's the temp on the ship, because I would assume most things are inside? I can plan for shore excursions, etc...but I'm wondering just for meals and such...what should I bring? any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!!:flower3:

Oh, forgot to mention, since we're from Southen California - we don't really "do" weather down here...usually it's short sleeves and dresses ...how warm do I need to dress?

H Everyone!
Lollipop's Mom- Great News the girls will be able to buddy up on the ship!
What a nice Bday present!
Magic Imagineer- your images for the shirts look great, I'll try to get my posts up so I can message you and look for some transfer paper at michael's or joann's. Thank you!
Nick- we would love to participate in the fish exchange. We also love your decorated door and are looking forward to getting some decorations made for ours! We will have late dining and room 7054, sorry to be late in, but it looks like such fun!
Hi Disney Dreams!

Doing the doc dance!! Fedex just came to my door!
3 weeks and no room number yet :(

All of those cat 11B rooms disappeared - I am sure they were not all booked- I am totally fine with an 11B - I actually love the non-split bath. Just give me a room!

Hi liz, bummer you still have no room. In reading the May 3 it seems some of them don't have rooms yet. But tnen again some of Hawaii gty have rooms. I think Disney is playing games with us because one day everything is booked then the next day they are not again. I think they are trying to make it look full to sell faster then switching it up on us. I had called to see f we could so an upgrade with the new.window price, a no go but was told that these prices are available on certain sailing from the start, I think I was getting the run around because they keep changing. It will be interesting to see how full the ship is.

Hi all,

I also recommend washing the shirts BEFORE ironing on the transfers, but it is REALLY important to avoid using ANY fabric softener, liquid or dryer sheets, when prewashing the shirts. Fabric softener interferes with the adhesion and quality of the image. I was a manager for JoAnn Fabrics for many years and this is the number 1 recommendation that the producers of the iron on transfer sheets leave out of their instructions!

Have fun and can't WAIT to see you all in a few more days! :dance3:
