My daughter did All-Star cheer for 7 years and has opted to stop after last season being cut short. My son cheers for high school and this is his Senior year. We are really hoping to end his season in DisneyI am just one of the lucky parents with a job that will allow for short notices. Any competitive sport is hard in a normal season, let alone one like we are dealing with. I know it is not in the control of one entity to make the decision. Varsity, UCA, Disney, states, schools, athletes and parents all have to be aligned for any team to be able to participate. One day you can be scheduled for an event and the next it be gone or up in the air, OR...a team member can be quarantined for sitting in class next to a COVID positive student the day before you leave and the whole team misses out because of it. To have to sit at home away from people for a week or two when you are not sick is very hard on athletes that put in hours and hours a day to be able to win at their sport. We are on the edge waiting for these March dates to come out so we can plan and pray that nobody gets quarantined. The unknowns are definitely getting to us cheer parent.
