*OFFICIAL MARCH 2010 THREAD* - Lets countdown together!

Well, as I should have known my 2 sons and I have pretty nasty colds that hit us yesterday. Fevers and coughs... oh well, we have a few day to try to get over it... Here's hoping our little girl and my husband don't get it.;)

Best of luck for DH and DD, hopefully they'll stay healthy. Starting pumping them full of Vitamin C and garlic!!:wizard:

Online checkin is done.

Although when it asks when you are departing, I put in 3 hours prior to my flight time b/c I thought that was what they wanted and when I would be scheduled to catch DME to the airport. Our flight is at 8:30 pm and I put 5:30 is that right?

also- in noticed it had the correct flight numbers but the times for our flights weren't in there correctly? Do I need to get this updated?

You'll want to change that because they will pick you up 3 hours or more before your flight. If you don't change it they'll be picking you up 6 hours early

The question they ask is:

"Estimated Resort hotel departure time for latest departure:" (enter time)

and they have a note that checkout time for this resort is 11 am.

I am going to request a late check out for 1 pm while there, but I am unclear on what answer they want and why they want it?

Would this be when my flight is leaving orlando or when we plan to leave resort via DME? I put the resort leaving time via DME. I really don't think there is a point to this question unless we were checking out prior to 11 am unless they need to plan for baggage storage?

They also have my flight numbers, although the times are not in there. I could always ask the questions when I get there. How does everyone else answer this question. I think I am overthinking the question LOL

It's only 17 days!! I can't wait until next Friday when I can do my on-line check in. I was at Costco and bought the twins the Heys carry-on sized luggage. I think they'll be perfect for them to manage. I also got sunscreen and some more things for my first aid kit. My Garden Grocer order is in and I want to start packing!

In the meantime I am getting my house ready to list and am looking for a new one. So I have plenty to do before Mickey takes me away from it all.

Can't wait to be back in Disney!

I have always only given them the time of my flight. It is up to DME to decide what time I need to be picked up to head for the airport. However, I have not ever checked in online. I gave this information to the Member Services reservation agent. For non-DVC this would be whomever you spoke to at the main Disney phone number. Maybe you should call 407-WDISNEY and ask them which time that need. The reason is that the DME is schedule based on what time most people from your resort are leaving for the airport. They will not send a bus just with you, so they look at the flight times for everyone leaving that day and group them. That is why it is approx. 3 hours. It can be as little as 2-2/12 or up to 4 even. It only takes 1/2 hour to get to the airport. Bell Services will store your carry on luggage for you. The non-carry on checked bags that you check at the resort (unless you're going Soutwest) check-in will be put in these little cages with wheels until they load them onto the bus.

Had my surgery yesterday and all went well. Feel like I was run over by a Mac truck right now but that was to be expected. Just happy to know that I will be at the happiest place on earth in only.....

23 DAYS!!!

Glad to hear your surgery went well. Rest up and you will be at Disney in no time.

I made it to Friday this week because my countdown is getting shorter.....
Come on trip!

Oh! I'd love to know more about the tip envelopes...mousekeeping will only be coming once to our Villa, but do you use them for dining too? Do you fill them ahead of time? How does that work?? I need something to keep me busy these next couple days!! :D

I didn't do these last year, but saw the idea on the board to do your tip envelopes up ahead of time, then you can just pull them out when needed. I'm basing the tip $$ in them on the menu costs / cost per meal for the dining plan so I will already have the cash in them. For mousekeeping, I'm basing on $2 per person per day, plus $1 - so just rounding to $10 per day.

Ok now I'm confused.:confused3 You're going to carry envelopes around the parks with tip money for your table service meal. How will you know how much the tip should be in advance. You dining plan cost per day includes a snack and a QS meal (if on the regular plan) and its hard to break out the individual cost of the TS meal. IMHO your server should be tipped based on the rack rate price of the meal. Just as if you have a BOGO coupon for a meal you tip based on what the meal would have cost without the BOGO, so if you order the surf and turf meal at Rose & Crown, you should tip based on the regular price of the meal. The server does the same work even if you pay a discounted price for the meal. Are you deciding your meals in advance? When we did the meal plan after the tip was no longer included (a bad idea IMHO), we charged the tips for each meal to our room charge. Then we didn't have to carry cash. The meal plan is for cost savings and convenience. When the removed the tip from the included cost, they removed alot of the convenience. Now you have to do math again!:teacher:

for mousekeeping. You said $2 per person per day. How do you know how many persons clean your room when you're not there? I've only seen 1 or 2 ladies cleaning a room at one time.

I think she meant she looked at the menus and based on what you get per meal with the dining plan she knows what the tip will be. Of course I could be wrong but thats what it sounds like.

As far as mousekeeping a guide for tipping for that is $2 per person staying in the room, I am not sure where the $1 came in at though. We had a party of 5 so we would tip $10 a day for mousekeeping.

Ok , 7 days to first trip -Pop-in March, 4 nites at Pop for son's 14th Birthday and Mom's 65th Birthday.

Then, 26 days to 2nd trip-AKL-4 nites for DH bus in Orlando.

As often as we go, I'm still so excited. I starting the constant checking of the weather. looks good for the first-finally some sun and warm Fla weather!

Ha! I know some people like that, too. I have to take some, well, "pharmaceutical" help to get through the plane ride as well, to be honest. a little xanex and some wine makes Jennifer not care about the physics of flying and how that metal tube stays aloft.

We are staying at the Poly. I haven't stayed there since I was a kid, back in the late 70's I think. This trip, next to our honeymoon to Hawaii, is the most expensive trip I have ever taken. But we really wanted to go deluxe this time. As god as my witness, I will never go budget again!

Seems like there are a bunch of DC'ers on this board. I can finally be shame free about my love for Disney!

Jennifer

Ah the Poly...I've never stayed, but it is high on my list of resorts I would love to stay at. We are DVCers though so unless they build villas there (I would definitely add on if they did!) we probably will just have to admire from afar. Hope you have a great time.

I know what you mean about DC and Disney-shame. I swear, it's like a dirty little secret that I must keep to myself around here. Actually it's a bit better since we moved across the American Legion to NoVA (still haven't changed my location under my DIS name), but I still get the "How can you keep going back there? Wouldn't you like to actually experience something real? Maybe actually go to Morocco rather than visiting 'Faux-rocco' at Epcot?"

Plus my brother likes to bring up that '70's movie 'West World'...you know the one with Yul Brenner were the 'audioanimatronic' robots go crazy and start killing off all the park guests.

But I let my Disney-freak flag fly and try to remember that those who are not fortunate enough to understand or appreciate my love of Disney clearly have issues that need to be worked out in therapy (whereas I work out my issues at Disney World). Six more days 'til we leave for our next session!!!!!!:thumbsup2

7 days until we will be soakin up the Florida sun. So excited about staying at the POLY. It has been so cold here. :cool1::cool1::banana::woohoo::yay::yay:

I opened up a fortune cookie last night and fortune inside read 3 days to go!:banana::banana:

 Less than 24 hours!!! :woohoo:

Printed out our boarding passes for JetBlue this morning, now I'm just finishing up the packing, charging all the cameras and trying to get the house in order - this is SO exciting! I haven't been to WDW since 1987, and this is our first ever family vacation with our kids!

You just reminded me, does anyone know how you get your boarding passes for Spirit? I leave in about a week and I still have no idea...

Four more days at home, and then off to beautiful Orlando! I'm getting myself too excited - I think I'm going to cry when I see Mickey for the first time. :lmao:
