*OFFICIAL MARCH 2010 THREAD* - Lets countdown together!

Received our "mickey Mail" today. It was luggage tags and ME documents. Looks like our March 2010 thread is getting busy with preparation. I love to read everyones posts on how they get ready. All I have left now to nail down is a ride to and from the airport and scheduling DD's school conference since we are heading out the week of school conferences, to take advantage of three half days and a day off.

My count down ticker went ka put! Must make a new one.

What the heck is a chacha?
:mickeyjum <---- me.

My niece and I have planned a trip for March 3-11. But, sadly, she has just been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Our family is in shock. She is still undergoing medical tests, but they think it is stage 2. She will probably need chemotherapy. At the oncologists yesterday, he told her she could probably still go to WDW; they could work her treatments around it, so that lifted her spirits a little. So if anyone wants to have a good thought for her, or say a prayer, I would really appreciate it.

OK - only a little stressed about this at the moment. I've been having stomach problems lately, and given that 3 family members had their gall bladders removed last year, we figured that was the likely culprit. I was trying to hold off til after our trip (19 - 27th) but I thought well, I'll go in and get my testing over with then we can do the surgery right after I got back - some time in April.

So I went to the doctor yesterday and he wants to speed things along, and possibly do the surgery before I go!:scared1: I'm not so much worried about the surgery itself, but I worry that I won't have time to build my strength back up before the trip. He said that the surgeon would release me to all activity at 2 weeks out, so that gives us 2 weeks to get this whole thing done before we go. Hoping still that the tests say I can wait til after, but at the same time I don't want to be limited on my foods down there. (That's my favorite part of the trip!)

Wish me luck - I have an ultrasound on Monday morning and then we'll go from there.

Best of luck with that:hug:. If they can do the minimally invasive laproscopic surgery, you should be okay in time for your trip. Be aware that some people have a lot of trouble with fatty foods after having their gall bladder removed. My paraprofessional had hers out several years ago. She still eats what she wants but with some things she makes sure the facilities are nearby afterwards. I hope if you do have to have the surgery pre-vacation that it goes very simply and you have a quick recovery.

Thanks, guys.:goodvibes I really appreciate it. The doctor said if you have to get cancer, this is the type to get. It's highly treatable, I guess. So, IF we still get to go to WDW in just 19 days(!!!), I want to make this the best trip ever!!!

RitaFaye, good luck with your ultrasound on Monday! :flower3:

Positive thoughts and prayers for your niece SkyBluePink :goodvibes

GL to you too RitaFaye :goodvibes

I feel so behind everyone here, I just started making a list of everything we need to bring. Actually three lists: what to bring on the plane, what to pack in the suitcases, and what to bring to the parks. I have no clue if the boys summer stuff still fits and the baby has no summer stuff yet

I need to get movin' !

Hello.

I'm so sorry to hear this news, and I will indeed keep her and your family in my thoughts and prayers, but what I want to be sure and say is that this is the type of cancer that has an EXCELLENT remission rate.

I have a friend who found out she had this same illness at age 29, and it was in stage four already, and it's a year later, and she's in remission already.

It's a long scary road, but stay positive. She'll beat this! Best of luck.

My thoughts, prayers and comfort are with you all. :cheer2:

Hey there, I am a 11 year survivor of Hodgkin's disease. I was stage 2 as well. here is the bad news: it is cancer, here is the good news: it is among the most curable forms of lymphoma there is. A Disney vacation is EXACTLY what she needs, IMHO. PM me if you want to talk more.

I am still confused about this Chacha thing. They're paying you to answer questions about what? An expediter corrects your spelling? What tools do you have to answer questions about what?

As for so many Disney trips. We went in 1990 and then 2000, so there was 10 years with no trips. We then missed 5 years. It wasn't until 2007 when I bought my DVC membership that we went more than once a year. And the 12 months between Nov 07 and Oct 08 when we went 3 times was a dream! Back in Jan 1972, my DH was one of the first guests to stay at the Contemporary. It had just recently opened... then he didn't go again til we took my oldest in 1990!! Talk about missing trips! :upsidedow What's also great about DVC is if you get tired of just visiting Disney :confused3 it trades with RCI, so you could stay at any other RCI resort in the world.

Hi,

What happens is anyone can text any type of questions directions, jokes etc we get a lot of very vulgar ones also. They go to a Expeditor who looks and see's if the questions has already been asked and if it is something they can answer with one of the menu's we have like jokes etc. We make sure the spelling and punctuation is correct and once it is we send it on to a guide who answers it. You have to go to the website and pass some tests etc they used to pay cash which is how I get paid now you work for points that transfers over to cash. The only software you need is their universe that you download. Things are really changing and I have made good money up until recently a lot of bad changes

I hope everything works out for you guys. If she cannot make it in March maybe you can push it back till after she is done with treatment. I'll be keeping your niece in my prayers.

Best of luck and get well soon. You may do better at Disney after your gall bladder is removed. My mom had this surgery. I think that they tell you to avoid greasy foods. I believe your gall bladder makes an enzyme that helps digest greasy foods, so you'll be missing that. Not that there's any greasy food at Disney? ;) Two weeks is plenty of time to get ready anyway. It just takes a few hours to pack. Grab a good guide like the 2010 Unofficial Guide and you're ready to go. I think we didn't even start doing pre-trip planning til 2007. I guess before that, we just winged it!:scared1: I can't imagine that now.

Best of luck to you all and be in good health!
