Official London / Paris / Disneyland Paris Thread

Thrilled you're all only 126 3/4 miles away, by rail... See you Sunday.

Whenever I've come back from Florida it's HELL, there is no other way to describe it!

Don't they live in Brum? I think you might need to get used to being in a SMALL country :rotfl2:

Roy :thumbsup2

We're from Northampton :thumbsup2 Kevin and John did very well staying up, it takes us a week or so to feel back to normal :sad2:

See you on Sunday :cool1::cool1: the hotel is really impressive but if you're approaching by foot it's a little hard to work out where you go in. There is a big archway with the restaurant (Pearl) on the left and the bar on the right, keep walking through the archway and the entrance is on the right hand side :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Glad everyone has arrived safely... Safe travels to those that are yet to come! :goodvibes

Welcome to England! :cloud9:
(I've never had a use for that cloud nine thing before!)

Roy

:cloud9: definately describes the weather today

I feel your pain Kevin. I went to London and had the worst jet lag. I had a huge headache that did not go away for the rest of the day and I was so tired. I just wanted to go the hotel as sleep. But no we had to get on the tour bus. I think I feel asleep halfway through the tour but my sister kept waking me up.

The rest of it was good. Say Hello to the Queen. "Victoria" that is you will be seeing alot of her throughout london. Let us know if you visit the area where "Mary Poppin's" Banks home is based on. We didn't get over there.

We went into the Disnay Store and they have a Disney landmarks walking guide for London which includes Belgravia and Belgrave Square, I will scan it and post a picture :thumbsup2

I have some bad news for you. You ain't seen nuthin' yet! Just wait 'til you get to Versailles. Versailles makes Buckingham Palace look like a little rustic shack. And enough gold and mirrors and crystal chandeliers to make Liberace jealous. :)

But make sure you save up some energy when you get there to explore the gardens, especially if the fountains are running that day. They go on for WAY more the 1/2 a mile, but the trek is worth it IMO. Especially for the fake (actually very Fantasyland, Disney-esque) village Marie Antoinette had constructed so she could play "milkmaid" when she got bored with royal life.

How was Wagamama? Did you have the Chicken Katsu Curry?

Apparently ladies dresses used to have brown hems as they often didn't bother with the restroom at Versailles :scared1:

I get the feeling that they will see the gardens from a distance as the tour is on bikes!

I'll be doing a mini trip report of the time we spent with Pete and Walter, I'll post a link once I start :thumbsup2

Kevin, as boring as it sounds, this does NOT make you even for having to sit through Cowboys and Aliens. John still owes you big!

Checking in to follow along. I have to say your description of Buckingham Palace makes it sound like something I'm OK missing....

I can add it to the long list of things that put London at bottom of my cities to visit list. Perhaps I am just a grumpy celtic national who looks forward to our own history being celebrated :goodvibes

Finally managed to scan the map

Our train was pretty warm too, we couldn't stop yawning. I don't know why they don't have windows that open any more :sad2:

Some Cadburys? :goodvibes

It's a bit better than Cadburys... Slightly more interesting ;)

I hope it will go down well

I totally agree about Versailles one of my most favourite places in the whole wide World! Mmmm Katsu Curry at Wagamama - there really are more reasons to love living in England.

Loving the reports so far from you guys! Can't wait to see you all tomorrow :woohoo:

Hi Folks,

Busy, busy day today.

Started our day with a wonderful buffet breakfast in the hotel. just incredible.

After breakfast we toured London in an antique double decker bus.

We went to Buckingham Palace for photos and then, the bus took us to Harrods, where we had lunch in the Georgian Room.

This was another AMAZING buffet.

After lunch, we were on our own for awhile , so a bunch of us decided to meet at the London Eye and ride as a group......but not before a little retail therapy at Harrods.

Several of our group wr a bit terrified at the thought of the eye, but all 23 of us went......including Pete and I.

We now have aabout 90 minutes before we all meet in the lobby for our nigh at the Lion King and then the backstage tour.

All in all....a wonderful day with bright and sunny weather.

We can't ask for more.

Sounds like an amazing day!! I'm so happy you're sharing your days with us on here!! Continue enjoying your trip!!

That sounds like an absolute dream! Kudos to those of you who were afraid of the London Eye and did it anyway!! :cheer2:
