*****Official (??) June 2014 Thread -- Party Like It's Hot!*****

I had also read that others got in fine that way. Do they now have a way of tracking if you got an invitation? I haven't done it, I'm just trying to figure out if they do care now or if they are just glitchy anyway. Have you seen anything recent on this?

I think they were getting in fine until...now? Today was the first I heard of it.

I had been wondering if I should do this or not. I have the UG on my Kindle and don't know if you get a discount for that or not. But I may as well give it a try. I didn't know they had FP+ picking info. It seems so new and always changing I wonder how accurate it will be. However, on my own I don't know anything anyway so I may as well give it a try.

I always get both for my trips. The book tends to repeat a lot over the years.... but i read tons of it each time. lol. I like their site and app as well. That's just my two pennies.

Also. You give them your name not magic band. Magic bands are used for ordering and paying.

I'm going to keep my eyes open for an invitation. If I do get one, I'll make a FP+ using that and I'll cancel the other one. Want to play it safe!

Thanks for your input. I think I'll do it as soon as I have the time. Better be soon because my FP+ window is coming up.

Becky Johnson, for one. She's in a Facebook group, not sure if she's on the DIS, but she's a Disney Travel Agent. Not only was she turned away, but she's said her clients who got their FP+ without the invitation have been, too.

By all means, set the FP+. All I'm saying is don't be alarmed, upset, or surprised if they tell you that you didn't get it with an invitation, so it's not in the system and it's a no-go. Buyer beware, YMMV, etc.

I saw this on Facebook as well. :worried:

I am going to keep my FP and hope that either 1. I get an invite, and the point is moot, or 2. I will try and use it, but if it doesn't work, to the back of the line we go.:confused3 No worse off than we would have been if we didn't get the FP.

I do hope that it works though!

Only 45 to go for me!

Not only was she turned away, but she's said her clients who got their FP+ without the invitation have been, too. Ah, that explains it. I read on another thread that travel agents are trying to steer people away so that they can say to their clients that they can get them an "exclusive BOG fastpass offer" not available to the general public (which it is for resort guests) BTW I’m not accusing her of anything. Her story did seem kind of fishy though (I read it on the June FB page also) First she said it was her clients then she said she was turned away. Also the magic band theory doesn't ’add up since they use your name not bands.

No personal experience, but I've seen others say take what you need for that first night and morning in a carry-on bag. That way, if you don't have the rest of your luggage quickly, you still have what you need to get you through until you can catch up with your luggage.

Our plane lands a little after 6pm and I asked the same question. After reading various answers I decided the best thing for us would be to pick up our own luggage and take it with us on the Magical Express. I don't think we could pack everything we need for the first night and morning in our carry on with all the liquid restrictions on planes these days.

Thanks to both of you for the response. That was what I was originally thinking, and then started second guessing myself. I don't mind grabbing our luggage ourselves, especially as we aren't going into the parks that night.

44 days and counting. Now what else have I forgotten to do????:hyper:

FP+s have been made!

Our plan only involves one EMH evening and a late-start day in MK and I'm starting to get worried that we won't be able to ride Mine Train. We have a breakfast ADR at Whispering Canyon and I'm starting to wonder if I should suck it up and make it earlier so we have a better chance of getting on if we can't get FP+. Thoughts?

Finally got to make my FP+ reservations yesterday!!! Now I'm hoping that once spring break is over next week that everything will go really fast!

We just booked an unexpected trip today for June 6-12 at POP. Hey, that's only 51 day from now! Better get busy planning.

Wow! Are you able to get the ADR's you want? You can get your FP+ now, too. Have fun!

We won't be getting ADRs so that won't be a problem. FP+ scares me because we don't like to stick to a rigid schedule in the parks. I hope we can still make it work for our touring style. Such a big difference between now and my first trip in 1976. Then, we didn't plan much and just had to figure out how to allot our number of "E" tickets. I will have to check out the FP+ threads to see what advice is available. But what we do need to plan for is what to bring. We'll begin our list of must haves shortly. I've even thought of packing a suitcase of food, snacks etc. to hopefully save a few dollars by eating breakfast in our room. This is a budget minded trip as we weren't planning on going at all this year. We are hoping to keep the in-park food budget to around $500 for our five night stay. This should be doable. We have in the past gotten the DDP but if we cut out dessert with every meal and order water we can certainly save a few bucks. I have found that one advantage to booking semi-last minute is that the countdown period is much shorter. The waiting is always the hardest part of a Disney vacation!
