*****Official (??) June 2014 Thread -- Party Like It's Hot!*****

11 weeks from today I will be packed and ready to hit the airport in the morning...sounds closer than 78 days:)

92 days to go here. So we are watching a Disney movie every night. We have sooo many (yay for DMC) so may have to do 3 or more on the weekends.

Anyway, tonight we are watching The Jungle Book. When Kaa started speaking, DS3 looks over and yells "Pooh Bear!" He's too cute. DD16 hadn't remembered that bit of trivia.

Thinking about making our own Epcot passport. I have the one from our trip in 2010. We didn't fill it, but I don't really want to reuse it. Will probably use the stickers though in a new one.

I used to think the same thing!!! :rotfl2:

ETA I also pictured fair booths for the countries!

Put me in the sphere group. I remember watching it on the Disney channel when we first had the giant dish installed in the backyard....wow! Time sure has gone by. Remember when microwave cooking was new? :lmao:

Oh good! I'm glad I'm not the only one so silly. I blame their tv commercials! ;)

My son was SHOCKED and I mean knock him over shocked :faint: when I told him we didn't have Netflix when I was kid. "How did you watch cartoons?" he ask me.

I think he thinks I am joking when I tell him that we use to have to watch commercials (not skip through them), listen to whatever was on the radio (not use the mp3s) and look out the windows in the car to keep us entertained. ::yes:: Well I used to record songs off the radio at home and play them on a portable tape player in the car while going on vacations.

Oh how the times have changed....

How about having to get up to turn the TV channel! :rotfl2:
Yep! Don't sit too close to the TV- you'll ruin your eyes! :rolleyes2

Smart boy! His voice is very distinctive.
We are right behind you at 95 days!

Just changed reservations to Fort Wilderness cabins from Art of Animation family suite... My mother is Diabetic so we thought the kitchen would be a good idea. This will also give my kids a lot of room to run around. We hope we made the right choice! "There was also a larger discount because Fort Wilderness is considered a Deluxe Resort even though it is less expensive then our Family Suite was at the Value Resort."

Oops, edit, moderate not deluxe

My early June trip is contingent upon my securing a teaching job abroad (and thus quitting my current job at the end of May, and going to WDW in the summer interim before leaving the US).

I won't know for certain until the beginning of April, but I can wait no longer. Have to let my tentative ticker fly. :) If I get that job, WDW will be a very sweet bonus!

I didn't answer these earlier so I thought I would now. :) 93 days!!!

Good luck! How exciting a new job in a new country!

Thank you, DisneyMommy9! I am going slightly crazy as I wait to hear whether I've gotten a Skype interview in the next couple of weeks here, too. I've been working on the application process since October, and I can't wait to know for certain whether I've got the job-- and that I'm indeed going back to WDW, of course!

I live in Alabama, too. :) Gulf Coast here, about a 7 hour drive from WDW.

We stayed at POP in September and I loved it! That's where I've booked for June. I saw the 50s section recommended and requested it, and it was quiet and a reasonable walk from the buses and food court. I hope you have a great time!

I am from a town near Montgomery. We usually stay at POP I just request preferred room! What country will you be moving too?

The discount wasn't huge since ticket prices and dining went up, but we did save about $155 by moving over to CSR. We've stayed there before and we like the moderates so it works for us. :) I took the memory maker off and that brought it down some, too. Last time we were at CSR we stayed in the Ranchos, so I requested a Cabana this time just to have something different.

DH shot down the idea of moving our trip up to June, SO it looks like I will be there in July instead...

We switched resorts too for a higher discount, but we also completely took off dining and we are purchasing Tables in Wonderland (20% discount at all restaurants we booked). We figured we don't eat dessert, and the most expensive meal we are going to purchase is $60, so $60 a day per person was not cost effective. Plus, since we don't need tickets (we have annual passes,) they couldn't fit the meal plan into the discount somehow... I think we need a travel agent next time we book a Disney Vacation. The whole thing is quite confusing.

Montgomery is just about three hours from us. Do you guys drive down or fly? We flew for our trip in 2008 and drove last year. We'll be driving this year because it wasn't too bad! We can leave at 6 AM and arrive around check-in time.

Hopefully, I'll be moving to South Korea to teach with the EPIK program. :)

What do you look forward to most on your next trip? Just being with my guys!

I have already planned the heck out of this trip (down to a probably-way-too-detailed spreadsheet), but the only thing "set in stone" are our offsite hotel reservations and WDW ADRs. I know what flight we'll be taking, just watching the prices. Also still need to purchase all the appropriate tickets, which needs to wait until our taxes come back! Needless to say, all this waiting to finalize details is horrible!! :)

Anyway, so glad I was directed here, I'm excited to "meet" everyone, and look forward to hearing everyone's plans!

I've seen many posts throughout these threads about dealing with the summer heat and humidity. However, I have yet to read anything about insects. Are mosquitos and other insects a problem? Should we bring repellant to apply with the sunscreen? What about insects in your rooms? WDW is surrounded by swamps, I assume insects must be an issue.

You know, I live in central Florida and there are times, I get swarmed with mosquitoes. But I never remember having this experience at WDW! I mean you get a few bites if you're out in the grassy areas or by the water at dusk, but not where they're buzzing incessantly around you.
