*****Official (??) June 2014 Thread -- Party Like It's Hot!*****

Happy Happy Anniversary !!
Thanks!
I use zip ties/cable ties to secure ID tags to my suitcases. I am going to use one on my sling bag too for the ID tag and my little green mickey head (see above). That might help your mickey be more secure. I have seen pretty neon colored zip ties at Dollar Tree.

Oh, that's a good idea! I'll see if I can find some.

We have 4 days left until our trip and I'm getting so excited! I've almost just broken down and revealed it to the kids a dozen times, I know they'd share the excitement, but I'm holding off until it's time. Ordered them each a Mickey and Minnie plush from the disney store website that should be here today. Plan on giving them those with their Magic Bands at the reveal.
Even more exciting, DS turns 2 in 2 days! Besides the headphones we got him for his leappad (which are really for the plane) all of his presents are Disney related. :rotfl2: DD had a display at the library earlier this year of all of her Disney collectibles. We may have an obsession.
I never thought about making it a surprise when my boys were little and I think I would have burst trying! However, when they were teenagers I made up photo scavenger hunts for them. It got them "in the photo" without eye rolling ;) AND they got to win prizes like food and no chores.

I have a DIS tag on my bag. Met a number of DISers on various trips by recognizing their tag/button or them noticing mine, so I say go for it.
I had a friend who did mine last year. She painted wooden door hangers, so mine is wood with several coats of sealant. I met a random DISer last year, on my birthday. Had no idea what to say (and I was getting sick...) But, it was pretty cool to be recognized.
This year, I'm going to have an Alien Green backpack. I'm still thinking of how I want to put my user name on it. I am tempted to take a black Sharpie to it and draw a Mickey head and my user name, but I don't know if I can do it.
I still have mine from my last trip. It is a laminated Green Mickey with my name on it. I pin it to my orange Baggalini. :) I always watch if I see people with Baggalinis because I just sense they are from here. lol
I will be wearing mine on my small brown Large Wallet Baggalini! :rotfl2:
When I was at MK in March I bought a Mickey balloon. It had 2 mickey head weights tied to it and I saved those. I am in the process of painting those now with some lime green nail polish I had lying around. Hopefully it will turn out good.

Well then it's settled. I better get to making a badge! If anyone does see me just shout my Screenname and I'll be more than happy to say hi. :wave2:

Do any of you have trouble getting out of the parks? ....On our 7 night vacation, I think we managed a midday break twice . Read midday as 2 or 3 pm.

Nope. Usually I'm the one they have to make stop for a nap :rotfl:

PS: Happy Anniversary, PinkBudgie!!

I will be wearing mine on my small brown Large Wallet Baggalini! :rotfl2: Last summer it was fastened with a ball chain but that fell off and I lost it. I have the worst time trying to figure out how to attach them! I also try to put one on DH's backpack but it always fall off from all the stuffing it in to small places on the rides.

DH and I are taking this trip for our 25th anniversary, but today is our actual anniversary! Going out to dinner tonight, but nothing fancy since we are doing this big trip and DH still has grades to do.

Happy Anniversary!! :)

Happy anniversary, Pink Budgie! Where will you be going to celebrate your while at Disney?
Well, we didn't pick a fancy dinner anywhere. Neither of us felt like bring "nice" clothes. :lmao: Our first TS will be San Angel Inn so maybe that will be our anniversary meal. I think we will just wear our anniversary pins the whole time. :goodvibes We also are doing Wishes dessert and Keys to the Kingdom Tour, so we have a few special things planned. But really since this is all new to both of us, the whole trip is special!

Happy Anniversary!! :)
Thank you!

Leaving in one week! AGH!

Oh, I found some zip ties (for the LGMH) at Dollar Tree like someone said. No interesting colors though. They just had a pack with white, black, and orange. So I got those.

Thanks!

I tried a practice pack. My 6 pairs shorts and 14 shirts took up half the suitcase!

14 shirts? I guess you probably don't feel like doing laundry but I find it easy to drop a load in the machines and head to the pool, with a quick return to transfer to the drier. The Laundry facilities at POFQ are right next to the pool so it's so easy. :thumbsup2

Or can just buy new shirts. :rotfl2:

I ordered myself a shirt for my birthday two days ago. It's a limited edition, online only, and you have until tomorrow to order it:

Donald Duck 80th tee

Uhm... Yeah... I probably don't need that many. I can't decide which ones will feel good in the heat and humidity and which ones I won't like. It's hard to fly. I'm used to driving to DLR and bringing lots of choices to fit my mood. We are there for two weeks but we have two off park days built in so there should be plenty of time for laundry. I just can't decide which ones I want.

Ok, I like that idea! I can always buy a new shirt if I "really" had to. That's a nice Donald tee. That reminds me. I was able to get a free 7DMT pin through Disney Movie Rewards! I figure since we will be there in it's opening summer, it would be a nice souvenir. And I didn't have to work like I normally do when DMR releases special items. I got on and just kept clicking until it went through. :thumbsup2

I've been busy re-doing my FPs because of the new tier changes. I've been sitting at my computer too much lately. I'm used to running around with children.

So excited I got my pink magic band. I finally feel like this trip that I've been planning for over a year is finally going to happen. These next few weeks are going to be brutal waiting...

I got pink too. Are you going to decorate it? If so, be sure to show us. :goodvibes

Almost one week here! I'm getting super excited and anxious. We still don't know DSis' schedule for next week and may not know closer to Sunday.

BUT the hairclips I ordered off Etsy arrived today! Lets see if I can get this to work... I only tried one of the bobby pins with the hairtie but it came with a set of three pins.

Well, dangit. Isn't there a way to insert a photo just from your computer and not from photobucket? I keep looking up the FAQ help but can't find the gosh darn 'attachment' buttons they're talking about. :confused3

We got back last night and I thought I would add a few notes. I posted once early in our trip, but the wifi in our CBR room was not great so I didn't try to come back here. Usually I could get to my email and open one before it would just quit on me. Wifi in the parks seemed to work anytime we needed it.

Sunday we got to MK early to rope drop Mine Train. We stood at the rope on the left and were right at the front of it as the CM's led us down. However, when we got there, there was already quite a line up. I'm not sure if the group that lined up on the right got there any faster or if they were breakfast folks or if there is a place you should cut away from the group- I think Josh at easyWDW had a picture stating you should turn off before the castle and go by the teacups but I didn't see that beforehand. (Speaking of whom, I think I saw him at the tapstyles super early with us, but I need to find a pic of him to confirm.) The ride wasn't up right away and they were telling everyone that once we got in line (everyone was lined up outside of the queue) but we stayed put and it was only a couple of minutes before it started. We still had a 30 minute wait going straight there at RD.

We generally got 4-5 FP each day. I had our third ones scheduled for early afternoon. We took breaks in the afternoons, so that affected our ability to get more than 4-5. We got Pirates, Peter Pan, RnRC, Everest, and Soarin'. Everest FP are plentiful, but Kali was always gone. I was fine with FP+ as it was convenient to have 3 already without having to go to those rides to get them, and the availability of additional FP was probably pretty similar to FP-. In almost every case, a CM was there to push the buttons for you. I only got to do it myself once at AK.

Single rider line rocked for us. We hadn't used it at WDW before, but used it several times at DL for Radiator Springs, so my girls were good with it. This allowed us lots of rides on RnRC, Everest, and Test Track. It was kind of fun to get back together after and talk about who we ended up with- if they talked to us, if they were scared, etc. Loved single rider.

I had two Epcot days planned, because in the past that has been our 2nd favorite. However, we got on Test Track so many times our first day, and Soarin' twice, that DD15 requested we go to AK again instead. We had a lot of fun on Everest and Kali on our first AK day. So the night before, I went to the concierge desk and had them check on available FP. Maybe I could have done it in MDE, but with the wifi being as it was at CBR, I didn't get far. Concierge told me the choices available. Safari, Kali, and Everest were all available, so we made the switch. Definitely head for Kali in the last hour before closing as the lines go way down.

Well today was supposed to be the beginning of my packing but I have yet to start. Last day of school was yesterday and this was my only day to be at home without the kids and get some things done. I was successful at getting the lawn mowed (which wasn't fun with dilated eyes from an earlier appointment) but it's going to storm tonight and the next two days so it had to be done before we leave. Now for the bad news...my DH found out this morning that he has STREP THROAT! He should be fine by the time we leave but now I'm afraid that he may give it to me or the boys. YIKES! He's being quarantined tonight for sure! Wish us luck.

We are back from our first trip to WDW. My daughters proclaimed the trip our best family vacation ever and we have done some extensive traveling. We will definitely be back! Thanks to these boards we felt like WDW vets with all of the tips and tricks learned from fellow DISsers.

We were there from June 3 - 10 and the disney magic started right away. We booked a pool view room at AKL and we were upgraded to a savannah view at check in!

The crowds were very manageable the first few days but we felt the crowds grow starting Saturday, June 7. Monday and Tuesday were very busy. We followed the park recommendations from Josh at Easywdw and he didn't steer us wrong. Even as the parks became more crowded, we managed to get all of our must dos done multiple times throughout the trip.

We made rope drop everyday and we were able to get tons done in each park by 1100 each day. We would then have lunch, head back to the hotel for a swim and naps and then back to the parks for dinner and evening entertainment. I booked all my fastpass reservations for the evenings and had second guessed that decision after the news about the ability to book a 4th FP+ came down. I'm glad I kept things as is because we really didn't need FP+ at all at rope drop.

The weather was wonderful to us and we had no for our first 4 days. Even the heat wasn't that bad until our last few days.

It is so hard being back to work today. I hope the rest of our fellow June travelers have wonderful trips!

I had strep on a vacation once. I went in and got antibiotics, then a week later was worse (and that's when we were on vacation!) We were at the beach, and a lot of the doctor's offices there don't take insurance -- pay the full $150 up front, and we'll file and let you know if your insurance was accepted. I'd be looking down the throat periodically and making sure those white pockets go away...otherwise, haul him back to the dr before you go! (There is a doctor you can go to while at Disney that does take insurance. Awful long wait, but I got sick last year on my birthday and spent DD's bday morning at the doctor. Sent her and my Mom off to MK so they could maximize their fun.)

I believe the only way is use something like photobucket.

Thanks for reporting back! I heard somewhere that single rider for a particular line could be worse than stand by. But I can't remember what ride it was. RnRc? Did you find that to be the case for any? I imagine TT would be the easiest since it is like RSR at DCA with 6 seats per car. We always get on quickly with single rider there.
I also hope we have better luck with wifi at POFQ!

Oh no! I've had that before and it is miserable but much better once on antibiotics for a day. Hope everyone else stays healthy!

Sounds like fun! We are close to leaving on our first trip to WDW.

Was just reading the article here about the top 10 things you should take with you in the parks. #1 on the list is to carry ID. Just thought I'd throw that up here. Heard someone before complain because they didn't bring ID, then got carded for alcohol. Guess what they couldn't get? Must say that I've never been carded (and I've been accused of being the daughter of my sister-in-law, who is 10 years younger than me), but, just in case. I also carry my insurance card with me, just because you never know what could happen.

To kill time until our trip (3 days!) I was surfing the Dis and found this super cool thread by a lady who won a sweepstakes that included a night at Cinderella's Suite!

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3281918

She's only posted the first half of that day, but she did post the first few days of her trip and what it was like having a VIP guide with her the whole time. I think I would be sad if I had to go the back way into everything (I love the atmosphere!) but I'd give it up to stay in the castle! :cool1:
