***Official June, 2012! Hot, hot, hot!!!***

Don't even say that. The oldest will be a Freshman next year and I am just not ready for it. My fil is ex-Navy, the bil and sil are both ex-Army. The bil is trying to talk him out of going into any military branch. He didn't have a good experience in the Army. I don't know if it was b/c of his job, but he was a MP.

Haha, I understand you not being ready for it!! My son just turned 6 and I wasn't ready for that, so I can only imagine how you feel! :) That's true about your bil's expieriance may be becuase of his job. When I was in the navy we would say "choose your rate, choose your fate" meaning what job you have has a BIG impact on your life in the military. I have a lot of respect for what the MP's do, and I'm sure it's not an easy job! It also varies a lot depending on the service that you choose. I was Navy, my husband is Army, and we've both worked and lived on joint posts where we worked with Air Force and Marines.

Like I said before, the service is not for everyone, but it has been good to us. At least you have a few ;) more years to work it out with your sons and what they wanna do!!

Well and he was a MP that had top security clearance. His first post was Korea, so I think that was a lot of the problem. He did get the chance though to guard Airfoce One when President Bush took a visit to his ranch in TX. He has this packet with stuff they gave him off of Airforce One.

If that's what they both want to do, I am totally fine with it. My mil isn't so much. My only rule for them doing it, is they have to talk to someone that was actually in the force they want to go into, and not a gung-ho recruiter.

So I have a new WDW question. Do many of you wear watches while in the park? I am afraid that between using it for wait time apps, keeping track of ADR, and using park maps that checking time on my iPhone will add to draining the battery. I was thinking about taking my Mickey Mouse watch, but after wearing it the other day when I went to work with the DH, I already started getting a tan line around it. It's a pretty chunky watch and looks like:
zzmmwatch.jpg

I love that it lights up, so I will still be able to read it when it gets dark. I jus don't know if it'll be worth it wearing it or not.

I love all my Disney watches but unfortunately can't wear them when we travel in the summer months. The humidity in Florida in the summer makes me sweat places i didn't know i could sweat

I like that watch, but I see what you're saying about the tan line!! K-mart sells some cheaper disney watches and jewlery and it goes on sale every now and then. I got a thinner mickey watch, the one where his hands point to the time, and I like that a lot. It's nothing fancy, but it's my bit of daily disney :) Maybe that's something you could look into, then you could strap it on your backpack or bag since it's not something expensive. Just a thought!

I'm sorry, i mean no disrespect, and I really debated about posting this, but it was just nagging at me, so I decided to post and get it off my chest.

I find it sad that you would not encourage anyone to join the service. I know it is not a life for everyone, but it must be doing you and your husband some good, or he would still not be in.

I feel as though people (not you specificly) in general feel like the military is for those who have no other options. I can tell you from expieriance this is not true. There are those who join becuase they would be deadbeats otherwise, but there are those who do it because they feel a dedication to their country, yearn for a sense of purpose, genuinely enjoy the job. It becomes so much more than a uniform and a paycheck.

Like I said before, I know it's not for everyone, and I appreciate that your husband is doing his duty in the reserves. I hope I haven't offended, but I've said my piece and now I will get off my soapbox.

I'm not sure how to reply. I don't think I necessarily meant it the way you took it. I know they are taking less and less soldiers with them new restructuring program and that's why I wouldn't necessarily encourage it. I think it's an honor and a privledge for a young man or woman to serve, but things are rapidly changing already.

Of course, it does DH and I alot of good and I am very proud of him, and he, by no means, has the stress on him that an Active Duty soldier has on them. I have alot of respect for anyone serving that is doing it for more than just a paycheck. They are starting to crack down on those that are in for just a paycheck.

I grew up around the Army and knew that I would marry a soldier. I grew up with alot of respect for those that serve. I'm not offended, I guess I whould have gone into more detail when I posted.

It's all good, I know sometimes I get a bit defensive over it :flower3: Like you said, with all the changes and cutbacks it should be interesting how the next couple of years go. We've only got 8 more left, haha!! Sorry to get the thread off of all the feel-good-disney-ness :)

On another note, I still have not recieved my Mickey Mail so I called yesterday and they said that it was mailed on the 5th of may...I think if I don't get it by the end of the week I will ask them to resend it. I asked the CM what I should do, and he said if I don't get it before 2 days before I leave then it will be too late...I was kinda like "well, yeah, obviously". So we'll just wait until saturday, and if no mm arrives, then I will call again and talk to another CM. Keeping my fingers crossed....

I just wear my regular Mickey watch. I feel naked without a watch, I wear mine everywhere. I've never noticed any tan lines, but my watch is loose. I have this one (if you can see the picture).

I understand. DH will have 10 years in July, dependant upon passing his PT test. He's just not happy with his unit, I told him to pass the PT test and he can look around and possibly reclass.

They mailed it out on May 5th, they could have walked it to you by now. They were supposed to e-mail me a confirmation last week and I haven't received it, but they have assured me that our reservation is in the system, the CM was surprised when I said I couldn't see it on the website. I guess I won't be doing online check in, I guess that's okay.

LOL Walked it to me, hahah!! :lmao::rotfl2: Isn't that the truth?? I have heard multiple people having problems with their mm being sent on time. I wonder what's up...Like I said, I'll give it till the end of the week, then I'm calling again...we shall see.

I feel your pain! I haven't gotten my MM yet either  And I have also heard of a lot of people the last few weeks not getting their MM or getting it really last minute. My MM from my April trip was fine.

Have you called Disney about your mail?? If so, what did they say?? If not, you may want to give that a try. They can look up when/if it was sent out.

:hourglass

Ok now I think its getting crazy, not only are they getting sent out at weird times but nobody is receiving them either? There must be some glitch in the system and they arent really getting sent. I cant imagine that everybody has my mail carrier (who truly does mess up the mail on a daily basis ). I would assume its a lost cause and get them to resend it now. I think the 5th is a far stretch to think its still coming.

One other idea...you can also call ME directly and ask them to mail the luggage tags (their yellow ones) to you. I may do that if I again dont get mine by the end of the week. I had to have them fix mine last year and they were really quick about getting them to me.

BTW Go Army...woo woo 10 years as a Medic  I got out though, but now wish I would have stayed in.

I'm supposed to call back at the end of this week if I haven't gotten it. :sad2: Hopefully even if that happens then they still will have time to send it all to me at 2 weeks out!

Ok please tell me Im not the only one here. I feel a little depressed that our vacation is so soon...that means that this time next month we will be leaving the world. No more planning, no more looking forward to things, just depression and culture shock of coming back. Sigh. I guess theyre right, some of us are just never happy lol.

I get that way, then come home and plan another trip. Always having another trip, of any kind really, makes me feel better, but I love knowing we are going back to WDW.

I hear ya, I'm kinda bummed there isn't more to do. We are talking about planning another trip in February (we are also going in September), but I don't think we will have our credit cards paid off by then. I told my husband we should probably wait until September and see where we stand then. I wish Disney would open up the online reservations for 2013, that way I can at least play around with numbers and dream....:cloud9:

Grrr. Just called Disney about my MM and got a less than helpful CM who then argued with me....She told me not to worry, that I would be recieving my mail that was sent on the 5th. I told her I have spoke to several others who have been having trouble recieving their mailings and she asured me it would be here. I don't feel any better about it.... *sigh* :sad2:

Yeah congrats on the first trip! :cool1: Any special celebrations or events planned?

Nothing special. Me and the family are a little Disney desensatized because we go to disneyland so much here in so. cal. At least 2x a month. I live 15min away. Not sure what to expect at disneyworld. We are excited to go. Planning disneyworld is 100x more difficult then disneyland. I cannot believe how much planning is need for this trip and I just booked it last month. Its more then just an amusement park from my take so far. Its about the hotel, the dining, the shows, water park, pools etc etc. So it can get a little overwhelming. No special event just a family vacation.

No MM here either! :confused3 Said I should have it in the next couple of days... Alrighty then!:scared:

I don't feel so bad about not having mine yet since you are going 6 days before me and still don't have yours!

What is going on with all our MM?!? I want my new luggage tags

To keep us distracted, I have a question. Have they gotten new resort mugs yet or are they still the same as last year/earlier this year?
