***Official June, 2012! Hot, hot, hot!!!***

Dang it.....bug spray.....didn't think of that. Thanks

Ok, super odd question, but I truly have no clue. Can you put both sunblock and bug spray on and them both stay active?

You know, I have no idea. I have never used bug spray at WDW, but will this time, but I put that on my legs where I get bitten the worst and sunscreen on my arms, neck, and especially my face where I tend to burn the most.

I would put on the sunscreen, then the bug spray.

I figured that, my son being a New Englander just doesn't feel the heat...

Lots of water needed too...

You know, this week has really only been mid 80's but it still feels miserable. It has been in the upper 90's and headed back that way.

I did forget to mention the water, that is very important, you can dehydrate quicker than you can imagine.

I'm worried how my in-laws are going to handle it, they live in California and say they it a dry heat, I still haven't figured out what that is :confused3

I contemplated taking a hat, but that would make my head hot, which makes me even hotter, no thank you!!!

As a Californian I can answer this! "dry heat" refers to no to low humidity heat. Like Vegas, although it's 110 degrees there is no humidity so it's more comfortable than say, Houston at 95 degrees and 100% humidity.

Suzanne - That's great about getting me added to the reservation for the 8th! You are wonderful!

Hi fellow June DISers! We are going to be at the CR from 6/9 - 6/15. We usually go in early September for FD so travelling in June is new to us. I just hope that it will not be as warm as late August/ early September.

Only 23 more days to go! :yay:

I know what it means, but knowing how it actually feels has got to be completely different. I never been anywhere other than the hot, sticky, humid south

I know, I am sooo excited!!! 20 days!!!

We bought the sunblock hats with a Disney logo at AK a couple of years ago and we find that they actually make our heads feel cooler. We,ll be there one week from today at POFQ pre cruise and then 6/2-6/9 at BLT post cruise. Can hardly wait.:cheer2:

Sounds like a plan. I"ll have to do it hat way. I just have to find some that doesn't stink to high Heavens.

Yep, you are right. That's why I bought the water bottles. I plan on keeping them full at all times. I'm worried about getting dehydrated.

This made me think of my DH. He lived in Pheonix, AZ for a while. When talking about the difference between dry heat and humid heat he has the funniest way of explaining it. He said that with a humid heat, if you are driving in a car, you roll the windows down, and stick your head out, it feels cooler. Like sticking your head in front of an AC. If you do that with a dry heat, it's like sticking your head in an oven.

I've had the same thought. I might, but I don't think I'll really wear it. I'm just afraid that I'll end up with super sweaty hair.

I actually got my DH to talk about the trip. We were sitting in the surgery waiting room, so he couldn't get away from me. His dad had has his spinal surgery this morning. My DH's cousin is going to be home, so we are going to stop by his house on the way to WDW. We'll get there by way of Tennessee b/c I want to add that state to my "been to" states list. I'm the only one in our family of 4 that hasn't been in that state. Then I'm trying to convince the DH to drive from their house (Winfield, AL) through GA to get to WDW, so I can add that state to the list as well.

My head and hair are too big for a hat:lmao: Visior and shades. :cool2:

That's too cool that your son works there!! Maybe I'll make mine do that when they are old enough (haha they are 4 and 5!). come on discounts!!

I am also going in June and September!! I had booked the September trip first. I am going with my kids and husband and my sister's family, but my other sister couldn't come because she would be missing the beginning of school and it's her first year of highschool. So...since I couldn't wait for September, I planned a mini trip with my little sister and I to go in June!

I am getting too excited!! I need my mickey mail to get here and I should probaby start looking for travel items to keep me occupied :)

JavArmy,

My son has always been in love with Disney. Ssince the first time he went at 4, he was hooked. I am going in September with my firend who has never been. We are doing free dining so it's actually less than employee discount when you price it out.

Have fun with the little ones! love seeing the under 10 kids there...

Avon has some 30SPF suntan lotion that has bug repellant in it. I bought some just for when we visit family since they all live in the country so I haven't gotten to try it out.

I bought some bug spray with a flowery smell, supposedly, but it still smells funky.

We will take bottles of water and gateorade (I have to drink some of that when I'm out or I feel more dehydrated. We will also ask for a cup of ice water at the CS restaurants, it's free, why not, and since it comes out of the soda machine, it doesn't have that icky taste everyone talks about (I personally have never had a problem with FL water). I can't drink out of a metal bottle, it gets that metal taste and I can't stand that.

If you don't care for water much, try adding that new Mio water enhancer, it is really good without adding the sugar you get from those little flavor sticks.

My husband's father lives in AZ now and his mother lives in California, but they're moving to TX in July. I think I would have to feel a dry heat, before it really makes sense to me. I think I'll just ride with the windows up and the ac on...LOL

I sweat in my head relly bad, I know the hat will make that worse. I do wear a hat at the races, because I'm sitting in the same place for about 5 hours, but I will be moving around alot more at WDW.

I would much rather go to WDW thru GA, that drive thru AL is horrible and very long.

DH leaves in the morning for 2 weeks, I hope it goes by quickly. I'm hoping my cousin will let me work at her tanning salon and make some extra money. My vacation starts 2 weeks from today.
