***Official June, 2012! Hot, hot, hot!!!***

Just had to share I had posted before my oldest DD is making me a first time grandma in Oct. She had her second ultrasound and just found out it's a girl :cloud9:

So excited can't wait to shop at Disney for our new little princess :goodvibes

That's so exciting! Another reason to celebrate at Disney ::yes::

Hi all,

Just wanted to update all who have been wondering about my surgery yesterday. It went very well and I was released in the afternoon. My surgeon did a disk replacement of my C5-C6 which had been causing neck and shoulder pain and especially numbness in my right thumb.

I now have a large bandage on my neck, a soft collar on top and a very sore throat but the good part is that I get to eat all the ice cream, tapioca pudding and soups I want!

Kathy

I kept you in my prayers and so happy to hear you're doing well! Have a speedy recovery! :goodvibes:flower3:

CONGRATULATIONS!! How exciting for you all!

Congrats to your family on the upcoming little princess!! Hopefully, it'll be a minimum of 10 years before I become a grandmother.

I hope everyone's day has been as good as mine. Well as good as mine is going until the DH gets home and finds out how much money I spent today. :lmao: I took the minivan to get the brakes checked and they were good. WOO HOO!!! It did need a brake fluid and power steering flush and an oil change though. Then I went to Wal Mart and that's where the spending got out of control. I bought each DS 3 new pair of blue jean shorts and a few tops. Then I got all new beach towels, the DS travel pillows, the movie Thor, Jolly Ranchers, M&M's, Clariton. I ended up with almost $400 worth of stuff. Looks like there goes the Carbon thingies I wanted to do.
ETA: I totally forgot about the bathroom Mickey stuff I bought at Wal Mart. I got a MH bath rug, a Mickey shower curtain, and MH the thingies to hold the shower curtain up.

Ooh, Walmart and Target are very dangerous for me! :scared1: I have been trying to stay away so that we actually have money for the trip! It's so hard though when you keep thinking of things you need to bring and you don't have them!!

I truly can't believe we are only 27 days out!!! I feel very overwhelmed and underplanned!

I am also very underplanned and anxious!!! I feel like I have so much to do but not sure what?!?!?! :lmao::confused3

What a great group of June DISsers!

Thank you for all your well-wishes and prayers, Suzanne! I am also really getting excited about our breakfast together in June! It should be such fun and be the highlight of my departure day!

Salann - I am so enjoying that ice cream! After dieting for months ice cream tastes like ambrosia and it makes my rough throat feel great.

letthewookiein - We've visited Cocoa Beach and loved it and I'll have to go check out the Carbon Freezing thing; sounds interesting! And I love your trip preparations! I agree about shopping being the best part about getting ready; there's something so perfect about buying and placing those new items in your suitcase for your trip!

wdwnut61 - Thank you also for your kind thoughts and prayers! I'm sure one reason I'm recovering so quickly is due to having all the power of DIS behind me! And congratulations on your future granddaughter! What fun ahead for you and your family!

cass'mom - You are also so kind to include me in your prayers! They have worked!

And yes, the days are truly slipping by quickly!

I see we have added someone going on their first trip! Welcome Scoobas Wife's and your family! How exciting!!!

Congrats!! Disney is also coming out with new baby stuff that is super cute! I saw some cute onsies at Target with Disney characters on it. Gotta get them started early!!:rotfl:

Thank you and thanks for the tip about the baby clothes :thumbsup2
You are so right about starting them early :rotfl2:

Congratulations

Thanks so much :goodvibes

I took a clothes basket and put all of the stuff for our trip in it. I plan on washing all of the clothes and towels, the week we leave.

Thank you :goodvibes I found out they were expecting on my 51 birthday in January. Best birthday present ever :cloud9:

Sounds like you got some great stuff. I love Walmart but they make it way too easy to spend that money :rotfl2:

Thank you. I'm so glad we found out before our trip. I plan to do some serious damage I mean shopping during our 11 days :thumbsup2

DH and I are over the moon :cloud9:
I can't stop smiling between Disney and our new little princess on the way my cheeks are starting to hurt :rotfl:

Ooh, Walmart and Target are very dangerous for me! :scared1: I have been trying to stay away so that we actually have money for the trip! It's so hard though when you keep thinking of things you need to bring and you don't have them!!

I thought I had pretty much got everything that I would need to buy, but I got home and realized that I hadn't. I forgot to get myself a box of contacts at the vision center. I forgot to get another bra or two for me, and I forgot to get the oldest DS a couple of basketball type short. Then my DH needs another pair of shorts, and I need to get him a seatbelt extender for our minivan so he can drive. I called them yesterday and was told someone would call me back, but they never did.

It's a good thing I don't have a Target close, or it would have been much worse.:lmao:

I truly can't believe we are only 27 days out!!! I feel very overwhelmed and underplanned!

We leave in 22 days and I feel the same way. If you would ask the DH is would tell you that this trip is overplanned. When I talked to him about the trip he says, "Now what time do you have potty breaks scheduled for that day?":headache: The only thing I have planned are our lunches, dinners, and what parks on what days. It's not that much.

I am very excited about the Cocoa Beach part of the trip!!! We have a hotel on the beach and an oceanfront room. Originally, the plan was to head to Cocoa Beach on the day we check out of WDW. Spend that day on the beach. Then get up the next day, check out, check into a cheaper hotel, go to Kennedy Space Center, go back to cheap hotel, get up the next morning and head home. Now we will spend two night at Cocoa Beach instead. That way when we check out of that hotel, we'll be on the road home. I just keep looking at my clothes basket of trip goodies and can't wait to get it all packed into the minivan.

Sounds like you got some great stuff. I love Walmart but they make it way too easy to spend that money :rotfl2:

I agree, they do. I thought I might have some where in the $200 range, but when it got to $360 and I needed to get $40 to pay for a bill, I almost passed out.

We went to cocoa beach for only one day last time we went and loved it. We rented a car, left the resort in the morning, and returned to our disney resort at night. We went to the beach for a couple hours then went on a little boat tour where we went and saw dolphins and manatees. It was super fun and we stayed fairly close to the shore. Hope you have a fun time!

I absolutely loathe Walmart, so I stay as far away as possible. I do love Target, but try to stay away as much as possible. I'm too much of a bargain hunter to pay full price for anything at either place, especially when it comes to clothes for DH or my sousin's children. I did let DH get a Darth Vader T-shirt at Target the other day, It says "Who's your Daddy"

I don't do much in the way of park planning either, we do have some ADR's and we might stay at Epcot the whole day on our arrival day, but we are going to BB one morning and will probably go to DHS that evening to see Fantasmic, on Friday, we may hang out at MK for awhile after breakfast, but will likely hop over to DHS for some SWW stuff, DTD for dinner and back to MK for EEMH. Saturday is half day at DS before we head home. I am too ADHD to stay in one park all day, when we decide we're bored, we go somewhere else.

Try an afternoon in a pontoon boat on Bay Lake between GF or Poly and Ft. Wilderness, it's so much fun and you can get some great pictures.

I am also very underplanned and anxious!!! I feel like I have so much to do but not sure what?!?!?! :lmao::confused3

I feel like I have ADHD. I start figuring out a plan and then never complete the plan and have moved onto something else! I then freak out because I essentially wasted all this time and accomplished nothing! :lmao:

I thought I bought all the toiletries when I went to Walmart the other day only to discover I had forgotten sunscreen and aloe (and probably more but my memory is shot!)! DUH! Two biggies! So I am with you! And trust me, I am much worse because the Target is around the corner from the Walmart!! I think there needs to be an AA for Target addiction! :rotfl2:

My DH too! He says I'm obsessed even though I told him I've hardly planned anything this time! He won't even talk about it so I can't really discuss anything Disney with him. He likes it a lot once we're there, but despises talking, planning, etc. Thank God for the DIS! :thumbsup2

I y'all had a good day. I'm still in the dog house with the DH for spending so much money yesterday. He told me that I couldn't spend another penny for anything for the trip. :lmao: He's a silly man. Actually, I bought something this afternoon for our trip. I may have to do laundry while we're gone. I didn't want to have to buy detergent on the trip. When I had to go get John some more fruit snacks for school, I bought some of the little Pod laundry detergent. That way I don't have to measure anything. Hopefully, it won't take long to do a load. I have never done laundry on a vacation before. My DH thinks that I would actually put it in a machine and then walk away while it's washing or drying. He's crazy if he thinks that.

We did laundry at beach club last year. We left and came back before the cycles were done. The laundry was at the quiet pool so it was nice around there.

Just be sure to be back when the cycle is done so no one moves your cloths from the machines because they are waiting for it. We will be at Bonnet Creek this year with in room washer/ dryer:cloud9:

Saving $$$ for pre trip items is part of the vacation fund IMO.:rolleyes1

Debating on if we will go to SWW on Saturday once we arrive that morning at Disney or if we want to make a whole day of the event on Sunday when we are refreshed. Nothing in particular we have to do, just would like to get pics and autographs for my son since theres obviously more everywhere else for my daughter.

Still no mickey mail at 28 days :(

Ok...so advice needed-we have kept this trip a secret for a couple months and planned on telling the kids the night before we leave (they will be at the grandparents for the two weeks prior to Disney and pick them up the night before we fly). However last night my sweet sister in law who really didnt know it was a secret talked to the kids and told them!!! So my daughter asked if we were going to surprise them with a trip! I told her no and that they had said they wanted to stay at grandmas this summer so she was like oh ok and that was the end of it. Do we still try to surprise them-even if they thought they were going they dont know when? Or do I just give up and tell them? Bah I was so frustrated, but she was so innocent about telling them (she lives in Morocco and doesnt get to talk to them much).

I washed clothes last year at POP, the kids went down to swim and I sat outside and hung out and watched them while the laundry was going. It is great that they put the laundry right next to the pools. Then I stepped back in and changed them out. It was busy but of course by the time I finished my clothes so did everybody else and then it was empty:headache:

No one seemed to bother anybodies stuff and since I was just outside I wasn't worried. However, I wouldnt leave my clothes and go to the parks, maybe grab some dinner, but doubtful at that either.

You already told her no, and she didn't push you, so continue on with the surprise is my advice!

party:

We are paid in full for room and dining. We have the military salute deal for the room and they let me add dining at full price. Our 45 day mark was Monday. I paid the balance online at 10:45 that night.

So glad to have that done. I still have to get the tickets, but having that package paid was a big load off. We had some unexpected medical bills that delayed me paying it off when I originally planned, but I still made it by the 45 day mark. Thankfully I had purchased our plane tickets months ago. I have the ticket and spending money budgeted.

We are excited. Well dd and I are excited. Ds is totally oblivious at 2. But he will know something is up when he sees suitcases come out of the closet. Last couple of times he has seen me pack, he gets a bit clingy. I guess we have been on enough trips that he knows what suitcases mean. We are still quite a ways from that step. I’m making t-shirts this month. I hope to get them done over the next two weekends so I can relax Memorial Day weekend.

I must say I’m really proud of dd. She has known about this trip the entire 8 months I have been planning it and has been very relaxed about asking how many days are left. I think it helps that she knew it wasn’t happening until well after school was over. Since she (just like every other child) knows the date of the last day of school as well as her birthday, she didn’t ask as much. Actually lately, it’s been me. Big deadline approaching here at work and I’ve been working 12 and 14 hour days for almost a month. We got out of the van at home a couple of days ago and I looked at her and said, “How much longer until vacation?” She calmly said, “It’s next month.”

Well, at least we are almost half way through May.
