So... I've always been a lurker to the boards, but just joined today.:cheer2:

We went to Disney last June 28-July 3, 2006, and because of my great planning, we never stood in a line longer than 30-minutes- great considering the time of the year... But, it was HOT! Boy was it hot. We brought our mini fans that we purchased at Wal-Mart for $0.97. Let me tell you... they worked just as good as the $17.99 ones in Disney!
:sunny: :sunny: :sunny:
We had just so much fun that we'll be going back this year-- June 20-25. We've already made our ADRs... 50's Prime Time, Le Cellier, Coral Reef, Raglan Road (at Pleasure Island). I am counting down the days until we leave! Other than the roller coasters, eating is my favorite part of Disney!

Any of you planning to be there at the same time?

Yes!! Just made our reservations yesterday! June 22-30 at the Dolphin!!
woo hoo!
We shared one of those spray bottles last year - this time - we're bringing THREE! It was hot last year - and no rain!
Can't wait!!!
:cool1:

Yay SingingMom! We'll be overlapping a few days!

Have you planned out which days for which parks? Our trip looks like this:
June 20th- MGM- Dinner 50's PTCafe
21st- Magic Kingdom- End w/ Dinner at Epcot (Coral Reef)
22nd- Epcot- Dinner LeCellier
23rd- Animal Kingdom Day- Pleasure Island Night- Raglan Road Dinner
24th- Magic Kingdom- End with Dinner at MGM (50's PT again)
25th- Open day to repeat our favorites- Leave at 6:30 pm

Haven't made any plans yet! :goodvibes Last year, I purchased the "Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World" and started hyperventilating half way through it!! I am DEFINITELY a "planner", but some of that stuff was WAY over the top for me... My husband refused to let me make dinner reservations four months in advance! tee hee .... We didn't want the pressure of having to be somewhere if we were having a good time doing something else! We hadn't been to WDW in 10 years, when our daughter was 3... going back with a 13 year old was very different - she wanted to do EVERYTHING!! :earsboy:

Surprisingly, we had no trouble making dinner reservations a day or two out - we had dinner in France (MY favorite), Mexico, the Boardwalk, and Don Shula's Steakhouse. The other dinners we decided right at the time, and never really ran into trouble. Of course, we were only a party of 3 - I can see making all those advanced reservations with a larger party.

This trip we are only doing our "favorites" - and at a more leisurely pace. I don't know that we'll do Animal Kingdom at all, but most likely two visits to the water parks this time around! France for dinner is a must, and this time we want to try Rose & Crown. I didn't necessarily think I wanted to go back this soon, but now that the reservations are made - I can't wait!!
:cool1:

Yes, I'm definately a "planner"!!!! So, agendas don't bother me :rolleyes1

With it just being DH and I, we pretty much know exactly what we'll be doing anyway --- we love the same things and are on the same pace, so we still feel "free" even when we have the agenda. :thumbsup2

And because it's June, it was best to make our dining ressies early. Especially b/c we are on the dining plan. We want to make sure we can use all of those TS meals at our favorite places. We were there last June and I can't tell you how many times other people were turned away because they had no availability. :confused3

I'm counting down the days! Aren't you getting so excited????!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

that's interesting, because we weren't turned away in June, but I will admit we did make most reservations a day or two out.... I just can't convince my husband that I should make anything before we leave! oh well! lol
My daughter really wants to eat at Rose & Crown for "REAL fish & chips", so maybe I'll see about making those reservations ahead of time! And we want to return to Chefs de France. Did you enjoy eating in Canada? We didn't try that yet.
Right now, I'm trying to check daily with JetBlue to get a better flight rate! It seems a little high right now at $1057 for the three of us. :confused3

And, yes, I'm getting very excited! what a kid! lol
:dance3:

I would say if it's very important that you eat at a certain place, then book the ressie. If it's not as important, then I'm sure you'll get in somewhere. We actually booked San Angel Inn in Mexico the day before when we were there in June and it was fine.

Canada--- YES!!!! You have to eat at Le Cellier... It's amazing! You will love it.... It was one of the very best meals we had in WDW. The steaks and the cheese soup are awesome!!!!

Ok, you have me convinced! ;)
I think we'll try to make ressies for the day we arrive... maybe we'll see you there!

:dance3:

Wahoo!!!! Yes, you need to go the day you get there! Our ADR are for 6:30 pm.... Let me know if you decide to book it:cool1:

Well, Courtney - after a closer look at the menu, we are thinking it might not be the best choice for us! The "sauces" sounded a bit much for us - I know that sounds goofy, since I ADORE the food in France! But, hubby wasn't too thrilled when I showed him the menu!

Now, all of a sudden, my husband & daughter think Germany would be fun - so we may be adding that to the list!

Maybe we'll catch up with you at another spot! :goodvibes

Renée

Whatever you decide I'm sure will be fabulous! You have to pick what's right for you and your family. I really don't remember there being many sauces at Le Cellier... But, I got the cheese soup (wonderful), and the filet (also wonderful)... Here's a thread w/ more info:

Like I said, there are so many great places, I'm sure yall will have a great, yummy, time wherever you choose:thumbsup2

We'll (myself, DH, DD {9 years old}, my DM, & my DD) be in Disney World during your stay, too. We arrive on June 20 and leave on June 27. I am a bit concerned about the heat and the crowds in mid to late June, however I am a first year teacher in a terrible Michigan job market and cannot go at any other time. We are used to visiting the World in the fall, so we have been blessed by several trips with great weather and smaller crowds. We hope that this trip is just as enjoyable.

We have already made our ADRs for our meals, too, because I am a big planner.

Have a great trip!!! pixiedust:

Hi TheresaH!
The crowds and the heat are going to be fine. We went last year from June 29-July 3. With great planning (which you are doing if you are reading the DIS), you will be fine. We didn't wait in a line longer than 30 minutes. We brought $0.97 fans from Wal-Mart before we went, and they worked great!

Where are you staying? It's going to be so fun!!!! Are you bringing LGMHs?

Are you bringing LGMHs?

Ok, Courtney, what's an "LGMH"?! :goodvibes

We did pretty well with lines last year in June, also; EXCEPT...
we decided to ride Soarin' as soon as we checked in and ran over to Epcot.. almost 2 hours later... bad move on our part! Later in the week, with FastPass, it was a breeze! The only other really bad wait was the second ride on Splash Mountain - but that was because some "brilliant" rider decided to stand up mid-ride... the whole ride came to a halt and it took quite a while to get things back into production!

We're taking a backseat approach this trip - just hitting the "favorites" of each of ours (me, DH, & DD 13). I can't wait! :dance3:

ps: do you know when those fans start appearing in the stores? We bought one last year and "shared"! I want to pick up at least one more! :cool2:

Lime Green Mickey Heads... They are what you bring to attach to your stroller, backpack, etc. It lets other DISers know who you are... There are a bunch of threads about it. They are paint samples from Home Depot in the "alien green" color. People decorate their room doors, windows, etc. in addition to tying them to their "attire" while in the parks. It's a fun way to lookout for other DISers!

What a bummer about the second splash mountain ride  That makes me mad when one selfish person does something that ruins everyone elses time. :headache:

Ummm-- Well, they should be appearing soon. I'm thinking maybe April/May. We got about five of them (and there's only two of us going). We wanted to be able to have extra just in case. And get extra batteries! I refused to buy a $17.99 one from the world when they do basically the same thing as the $0.97 one! The WDW ones have the water bottle attached, but they are so big and hefty to carry. And, I didn't really want to spray water on my face anyway --- you've got the make up running problem, the frizzy hair problem, etc :rotfl2:
Yeah right--- In June, I give kudos to anyone who looks great at Disney! :scared1:

Now I have to find some LGMH! lol We had the water bottle/fan - let me tell you, it's the only thing that helped me survive Animal Kingdom & Sea World! For some reason, those two days did me in "heat wise"! DD is at "that age" (13) that "the look" is important, but she didn't even care - we were COOL! lol

Off to Cape May today for the weekend! (the REAL one, not the Disney one!!) Toodles! :cool1:

Yes- Make a trip to Home Depot for your LGMHs!

I know what you mean about Animal Kingdom--- It's so HOT! Really hot. We only spent the morning there - 1/2 day, so it wasn't too horrible. But, consistently throughout our trip we used our fans... Non stop! They SO came in handy!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hey Courtney, we are from Louisiana too! We will be at WDW June 5-12, just missing ya'll. We're (DH, DD, DS, and I) also counting the days down. It's nice to see some other peeps from bayou country.:goodvibes

We have been to the parks in late July/early August twice and it is SOOOO HOT! We are hoping to get a little relief by going in early June. I am sure it won't be a huge difference in temp, but maybe it will make a difference. We are following TGM's advice for the trip. Hope that pays off too.

Have fun on your trip....Happy Mardi Gras!

Yay arachal!!!!! We're from Baton Rouge!

Last year we went to POP from June 28 - July 3. It was H.O.T.!! But, we are used to that from living here, so it was not that huge of a deal. We did bring our little fans though and that helped out A LOT! This year we'll be there the week earlier, June 20-25... I'm so excited to be going again! I finally convinced DH that we should go while we were able to, so off we go to Disney again! I am counting down. I can't wait! My great friend is there now and she called me yesterday as she was standing in line for POTC and her DH was getting her a Dole Whip! Jealous!!!! I mean, excited for her :rolleyes1

I wish you were going at the same time as us! You'll have to tell Mickey "hi" for us and that we'll see in a few days after you are there!

Happy Mardi Gras to you too! Hope you have a great one!!! :cheer2:

Oh my!!! Is there NOTHING better than DOLE WHIP?! LOL
My husband will run across the park for us when my daughter and I have a craving! I wish it was available in other parts of the parks!! :earsboy:
