Hello everyone!!! My family just booked a trip for July 14-19! We were all set to go to Washington DC this summer, but a few things changed our (my ;)) mind.

1. Last January, our 5 year old (then 4) went through open heart surgery.
2. My school closed suddenly March 1st and my world was turned upside down. I was sent to a new school, but ended up interviewing at a museum and got a new job in a new career!
3. White House tours were cancelled, and I was disgruntled. :rotfl2:
4. Due to reasons 1 and 2 I need a vacation that I know well and LOVE!!!!

Today we booked through a travel agent for the first time! We had double excitement because we decided to get annual passes since we are going for 10 days next summer with extended family.

This trip will also be different because we usually get regular dining. We are trying to be a bit frugal and are doing quick service. Another difference will be that we usually stay value, and we are moving to moderate (this is due to the fact that we usually travel with inlaws and one of the kids book in their room. We needed a 5 person room).

I LOVE being part of a board like this, and adore reading trip reports! I may do one, but I'm not sure yet. I did a pre and post report for the last trip, but fizzled off at the end. We'll see my energy level with my new job!

I can't wait to get to know you all! :goodvibes

Welcome to the July happy planners!!!!

I know what you mean about losing your job. I'm a teacher and was laid off 2 years ago. I have since got a new one but, would love to do something different. Your new job sounds exciting!! Was it a huge pay cut?? That's what I worry about.

Well your trip of new things sounds fun. What Mod. Are you staying at?

Our trips are all going to be really different than before. My DH is now working in FL and we just bought a condo. It has been really exciting! We are going in April, July and Christmas this year!!! Woohoo :)
This will be our first time getting APs.

:welcome: I have added all your information to the lists on page one.

Don't mean to sound condescending, but I am hoping this thread will some day soon get more planning oriented and less just lists of ADRS and other personal issues that may be better handled through Private Messages. The MDE website is allowing me to make ADRs without any problems but other threads and forums are filled with posters who are having many problems. I am beginning to wonder why it is so easy for me. I have been making ADRs, cancelling, and making new ADRs since 180 days out and even this am I have had no problem finding even the more difficult ADRs like BoG, LeCellier and Narcoossee's.
I read on another thread that some people make H&V early breakfast ADRs to get into HS early to get to TSSM for a first ride and FPs. One poster even says she doesn't even go to the H&V for breakfast but thinks it is worth the $10 per person cancellation fee just to get into HS before rd. Anyone else have any thoughts/ideas/experiences with this issue? We will be at WDW for the 4th and are thinking about starting at Epcot to get a picture with Mickey and Minnie in patriotic garb and then hopping to HS after a lunch at Le Cellier around 2:00 or 3:00 pm. Anyone have experience with park closings on the 4th. We don't want to leave Epcot to find we can't get into HS. Planning on taking the boat from IG entrance at Epcot because we are thinking that will be faster than MDE to DTD to HS. Any thoughts? Also, beginning to find that Mickey and/or Minnie may be in patriotic garb at other parks than Epcot, anyone have any ideas? Also, we are assuming that FastPass+ will probably be in place by July 2nd, but we are hoping we can opt out and just use the "regular" FastPass. We don't do many of the big FastPass attractions, but the ones we do (Soarin, TSSM) we still want to do more than once with FP. One last planning question, now on the MDE website the information icon (small blue I) when making ADRs says that cancellations are required 48 hours in advance. Other WDW sites say 24 and the confirmation e-mail only says a fee will be charged IF one doesn't show up for the ADR-- nothing about 24 or 48 hours cancellation. I have posted on other sites and e-mailed WDW three times and have gotten directly opposing opinions and answers. Anyone have any direct experience with being charged for not cancelling 48 hours in advance (or 24 hours)? This has gotten to be a much too long post, but hope to get some helpful advice from you all. Thanks

I don't think I can answer any questions, but from what I understand, these threads are meant to be bit of everything. A great place to get to know each other personally (thus sharing non disney related tidbits), plan, get advice, etc. General forums might be a better place to answer specific questions as you will get a wide range of responses from a larger number of people. I enjoy these threads because they are more intimate and you are able to get to know a smaller numbers of DISers really well. I love to hear about others and what they are up to. It's in the "Doing the Happy Dance" section, after all! :)

My new job was actually a $7000 pay raise!!! I worked at a small private school and got paid dirt, though. ;) Also, I'm now working summers, so that makes a difference. We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside, and I'm so excited!!! You are going so many times this year! How fun!!! We honeymooned at DW during Christmas (we were on the cruise Christmas Day in 1999!). It is just so magical. Thanks for the warm welcome!:goodvibes

So I don't have experience with fourth of July closings but I was in Epcot on New Years Eve this past year. We left for a mid afternoon break and got back in with no problem. A classmate of mine works in ticketing and as she told me that Epcot hardly ever goes into phase closings since it has the largest capacity. I don't think the studios reached phase 4 closings on New Years Eve.

The Doing the Happy Dance threads are meant to share a little of everything. They are not specific to just planning. Planning questions that are specific are usually best answered under certain topics in the planning thread. That being said, questions will be answered if we can answer them.

I have gone in July many, many times and have never had a problem getting fast passes for TSM. I don't think making ADRs for Hollywood and Vine is necessary. We usually go right at rope drop, walk briskly to TSM and get fast passes and then head to rock n roller coaster and then head over to Tower of Tower and ride both with short lines and no fast passes. I know everyone has a different approach but that is our experience.

Hi All,

New to the boards! My family and I are booked for July! Our dates are July 15-20th. We are staying at POP, 6 DAY w/ PH and the DDP. This will be the third trip for our family, Me, DD 8 and DD 6. We are beyond thrilled to be going to the world again! I know it is hot and crowded in July, but with our work and school schedules summer is the only time to go. Plus I savor the memories of the heat in the 30 below Minnesota winters!

Here are our Plans!

ADR:

Monday: Yak and Yeti- Dinner

Tuesday: Akershus Royal Ban. Hall- Dinner

Wednesday: Be Our Guest- Dinner

Thursday: Ohana- Dinner

Friday: Crystal Palace- Breakfast

Hoping to swing a Wishes Dessert Party at Tomorrowland! I HOPE they have it the week we are there, I have not been able to make the ADR's, we are still too far out!

As far as days and what parks, the girls and I are still developing that plan!

We can not wait! Is it July yet????? :tigger:

Welcome! I'm thinking about the dessert party as a surprise for my family. Have you done it before? As a college student it's a lot of money for me but I think it may be worth it.

Lisa, I have not done the party before. It is a lot of money, but it looks like a blast. Cupcakes and fireworks, is there anything better?

Just couldn't resist the Poly... Went in December ad since we have been planning our July trip I couldn't get it out of my mind.... So last night we switched to the Poly and I couldn't be more excited!!!!

Congrat's - DD and I have been trying to stay at Poly for 3 years and we just can't get the funds together.

We stayed at POFQ last year and really enjoyed the resort. we are at the World pretty much the same time, maybe we will meet.

:tigger:

Are you saying that you haven't made ADR's because your plan for the parks isn't done yet? Since you are staying on property at the POP, you can make ADR's 180 + 10 days out which was some time ago. Looks like a few of your planned ADRs like BoG are popular so you may want to get those confirmed as soon as you can.

We are hoping for a good summer deal (similar to the spring one going on right now) and rumor seems to be good for us to get some money off our room rate... we are going to scale back our ADR's so that we can save a few $$ there ... but the location and amentities are so wonderful at POLY that we couldn't help but change our reservations... we loved POFQ when we stayed there but with DD2 the convenience is priceless!! I'm so excited that we can make it work!!!

It is snowing in Massachusetts AGAIN! My kids are happy for the 2 hour school delay this morning, but I'm so done with winter.

Counting the days until we arrive at SS!
