*****OFFICIAL July 2012 Thread! Feelin' HOT HOT HOT!

We are there July 24-29 at Kidanai 2 br
July 29-Aug 2 BLT 2 br

This is the first time we are going with a kid this young. She will be 21 months old....I can't seem to find my groove with dining. Normally we do a lot of dining out at the WDW restaurants and many of them were signature restaurants. I don't feel comfortable doing that for this trip. So I am confused :confused3

Hi! In 2008, we went to WDW for 5 nights, and my little one was 14 months old. We had always taken the boys to regular casual restaurants at home, so I knew they could handle those. We made sure to stick to their regular bedtime routine, and their regular eating patterns. This worked out very well. We had a TS dinner every night, but we went to all-you-can-eat places...LTT, Biergarten, Crystal Palace, 1900 Park Fare and Boma. We also did 2 character breakfasts. A lot of people I know said that it is inevitable that small children have a few meltdowns while on a WDW trip, especially in the hot summer. Well, I am proud to say that there was not one single meltdown on that trip, or on our 10-night trip in 2010 when we went to even more TS restaurants. I really think the key is keeping them to their normal routine as much as possible. Do we sometimes deviate from their routine? Sure we do, we are on vacation! But their meal times are the same as at home, and we make sure they get plenty of rest. We go to the parks early in the morning, return to the resort for a nice afternoon break and nap, and sometimes we go back in the evening but sometimes we don't.

We were lucky last time to have a villa at BWV that had a nice view of some of the Epcot fireworks. So every night, we watched that in our PJs, then the kids went to bed.

My middle DS was 10mths old when we started going and I found the Character Buffets to be the best. That way your DD gets to eat for free and you should be able to find something that she can pick at and bonus you get to see the charactersprincess:

That's true...forgot about that! It was nice that my little one was free at all those character meals on our first family trip. Also nice not to have to pay for a park ticket for kids until they turn 3.

Also...I had been nervous about character meals, since I didn't know how my kids would react. But I had read here that if a child is frightened by the characters, then they will leave them alone. So no worries about the characters breathing down your neck or anything like that. As it turned out for my kids, they loved the characters...my little guy was even playing with Minnie's nose at dinner one night! :goodvibes

To All Disney Maniac's

We have changed from CBR to CSR and now a final decision to stay at POFQ. :scared1: I am so glad WDW has start complimentary Wifi in the Resort rooms. :cheer2:

I think you will be happy with POFQ - it is a small compact and quiet resort, I have heard many positives and they have queen beds in all the rooms now. It was just rehabbed last summer.

Hello Tinkerbell60 - Question, were you one of the Diser's my DD and I met at the July 2011 Dole stand Dis meet in Adventureland?
We are on a July room only 30% discount pin and wanted to try CSR but after looking into it more we thought it would be better for us to stay at POFQ.

Thanks

I was on the July 11 Disboard, but not there for the Dole Whip - we went later in July. I think it is great that you got a 30% pin code - that is awesome! I have wanted to try CSR too but I know it is large and spread out. The one time we stayed at CBR - although we liked it- I found it too big. I have heard great things about POFQ - and hope to stay there someday too

Ok, I can finally post my dates  I booked SW today - so we arrive 6/28/12 and depart on 7/10/12. Not sure yet where we are staying. We are considering a split stay and all will depend on AP discounts (hopefully!). We would like to do POFQ and All Star Movies since these are two places we have not yet stayed. However, if we get a good enough discount on the Poly - that is an option too!

:lmao:I know what you mean - if I did not get decent airfare, we would end up doing the 16 hour drive. We are already driving down for spring break because the airfare is too outrageous. Plenty of time to watch for room discounts now!

Yep - I know what YOU mean too!! 22 hours from FTW Texas. When we drive, we usually start out on Friday around 4:00 PM after I get everything ready :laundy: and drive to the Mississippi :welcome: center, spend the night. Wake up the next morning around 4:00 AM :faint: and drive hard, :car:get to Orlando around 2:00 PM Saturday afternoon. WOW !!! what a drive - feeling like a yo yo :yo-yo:

Really, it is not as bad in the summer because we leave at 7am and usually drive to the Florida/Georgia border and then have a short 4-5 hour drive the next day. BUT, at spring break the kids have school, so we will leave when we can feasibly get them out early (depending on tests) which could be anywhere from 10:00am - 2:00pm so we will not get far Friday night and we have a longer drive on Saturday. Last time we did this we left around 11:00am and made it 10 hours the first day so we were in Disney by 3pm the next day. Not sure how it will go this time!

We always drive down from NYC. I don't like to fly anyway, and for 4 people it has always been more expensive to fly than to drive down and stay over on the way. We will be getting up around 4:30, pack the car, get the kids dressed, give the kids a very quick snack to hold them over, and leave the house by 6am, stopping at the bagel store before heading for the highway. Then we drive to Baltimore and stop to have our bagels for breakfast, then continue on. We will be staying over in Florence, SC, then driving down to Tampa. Staying in Tampa for 3 nights, then heading to WDW.

I love the drive. So does DH. I always offer to do some of the driving but he likes to do it, and he has always done it all. It's fun going through all the different states, and we all get excited when we see our first palm tree of the trip down south! ;)

We also look for all the *famous* signs along I-95...South of the Border, J-R, "Buy Disney Tickets Here", etc. And love seeing signs for places like Cracker Barrel, Shoney's, Cici's Pizza, etc...places we don't have here in NYC. I'm picky with pizza, but I do like Cici's! Maybe it's the desserts. :rolleyes1

I am back! hehe

July 15 to 25 at CR- Concierge Bay Lake view

 There is a resort list but it is really small.... only a few of us are going in July:rotfl2:

I agree!! So relieved that I have dates!!! I am sure the AP rate won't be out for awhile. If nothing else, we will be doing two rooms at a value. I would like to do AS Movies since we have never stayed there, but we will see.
