Thank you for the suggestions. Can you someone tell me more about the pick a pearl? I think that is something that she would def. enjoy. I am also thinking of a nice massage. I could go for one myself and I know my mom would enjoy the relaxation as well.

pick a pearl is a wonderful thing for mom and daughter and in your case mom, daughter and grandma to do

here's our video of dd and myself last year.

Great video - what did you do with the pearls after the experience??
The pick a pearl in Maui was much tamer - no drum beating or showing of the pearl! I saw that you also got a silvery blue pearl - isn't it pretty?
Thank you for sharing!

Okay, new question everyone, to help pass the time. Are there any souvenirs that you are absolutely going to buy? I need some more t-shirts and sweats, stuff from the Basin at DTD, pajamas, stuff from France in Epcot for my students and hopefully some soccer stuff (at Epcot - especially England) for the World Cup! Those are the must haves - anybody else have anything that they absolutely must get on their upcoming trip??
I will buy several things, I'm sure--a new hoodie, some Mr. Potato Head parts for my collection, and possibly a new watch.

I just made the executive decision that we are NOT going to DHS on the morning of the 4th, like originally planned, before hopping to Epcot around noon. It's much to risky! I know it's very rare for Epcot to close because it's so big but if I showed up at Epcot at noon and they told me I couldn't get it, I'd be devastated! It's not worth the worry!

So Epcot all day on the 4th! Maybe we'll sleep in a little since we'll be up late that night and get there around 10/10:30....we should definitely be safe with that time.

Oh who am I kidding?! You KNOW we'll be at rope drop!

(This conversation really happened in my head as I typed it!:lmao:)

HAHAHAHA Nikki you're nuts LOL

If she is, so am I! I have been thinking like that for a few days. Do I go to HS or EP on the 4th?? Such a tough decision! I'm now leaning to DHS. :rotfl:Stay tuned for further changes!!

So cute!! I may have to order that! LOL!! Have you used it before?? I am bigger chested and I'm thinking this may be better than my vera backpack I had planned on taking...if I can get it here in time!
I have 2--the khaki and a bright yellow. I LOVE them for park touring and have used the khaki one for 3 trips. I am large-chested as well and have no problems.

Is it worth it for me to do online check-in if I have a rental stroller to pick up at the desk anyway?
You can still ask the person that hands you your packet for help with the stroller.

***Note--If you are staying CL, it's best NOT to do online check-in. I read on the Poly thread that a CL guest used online checkin, then had to go inside, rather than straight to the CL, to complete check-in. Just FYI. We are splurging on CL this trip, and I so want to do online check-in (today is 10 days!!), but I don't want to mess anything up!

Only 17 days left, and I was so productive last night and this am. Rearranged some dining reservations, cancelled some dining reservations, added the dining plan...

I downloaded touringplans.coms Lines app to my iTouch (it is free when you sign up for touring plans - which I did with a discount for buying the 2010 book).

It was 9:00 pm and I was asking my daughters to pick a ride, then I would tell them the wait time. :lmao:

I don't have an iPhone, but I am seriously debating renting my SIL's for our trip. (I don't know if she can live without it for ten days so maybe if I pay her???) I wonder if you can rent an Iphone? I have to google that...:rotfl:

If only Wifi was available in the park...:rolleyes1
Do you have a smart phone? I have it for my HTC Hero--it's an Android/Google phone

I forgot to tell yall what happend to my toe nail. After swim class we stopped at the dollar store. My keys fell off my ring and hit my toe-it hurt but I was glad it hit my toe or else I would not have known my house keys had fallen. Fast forward to home where I take a closer inspection of my toe to see that the key has put a hole in my nail from the bottom to the side(because my nails were very soft due to being in the water that long).. the nail was hanging on and I had to clip it off so it would not rip..so now I have a little piece of toe nail on the side on my BIG TOE!!
I was like WHY WHY WHY right at the start of summer!!!
:headache:Ouch! Will it affect your walking? Can you wear sandals?

OUCH!

Mom2Clr~I hope your dentist appointment goes well and you dont need any dental work done other then the cleanings!

Anjalee~ The pearl necklace is a nice idea. You could also make a reservation somwhere for just the 2 of you even if it's just for tea at the GF. Remember to take your time with her while going through the park making happy memories, take lots of pictures and have lots of laughs.:hug:

Took the kiddo's the the library today and checked out Tarzan for them to watch. DH bought my engagement rings the day we went to see that with my Nephews so it's "Our Movie" so to speak.
Aww, how sweet!:lovestruc

I haven't done either, but I've read great things about a foot/leg massage at GF--might be nice mid-trip to relieve. for you and mom--have a great trip!

10 days--that mean I'll be :cool1::cool1::cool1:Single digit dancing:cool1::cool1::cool1:--soon!!

Sooo, today I had an idea:idea:--thinking of doing surfing lessons on July 6 for DH, DD and DS. I will take pics and video.:cool2: Since we cancelled the Wishes cruise, I think I can swing it as a surprise for DH's bday (which is the 10th, but we have MK that day)

I'm going to download it to my Touch tonight. Too bad I can't use it in the parks. But I'm pretty sure that we are going to download the Mobile Magic app from Verizon for my env3.

Thank you - we bought a Cinderella Carrage pearl cage off ebay for about 5 UDS each. They are really pretty and DD LOVES wearing hers. I got one the first year DH and i went when we were just engaged and had it mounted there (DTD) on a really pretty small diamond for about $130 including chain.

Where do you do the pick a pearl in WDW? And how much is it?

the one in EPCOT is in Japan and it was $15 this one is really good because of the "show" the girl did that they don't do (or at least didn't do years ago) in the DTD location.

if you're going to do it - i would totally recommend the Japan location.

and really enjoy the experience - the family before us wanted to rush through it and i think spoiled the experience :scared1: but whatever that's them

I had a question for those of you doing online checkin .......I was advised not to do it because it is harder to change rooms if you don't like the location etc.... but if we are not going to arrive until early afternoon, I am worried about our requests.....is there any place to note your requests when you do online check in????

why wouldn't you be able to switch rooms if you do online checkin?

i don't see the difference - if you get to your room and don't like it reguardless of how you checked in you should be able to (if available) switch rooms

the check ing online only speeds up check in - at least that's my thought

I am not sure, I think it is because everything is already set for your room......I mean the charging priveleges etc.

but that would all be set up if you did the normal check in too - once you leave the front desk you're good to go.

i'm still confused

Wow, we had an earthquake in Quebec. 5.7 on the scale. The last time we had one that big (a 6 on the scale) was in 1988. That was so weird.

I can't imagine how you do it if you have those often. It's scary!

Supposedly it was felt down here in Louisville too but I didn't feel anything. :confused3

i just heard.

We didn't feel anything but some people in the higher floors in office buildings felt something.

I did online check in for the CR (staying same time you are) and I do believe there was a box for any special requests. It even allows you to choose when your arrival and departure times will be.

We did online check in last year and we were upgraded when we got there. So changes can be made no matter what. I don't think it matters online or regular.

We took my son to see Toy Story this morning. What a good movie! I really enjoyed it and so did my son and DH. It was my son's first movie experience. He did a great job. I was thinking he would be up and down and talking the whole movie, but we explained that you are not supposed to talk in the movies and he did a great job staying quiet. Now...what else can we take him to see??? popcorn::

Movies- does your area have a Regal Family program? Our Regal Cinema shows older films for free every Tues and Wed at 10. We saw Evan Almighty yesterday.

Three Pick a Pearl Locations -
Epcot Japan - with the hoopla
DTD
Boardwalk near Beach Club's Hurricane Hanna's

Here is one of the multiple threads discussing Pick a Pearl: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2380426

There were people that felt the earthquake here in Pittsburgh too, although I did not. It was ironic though, when it happened I was having lunch with a friend who is visiting from California - and we had just been talking about earthquakes there!!

As far as online check in - I am not sure what to do. What I was told was that if you don't like the building you are assigned, then everything has to be re-done (keys, charging privilages etc). I read some posts that even said, they were not "allowed" to switch rooms, which I take to mean they were told they couldn't and the guests did not push it.
