*OFFICIAL* July 2010 Thread! It’s Hot. It’s Crowded. AND WE LOVE IT!

I can't believe how many teachers we're hearing from on this thread! I guess summer WDW travelers are filled with teachers! :teacher:

I have 8 more days of school. Yesterday I had the parents in for "Authors' Tea," today was field day so Monday is "start taking things down" day! Hopefully they will tell me soon that I have a job for next year so I know where I'm going to be (there's talk of moving grade levels/rooms) so I can figure out if I'm packing my stuff to be moved to a new classroom or moved HOME!

There is no more riding up front on the monorail.

We've had Savannah view and loved it! I remember being disappointed that we didn't get the Arusha savannah, but wee ended up in a great location and I have TONS of photos of the animals just outside our room.

I am historically a resort-changer. Every trip before this one has meant reservations at at least 2-3 resorts before we land at our final destination-last year we changed resorts 3 days before our trip. :scared1: This trip, the resort has stayed but we've gone from no dining plan, then added it, plus I've changed my ADRs many, many times! And will probably change more.:rolleyes1

Thanks for the resort advice. I know it's silly, but I'm just worried I won't love it because all the pictures I've seen are of a big dirt area with very little grass and, well, it's a savanna, but I don't find it 'beautiful' by any means. I think I'm just nervous that everything won't be perfect...I do that sometimes :rotfl:

As for teachers, YIPPIE! We're awesome!! :cool1: Nikki, that's the worst part of the end of the year. Do you pack your closet, do you pack to move rooms, do you pack to not have a job next year? It's hard to not know!! Good luck and let us know when you hear something :thumbsup2

Oh yeah, love dancing too!!! Before I started doing heavy weight lifting in the Fall, I used to do Turbo Jam, which is a combination of kick boxing moves and dancing, it was so much fun! Then I started doing ChaLEAN Extreme, a DVD program created by the same person who created Turbo Jam. It's 3 days a week of weight lifting (heavy weights, lifting very slowly), and 2 days of aerobics. Sometimes I would do the Turbo Jam workouts on cardio days, for variety. I do miss working out and I am going crazy...but a few more days and I should be fine! I woke up this morning, and feeling even better!

I didn't think about my back healing faster because I am fit...it makes sense though. Still a little nervous about working out again but I will take it easy. Once you feel better sometimes you forget and do too much too fast, and I am not going to let myself fall into that trap!

I love Turbo Jam! I need to get back to it - I've been using the WiiFit for awhile and it's not really doing anything anymore. Time to ramp it up! You're smart not to rush it though!

I will let you know! Thanks so much!

Haha, I used to do Turbo Jam too! For some reason I didn't look like those people in the commercials. :confused3 :rolleyes1

I had to stop once my downstairs neighbor started banging on his ceiling...I guess the football drills bothered him! :confused3

Now I just jog for exercise. I am lazy as can be all winter long and then when spring hits, I go to a park near my house with a 2 mile loop. The first time I go, I can only make it, like, 1/4 of a mile! (SOooo out of shape!) But it only takes a few days for me to be able to go the whole 2 miles. Sometimes I'll even go a little further if I'm feeling up for it. Lately, I've been getting this odd pain (cramp, I think) right under my rib cage on my right side about a mile in and I have to stop. How can I fix that? It's terribly annoying!

We are going July 1st thru 5th and staying at the Contemporary. We decided not to go to any parks on the 4th but are staying at the Hotel and going on a Bass Fishing Excursion, having some lunch and maybe renting a couple of the little speed boats. We reserved one of those cabana things from 3pm - 7pm by the pool and just plan on relaxing. Looking forward to watching the fireworks from our room! We haven't been for several years so I have been having Disney withdrawals! My DS 7 and DS 5 are sssssoooo excited that they are tall enough to ride on most of the rides. They keep checking the height requirements to make sure they don't change!!! :yay:

Welcome! I have added you to the list. We are staying at the CR the same dates. I think your relaxing day on the 4th sounds great.

7/10 to 7/24 AKV Kidani:thumbsup2

I have added you to the list - looks like you will have some other company there.

does anyone know if riding up front in the monorails is still shut down?

Yes, I think that is permanent because of the accident.

We will be staying at SOG July 3 - July 10th.

DH 39 :goofy: DD 16 :tink: DS 14 pooh: and Me 34 pluto:

Welcome! I have added you to the list. If you happen to be in Epcot on July 4th we are having a DIS meet in France around 4pm - there are benches on the right as you cross the bridge from England.

Oh, sorry, I never told you what resort we would be staying at -- it's CBR. :goodvibes

All fixed!:thumbsup2

Ok, so in my quest to kill some time until we leave, I've been playing with some numbers and realized that for about $200 more for our entire stay (5 nights) we could move from savanna view at AKL to standard views at either Beach Club or Poly. Now I've stayed at Poly and LOOOOVE it and have always wanted to stay at Beach Club (loved that whole area when we stayed at BWI last summer.) However, it took some arm twisting to convince DH to take advantage of our PIN and upgrade to AKL in the first place.

I lightheatedly mentioned it a few minutes ago and he just laughed and said 'why would we go from the best view at a resort to the 'worst' view at a different one?' :rolleyes1 Um....can you say monorail? walking to Epcot? hello!! Who raised this kid?!?!? :rotfl: So now I don't know how to proceed. I want to tread lightly since I kind of pushed AKL on him already. I'm just afraid I'm not going to love it. Maybe I'm just trying to find things to fill my time and being silly :rotfl: Who knows!

That is a tough one. I will agree there are some BAD views at the Beach Club. We stayed in a standard room and had a view of the roof. Now the Poly does not have many bad views at all - even if it is looking at the landscape! I think the Savanna view at AKL will be really cool. DH has no desire to stay at AKL - so I doubt we will ever get to stay there. Maybe you could spend that money on an extra special dinner or tour or something?

Sending pixie dust that all goes well! pixiedust:

My back is so much better!

OK, going to bed now because I am starting to feel kind of like this... :surfweb:, as DH sits on the couch watching TV looking like this... :happytv: and the kids are fast asleep, probably dreaming of Disney World since we talk about it every day, every chance we get, and both probably feeling like this right now: :cloud9:

Glad you are feeling better! Would you believe the other day DD said to me I talk about WDW too much :scared1: I guess that is a moody 16 year old for you.

The kids finally finished school and it appears they passed everything :worship:. It is hard to believe DD will be a junior next year and DS will be in his last year of middle school. Time flies!

Yesterday, I changed our resort reservation, we are now going 4 days earlier and coming home 4 days sooner. My ticker looks really busy and so short all of a sudden! What a difference 4 days makes. We will be staying at three different resorts and I am not thrilled about that, but I did not want to mess with our dates at the CR. I did start to change my ADRs, but I am having a hard time - we do not like to schedule too many and I like to space them out. I had everything perfectly, now with the new schedule things are not working as well. Plus, there is a golf special over the first weekend and DH & DS want to take advantage of it - so that leaves them out, but they are not sure which day they will golf yet. Usually, when they golf, DD and I do a fun lunch somewhere. Last year we did Teppan Edo. I was thinking of the GF tea again - we have not done that in a few years.

I cannot believe how busy this thread was yesterday! I was cleaning out my den, trying to organize and put the kids school stuff away for the year - I save WAY too much stuff. Anyway, I was really behind when I check here this morning! I have a ton to do now.

We leave 2 weeks from today!!!

How did you like Touring Plans? Was it easier to navigate than TGM? Easier to find the info you needed? I have used TGM before so I am familiar with the site, but I remember planning our trip 2 years ago and it took me a little while to get the hang of the site. But then I really liked it. I think he updates info as it changes, so if something is from the previous year and still there, it normally means the information there still applies to the current year.

I would stick with TGM. Touring plans was fine, but not as customizable as TGM. Touring plans was mostly good for the crowd calendar.

Oh my gosh, you sound just like me! LOL! I am also pretty nervous about AKL. It just doesn't look like me. But, this is the only time we would be able to stay there as next year my little one will be 3 and I figure we should try it out, most people seem to love it. This way we get to try Boma for BF and dinner too :-) Good luck with what you decide!!

I will let you know! Thanks so much!

That's funny about the neighbor banging on his ceiling! I'm always afraid I'm going to end up down in the basement when I do it! I've gotten ridiculously lazy this winter - seems like it was a long school year and I really had little time to work out (shame, shame). So, now I've got to get back to it too. Is it a stitch that you're getting when you run? If it is, I find that if I raise my arms it goes away. That's pretty good that it only takes you a few days to get back up to 2 miles or more! You and Bonnie are inspiring me to get back to it!

On another note - you don't yet have a letter of intent or a contract at school? That's crazy, I can't imagine how that must be! We're in some intense negotiations right now with our master contract and it's pretty ugly. I hate packing up my room, and I have SO many French posters on my walls - I keep telling admin not to bother having the custodians repaint the walls, I'm just going to cover them back up again! :lmao:

A stitch? I guess it is. The problem is, I try to suck it up and deal with it that by the time I think to lift my arms, it hurts soooo badly! BUT I just got back from a run now and no pains!! I think it might be because I eat or drink right before I go when I go after school. :confused3 It never happens when I go first thing in the morning.

No, no clue about school yet. I'm trying to not think about it...

I was checking out the TGM site at the suggestion of some of the posters and had looked at several different pages on the site. I clicked on the "Take A Tour" link so I could get a better understanding of what I would get for my $21.95 and my Symantec Endpoint Virus Protection immediately went crazy - it picked up a Trojan Horse virus as well as a Trojan Malscript html and quarantined both files (THANK GOODNESS). This is a brand new computer from work (last week) with the most up-to-date virus protection. It would not let me do anything with that page and shut it down. BE CAREFUL!!!!

I wanted to do my itinerary with TGM but now I'm afraid to go back to the site. :sad1:

you guys are really inspiring me to get out of my lazy funk and get it together!

Do it! Gotta fit into those vaca clothes!! Haha, seriously, vacation is the only thing that motivates me to go jogging!

Oh no! I never go to that site but I'm sure posting that will help a LOT of people!

I need positive Dis vibe on Monday at 9am. I'm being interviewed to teach at a private school in Montreal. And I really want the job. Please think of me ;)

That is scary! Good idea to post about it!

Might as well post my ADR changes so far:

1900 Park Fare is now 7/8 at 9:05am

Mama Melrose 6/29 at 4:00pm

Cancel Park Fare on July 13 and the Wave on July 11

Thanks Nikki!!

I am in the opposite position at school. We are being remodeled this year so the science wing is being done first. I have to pack my whole room and all its contents by next Friday. We have 3 1/2 more days with kids. I am so excited to be done. This has been a tough year.

I am so tired from packing. It is so incredible what you save over 10 years. We have 37 days until we leave for Disney. I am so excited. I have changed my ADRS about 10 times. I just can't get it perfect. I finally had to put my spreadsheet away and just stop looking at it. I feel like I have it the best that I can get it.

I had to pack everything two years ago (for the first time). Boy, did I purge! I am not a pack rat to begin with so my trash pile was a quarter of my work husband's next door!

I had to pack everything again before Christmas break to go to a different room for the semester. (My gf and I also packed the English book room and closet - WHOA!!!) Again, more whittling down.

Now that I've moved 75% back into my room and I thought I was good on storage (Our new cabinets have less storage! UGH!) Then, I remembered the cabinet of stuff that I forgot about. I have to purge yet again. However, the bright spot is that I will have mostly everything put away and organized for August!

This is our section's last move!

I know it's crazy, I miss a few days and SO MUCH HAPPENS on this thread! :goodvibes I started to pack up my room today - my walls are covered in posters and I always bring tons of my own books and DVDs in for my students so all of that is almost packed away and in my basement (DH is already grumbling). Way too much more to do before the end and 9 more days to go!! ARGH!

DD had her athletic banquet last night and she won a prestigious award for soccer and an overall athletic award from the Vermont Principals Association! I was soooooo proud and she was giggling the whole time (it lasted 4.5 hours, so we were all pretty giddy towards the end).

Here is our most recent pic (sorry for the red eye!) from the banquet so anyone who is at the world when we are: if you see us, say hi!

Congratulations to your daughter!
