Hi all!

We'll be staying at the Polynesian from 7.18 to 7.27. We are very excited as this is our first time at a deluxe!!

:welcome: I have added your info to the list on page 43 - LOVE the Poly!

For this trip is just makes more sense for us to get the TIW card. It is much more practical for what we would like to do than the DDP would have been. Plus, DH and I do like to enjoy an alcoholic beverage here and there at dinner, and it will be nice that those will be discounted as well. We don't drink a lot at meals, but we are known to have a glass of wine, or the beer at Biergarten or a margarita in a Mexican restaurant!! DH also loves to get coffee with Bailey's Irish Cream in it when we have dessert. Nice to know that whenever he chooses to do this it will cost 20% less.

Last time the DDP worked very well for us. We did a CS lunch each day at the parks, and a TS dinner. We only paid OOP for 2 character breakfasts. However, we were allotted 15 snack credits on our 5-night trip (my little guy was only 14 months old then so no DDP for him), and we still had 2 left on the last morning. I brought some grapes and a Mickey rice krispie treat for the road. On this trip we are staying 10 nights and all 4 of us would have been on the DDP which would have meant 40 snack credits. YIKES! And the deluxe plan, which would allow for more TS...80 snack credits!!! I can't even begin to think how I would spend 80 snacks plus 3 meals a day, seeing as we are only doing one TS that would have taken 2 credits! :scared1:

Our lunch at MK on July 22nd may change back to Plaza. Not sure yet which one we will be doing. I already changed it from Plaza to LTT but may still change it back if available. Depends on what DH and I ultimately decide but for now it will be LTT.

We like to have a drink with dinner too - and TIW is great. They have some really fun drinks to try! I once had a rasberry daquiri at the Garden Grill - it was awesome, but they took it off the menu :confused3, last summer I had a chocolate martini at the Wave, but I am not seeing it on the menu anymore either.

I like both the LTT and Plaza, that is a tough choice!

Rachael, LOVE the Poly. While listening to the DIS email show someone was trying to decide between Poly and BC conceirge. The podcast team talked about how kids fall in love with a resort and only love it. That would be the Poly for my daughters. I hope they love the DVC resorts as much, though.

Since someone posted about the Gap - For the tweens - Justice also had a cute Minnie/ Mickey T and a Mickey/Pluto color changing T. I was hoping maybe because it is Justice my daughters would like it. Nope. :sad2: I guess that's good that they don't like it just because but...

The dining plan still saves us a little. My girls are 8 so their per day charge covers their dinner, giving them "free" counter and snacks. I then can apply that "savings" to ours. Also, we won't pay the seasonal fee due to DVC. So for this trip the plan still makes sense for us. Fortunately, I am obsessed enough to calculate menus to find out.

I could never understand the draw to the Poly until we stayed there last summer. I would have gone back this year, but we have been wanting to try the CR since we have not stayed there since it was rehabbed. The Poly is definately my favorite MK resort.

I think the dining plan is great if you have kids under age 9 or big eaters. Unfortunately, we have neither. Although DDs appetite has improved in the last few years, so maybe someday. We had free dining one year, and it was just too much food - but, if I did it again, I would take advantage of some of the 2 TS restaurants to solve that issue. In the meantime, TIW is a great alternative.

Oh, don't forget TIW is good at a lot of the CS places in AK, because they do not have a lot of TS restaurants.

Tinkerbell (can I call you Tink?) I calculated the TIW but because my twins are still "children" it came out to be less for dining plan. Maybe I will recalculate - something Disney to do in my down time. :goodvibes Last time I worked it all out, I decided that once I convince my husband to make the Disney winter weekend get away every year :rolleyes1, the TIW will make sense for us. On our first trip (not so very long ago) we did the Deluxe Dining. I don't think I could recommend that to anyone especially commando tourers.

Yes, you may call me Tink or Wendy(which is my real name!).

I have calculated the cost dozens of times, and we just always come out less on the TIW. I would like to consider the DD plan in the future so I can do some 2 TS places. I love playing with Disney numbers!

Wendy :goodvibes (and all my other new July friends),

This is your official invitation to read my PTR :3dglasses. I am a trip report newbie; please be patient with me.

Tink, they accept the TIW card at the signature restaurants too (the 2TS restaurants)! We plan to try some signatures on a future trip when the boys are older. We go every other year. On our July 2012 trip my little one will be 5 years old and so we will utilize the kids' camp one night and have a date night at a signature restaurant! Maybe at that point we will feel the boys can also handle a signature restaurant and get to try 2 of them...we'll see! In the mean time we are enjoying the ones that would normally be 1TS on the DDP...the fun ones like character meals, Whispering Canyon, Sci-Fi, 50s Prime Time and different countries in Epcot. We have plenty of years ahead to try the fancier places!

I knew about signature dining, I just meant on the Dining Plan it uses up credits so you do not have to worry about ADRs every day - I did not like being tied to the ADRs....... we are thinking of trying Narcoosees or Cali Grill this summer..

Ahh, I understand. I do hear a lot of people comment about being tied to ADRs, which is why a lot of peopld say they don't like the deluxe plan. We don't mind the ADRs, we love TS places!

Narcoossee's and Cali Grill are both places we would LOVE to try some time! Also, Yachtsman Steakhouse and Flying Fish, both of which are very close to "home" (BWV) for us!

Howdy July peeps! I'm thinking of changing my ADR for July 4th at an EPOCT restaurant. I really wanna try breakfast at Akershus. Opinions would help. Or if you have a better one i would love your input!

110 days! :woohoo:

I think we'd probably do better with TIW, but since we aren't eligible for one.... We are doing the dining plan. My kids are not so much big eaters(but they can be at times!), but expensive eaters. They love the steak and shrimp and expensive stuff! I figure we'll end up ahead, even with the seasonal price increase.

Our kids are still stuck on the cheap stuff:rotfl:... DH, however, likes different types of beer, so I like the option of the TIW card. Also, my daughters will probably still be eating the cheap stuff when Disney thinks they are "adults."

k, what is TIW??

Tables in Wonderland. It used to be called Disney Dining Experience. It's for Florida residents and Annual Passholders. Instead of the dining plan, you get 20% off food and alcohol with the card. I think it's around $70 and good for a year.
