*OFFICIAL* July 2010 Thread! It’s Hot. It’s Crowded. AND WE LOVE IT!

I figured that on the no park days we could hang out and do some resort hoping and go to the pool..I just don't want it to be go go go all seven days..:confused3 I really need some help and suggestions..I have not been to WDW since 94,never with small kids and never stayed on property.

I definitely think having some time to resort hop and go to the pool is a must! Especially in teh summer heat and crowds. Can I just ask what kind of tickets do you have? You have to remember, it's going to be realy crowded so you might not be able to do a lot and you might end up wanting to use your "no park" days to revisit a park that you maybe didn't get to everything you wanted.

Hmm, haven't been since '94? So much is different...including a whole new park! Definitely keep an open mind about maybe using one of your "no park" days to visit AK, even it's just for a few hours in the morning! I'm not trying to rag on your plans but I just want to help you! (And AK is one of my favorite parks) Staying on property gives you so much more flexibility to get around from place to place. Do you have park hoppers? Maybe instead of doing FULL days at each park, you can do mornings in the park and do your pool/resort hoppings in the afternoons when the parks get really hot and crowded.

I still have to make July 30, July 31 and August 1.

Can you tell we're doing the Deluxe Dining Plan this year!

We'll be at the BC. Can't wait for July!!!!!

HOLY ADRS!!!! You are really making me work!

You have been added to the list on the top of page 7! :thumbsup2

We'll be there from July 17th thru the 25th staying at CBR :cool1:

DH is being a bum about ADR's so we're just going to wing it, CS-it or go off-site :sad2: for food that he's willing to eat. The man's wasting my mouse time!:headache:

I'm going to start mapping out parks soon since the hours and EMH schedule is available :goodvibes

My mom MUST watch my kids so I can go to Epcot

Welcome!!! You must make SOME ADRs! Maybe you can just make one or two without DH knowing and just happen upon that restaurant at that exact time and he'll be pleasantly surprised that you have a fantastic place to eat! ;)

Yeah - we'll be there for 16 days. Last year we did regular DDP and the BC Deluxe CL room. This year with the "surcharge" for regular DDP we found it less expensive to get a regular room with the Deluxe DDP. We usually used CL for breakfast and appetizers, and paid a few meals OOP so I think we're actually going to come out ahead.

Of course I'm dieting like crazy so I can eat all that food!

:rotfl: I'd be the most amazing wife if I could pull that off! We keep kosher/halal so I have to call the WD dining and find out what kind of kosher meals they have available. We can definitely pull off Teppan Edo without the kids since there's seafood available (that I'd eat). I am going to go through all of the menus again and make a Word list for DH to check out. I feel like the Disney loser not having ANY ADR's at this point :guilty:

Hey Everyone! I just wanted to add my plans in here since my family and I will be going in July as well. We will be saying at the Polynesian from July 27 - August 3, 2010. I am so excited about this trip. We will be celebrating my graduation fro college so it should be fun.

Congrats on your upcoming graduation! It goes by fast, doesn't it? We stayed at the Poly last year during our honeymoon.

Welcome to the thread!

I have added you to the list at the top of page 10. Welcome!! My DH is similar to yours. I like Nikki's suggestion, just make a couple. Actually, going off site to eat is not so bad sometimes. We do that too. We take that as our afternoon break. If you need some suggestions as to where to go, let me know. We stayed at CBR last summer. Also, the park hours for July are out - go to the Dis Home page, then click on planning (across the top of the page), then park hours. The only thing is, they will sometime change the park hours slightly, so check back every once in awhile. I know once last summer, DHS was closed early for some type of private party.

Sounds like a great reason to diet!!!

Welcome! I have added you to the list on page 10. Congratulations on your upcoming graduation. The Poly is an awesome place to celebrate.

Ooohhh everything sounds great! We love dinner at 'Ohana! I love how you have jsut a half day for HS! We totally feel the same way! Are you going to try to hit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter on your Universal day? We really want to see it but we're afraid it might not even be worth it so early into it's opening.

A half day at HS is more than enough lol. I love the park, but theres just not much to do there. Last year since it dbfs first time there we saw everything and were done by 4. This year we just wanna go on TSM and see the stunt show again and American Idol so all we need is a few hours.
AND YES! we are going to IOA to see the Harry potter "land". I am super excited! I know its going to be crowded but i dont care. I've been to IOA many times before, so I can easily devote an entire day to just harry potter. I am so curious to see how its going to turn out!

Thanks for the welcome. It does go fast but I can't wait to finally be a teacher.

Cool. Is it your first time at the poly?

Are we crazy or what!! We should know better than to go to WDW in July.

But we had the opportunity to go and stay on property, so what the heck, here we go............. BCV July 25 to Aug 1.

Haven't been since 2006. Can't wait.

So any suggestions on how to deal with heat in July?

I see a butch of you are making dining reservations. Is that the only way to eat on property due to the crowds? We are on a somewhat of a budget, so I need suggestions as to reasonable places but yet good.

Can't wait and counting the days.........

Welcome! I have added you to the list on page 10. Yes, it is hot in July, but the parks are open later. We tend to take an afternoon break and go back to the parks when the sun goes down. It helps a little.

As for the ADRs - since the Dining Plan came out it is more difficult to get last minute seating a some of the restaurants. It is not impossible if you are not picky, but if you have a favorite place you would like to eat - I recommend making an ADR. One option for you would be Beaches and Cream since you are staying at the Beach Club Villas. They do not take reservations, so you might have to wait. There are several other places around the Boardwalk area. We have had good food at the ESPN club and we have gotten in there without an ADR. Another one is the Captain's Galley at the Yacht Club - it is a less popular place and we have also eaten there without an ADR. I would suggest going to Allears.net and looking under there Dining section. They have a list of all the restaurants with menus. It will give you some ideas. You can then book your ADRs on-line at DisneyWorld.com. Hope that helps. Good luck!!

Yes, we are all crazy for going in July!!! Welcome!!!

Have you looked at the menus on allears like Tinkerbell suggested? The prices are listed too so many you can look at the places that fit your budget. I'd make at least one or two so you're not stuck with counter service the whole time. How about Sci-Fi? It's fun and not expensive.

Keep us posted on your plans! :thumbsup2

Oh, you HAVE to let me know how it is! I'm dying to go there but I just can't justify it this trip...especially not over 4th of July weekend! Is there an opening date yet? I know they've been saying "Spring 2010."

Thanks!

I meant that I have the park hours and now I have renewed my TGM membership to see which parks would be smarter and try to do ADR's around then, most likely for dinner time when the weather will be cooler. I figure DH will not want to be up super early for a park breakfast and lunch we can head back to the hotel if it's super hot. My dress code will have me hotter faster than the rest of my fam so if I can't take it, we're going in! Or shopping... :rolleyes1 Thanks for the heads-up on park hour changing! I would be so mad to get there only to be told to turn back. That happened one day to us when we went to Six Flags :headache:

How's Shutters at CBR? I figure it's right there so lunch or dinner there doesn't seem so out of reach :goodvibes

:rotfl2: True Dis Peeps do what's gotta be done to get their fix!

July was my second choice for a stay (spring break was first). I guess I could've waited until August but I booked at lower airfare and I wanted to see my fam faster :cutie:

Cool. Is it your first time at the poly?

Last July I stayed at the Poly and it was incredible. I love the theme and the whole atmosphere. The first morning I was there and I woke up just after the sun rose. I walked around the whole resort to explore and take pictures and it was just so beautiful! I love sitting on the swing in front of the Hawaii building just starring over the lagoon at the castle. Can you tell how excited I am to be going back?
Last year was dbf's first time to disney and we was spoiled. He refuses to stay anywhere else lol!

I haven't heard on an opening date yet which is making me nervous. I hope they open it by the summertime! Universal is doing a good job with hiding everything, which is just adding to the excitement. we dont know what to expect!

Still finalizing our daily plans - needs to be done by this weekend, since our ADR window is open Tuesday! Will post them as soon as I get my spreadsheet filled out!
