15 days until ADR time...I wish they would release park hours and firework times!
Really only for HS am I curious for!
Check out my spreadsheet. What do you think?
Game time soon! =)

Hi! This is my first post! We are going January 7-12 and staying at Pop Century. It will be myself, DH, three kids (11, 8, 4) and my mom (We'll have two rooms.) This is the first trip for my kids, and I'm so excited! I'm planning to surprise the kids with the trip for Christmas. Right now, I'm in the middle of trying to figure out dining. I've never done character dining before, and the choices are a little overwhelming!

I was thinking of splitting our trip, staying 3 nights onsite when we arrive and then going offsite at the end. My question is, would I be able to make FP's for the last 2 days of our trip when we're offsite 60 days out? or will it be 30 days out since we'd have checked out? Also, would I still be able to use the MB's we receive with our onsite reservation for the last 2 days? I'm not looking for ways around the system, just legitimately curious :)

Has anyone been in January before? We chose this month because of the low crowds. I'm curious about whether it is difficult to get ADRs you want, what the lines are like, etc.? I'm also hoping it's not too cold!

I've been twice in January. I've found the weekends are more crowded than the weekdays -- many locals come on the weekends and if there are events for cheerleaders, dance groups, etc., they occur on the weekends.

It is usually chilly in the mornings and evenings -- and we would wear hoodies then -- but during the day, we're in shorts / jeans and t-shirts. I would bring bathing suits, but it may not be warm enough to swim.

We usually ONLY travel to WDW in January. Though the weather can get very chilly (this year, one morning, it was 38 degrees!). We are from Michigan so I can handle the cold, but, 38 degrees at Disney is COLD! Pack accordingly. Attractions are often closed for refurb in January also. It seems that almost every January (except for this past January - woo hoo!), Splash Mtn. is closed for refurb. Keep that in mind when planning. When making ADR's, you still will have the same struggle getting certain reservations such as BOG and CRT. But, keep trying and you eventually should get the restaurant/time that you want. To us, January is a gem and I hope people don't catch on how nice and un-crowded it is there!

I am a bit worried about the Pro-Bowl ruining the low crowds factor this year. We shall see...

What dates will the Pro Bowl affect?

What dates will the Pro Bowl affect?

January 29th is the Pro Bowl. They're expecting football related activities at ESPN complex, Magic Kingdom & Disney Springs for the week before that. Nothing specific has been announced yet.

I looked at your dates...you're probably fine. You're leaving just as it's getting started.

Our dates are January 20-28 so we're right in the middle of it! lol

Thanks! We leave 1/21, so hopefully we avoid it.

Hi guys!

I am travelling with my mum from Sydney Australia to Disney on the 4th Jan - 18th. Extremely excited as this is our first trip, but starting to get concerned as our window for dining opens this week and i haven't gotten day plans set yet.

we will have a 10 day ticket and will go to Universal for one day. Do you suggest we stay out of the parks on the marathon day?

I wish the hours that were released give a better idea of the times!

Hello--my first post. We just booked ALK Kidani Jan 16-22. This will be our first time renting DVC points. We have stayed at POFQ, Contemporary, and POP, plus a number of off-site visits. Our past two visits have been in January. Our last visit was at the end of Marathon weekend in January of 2015. It was not that busy, but I hear MLK weekend is very packed. Touring plans shows it as a 10. We do not arrive until that Monday, and I do hope the rest of the week does not end up being too crowded. We are traveling with another family and everyone agreed to avoid summer months, so I guess crowds with cool weather is better than crowds with summer heat. Has anyone ever been during the week of President's Day?

Hello everyone! I am currently in the beginning stages of planning our first family Disney trip for Late January. Dates are going to range in the window of 16 January- 5 February. My husband and I came to Disney for our honeymoon, but this is our first trip since 2009 and this time will be with our son, he will be 4 when we get there. Any tips/tricks/advice is welcome! I am a total newbie since our last visit was also a slow time so we didn't plan anything and just floated through the parks. I don't want to overwhelm myself with too many plans, but want to make sure we get to see specific things (frozen specifically.. my son and I are obsessed, lol). We are staying at Orange Lake Resort and POP as of now, but everything is still tentative. Looking forward to seeing everyone else's plans!

Im pretty sure the marathon is at magic kingdom on sunday 8th of Jan.
So just steer clear which is what we will be doing.
There will be events from the thursday to sunday at epcot as well as the others.

Dont forget Martin Luther King holiday the following weekend after the marathon.

Just a tiny adjustment for us - we are now staying at Port Orleans Riverside :)

@#%@#!

Just booked 1/25/17-2/2/17 as according to most crowd calendars I could find that looked like a low time. I wonder how much this will really affect the parks.

Side question.... We love Coronado Springs Resort but for some reason all through Jan it's 400+ a night instead of 170-200 like Caribbean/Port Orleans. Anyone know why?

It might have something to do with that Pro bowl thing. I'd keep checking....

At one time during Braves spring practice CSR rooms were set aside for the players and families. I thank some of the rms and beds were more made for an athlete. So it might be the official Pro Bowl Disney Resort. Plus they have the convention rooms for team meetings. This is all a guess on my part.
