*********OFFICIAL January 2015 Thread - COME CHECK IN!!! ***************

I think we're going to do one character breakfast at Surf's Up. It's a double-edged sword...our hotel offers free hot breakfast, but since the parks don't open until 10:00, it's the best opportunity to utilize our time. Plus, I've heard good things about that character breakfast.

I'd like to plan a nicer table service meal at some point in the week, but we might play it by ear. We will have our 4-year old with us. I think we're going to make reservations for the Big Thunder Ranch BBQ since we've heard raving reviews about it! The rest of the meals will be counter service.

Love the new, more reasonable price for the F! Dessert party! We might consider the dinner pkgs, but I would like to see the menu. BB is pretty steep, but River Terrace might be a good option.

Fantasmic is a benefit to staying there on a weekend! We will only be there during the week so unfortunately will not be able to see it. :(

As for dining, we are not making any reservations - just flying by the seat of our pants!!! :thumbsup2

There is word that F! Will be shown every night during the WOC refurb!

We are a family of 4. We are making our annual trip on Jan 19-22 and staying at BWPPI. Hoping the Star Wars 1/2 and the MLK holiday won't be too bad. We went the same time last year and I seem to remember that the MLK (Monday) was busy but the rest of the week was fine! :-)

I am soooooooo bummed about there being no more Fantasmic Dessert reserved seats. I did this when I took my son on our special trip, and was planning on doing the same with my daughter this time. The idea of a dining pkg or a FP just doesn't sound like fun to me. I was trying to get away from DW's policies.

It's hard to book something that Disney has explained so little about how it will work.

I'm thinking of the new F! packages like the WoC packages. Not reserved chairs, I know, but this will accommodate a lot more people I guess. Or not, depending on perspective. I skipped F! on our first trip because I couldn't fathom spending $240 for a bento box & a seat. We aren't that big on desserts. I wasn't even thinking of trying to get up in the F! mass confusion. I'm feeling more comfortable with this other way of doing things. We did a WoC package last trip so I'm okay with it. I hope everyone can find a comfort level, too. I think more info will trickle in as the change goes into effect & people come back with info. When you think about it, Disney isn't super detailed in how they explain anything. We do rely on each other for the detail we are comfortable with. At least I do. I refer to Disney for info veeeeery rarely. LOL!

I can't find anything on the DL website where changes are being made to the dessert party. Where are you finding this?

it was an article on Disney Parks Blog, I think. Not surprising the DL website doesn't have anything. They're usually not-so-fashionably late to the party. ;)

I have a character dinning question. We are doing Goofy's Kitchen for dinner one night while we are there. I have learned on this site about getawaytoday to buy character dinning tickets? They cost $44 (for adult) I'm confused as to why is it more to buy from this site? (Allears.net is saying its 36.99.) Am I missing some sort of fee? Surely Disneyland isn't going to charge $7 tip per person especially at a buffet. Has anyone ever done this before? Thank you so much!

Per Mouse Planet: Finally, we have been told that the 2015 refurbishment schedule previously released to cast members was in error, and the dates of the related projects have changed. As such, we have removed the 2015 dates from our refurbishment schedule below, and will post updated information as soon as we have it. For now, the published calendar runs only through the end of January.

This is the article but I don't see anything listing the January refurbs.

The list is towards the end of the article only the bakery is listed as a confirmed Jan. refurb.

We still have our first set of dates on standby. I really need to purchase airfare soon!

I'm def hoping for little to no refurbs, I know it's the slow time of year but to me seemed insane to close that many attractions with a huge RunDisney race mixed in. Plus with it being our first Disneyland trip, I'm def hoping to see and do as much as possible (esp non WDW rides)

Booked our trip today for Jan 2-13! We are staying at Stanford Inn & Suites. I'm excited to start planning!!!

First trip to DL for DH and I Jan. 14-17th! It's our 15th Anniversary, and my 40th birthday are earlier in the month. So we wanted to get away without the kids. Original plan was a cruise, but we couldn't find good airfare to any ports. Found great prices to Orange County, so we are going to Disneyland!
I grew up going to WDW, and have taken our kids 3 or 4 times, so DL is a whole new thing for us.
